    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Show notes

    The plaintiff bought sea moss from the defendant because it has numerous health benefits and vitamins in it. She claims the sea moss she purchased was dried, old, and unusable, so she’s suing for a refund. The defendant argues the sea moss is supposed to be dry. He says he won’t refund her because the plaintiff refuses to send the product back.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to refile a liquor license application, but he submitted the same one she had done previously and she got denied again. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff was rejected because she withheld information about her criminal record. He says he did the work and won’t refund his fees.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is her double-crossing ex-boyfriend, who won’t pay back the money he owes her. She’s suing to get it. The defendant says he paid the plaintiff back in cash and covered her car insurance, so he denies still owing anything.

    What a Land Grab Dec 05, 2022
    Show notes

    The plaintiff sold some land to the defendant, who is a former friend’s husband. She says the defendant agreed to pay the back taxes, but he hasn’t paid it all off, so she’s suing. The defendant argues there was an outstanding balance on the taxes, and he paid them. He says he deducted that amount from what he paid her. He’s countersuing for unpaid loans.

    Then, the plaintiff says she’s a traveling physical therapist and model, and she rented a furnished room from the defendant. She says he freaked out when she used the fridge, and she moved out right away. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff cooked with heavy oils and cranked up the heat, plus she broke the lease. He’s countersuing for unpaid rent, cleaning costs, ruined kitchenware, and lost wages.

    Door Disaster Dec 02, 2022
    Show notes

    The plaintiff brings her son’s father to court. She claims the defendant got violent one day when they got into a fight about taking their son to school, and he kicked in the door. She’s suing for the cost to replace the door. The defendant argues the plaintiff should be held partially responsible for the door because she prevented him from entering the home.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they have a pool maintenance company and they service the defendant’s home. He refuses to pay them for all their work, so they’re suing. The defendant says the plaintiffs asked him if he wanted a new pool cleaning system and he refused, but they installed it anyway. He says he won’t return it since he’s sold his home.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she paid the defendant for a private training session to strengthen her core muscles, but he put her in a group of women trying to lose weight. She says she wasn’t given the training she paid for and is suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff has existing ailments, so he wanted to test her abilities first.

    Carrying On With a Married Man Dec 01, 2022

    The plaintiff says the defendant had a secret affair with the plaintiff’s husband of 46 years. She’s suing this woman for emotional distress and mental anguish. The defendant says she met the plaintiff’s husband 20 years ago when he was having an affair with her friend, but she denies ever being involved with him. She’s countersuing for harassment.

    Then, the plaintiff says he sold the defendant a pickup truck and the guy promised to pay him monthly, but he keeps making excuses. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says he bought the truck because the plaintiff’s business partner promised to hire him for a lot of work, but that never happened.

    The plaintiff says his brother passed away and the defendant, his brother’s landlord, stole money off his dresser as the ambulance was taking him away. He’s suing for every penny. The defendant says the plaintiff told him to use the money for rent and then changed his mind the next day.

    Then, the plaintiff says she designed a clothing line and hired the defendant to take photos to promote it on social media. They had a falling out and the defendant deleted all the images, so she’s suing for a refund. The defendant says she was supposed to get a photo credit on all images, but they were reposted without tagging her.

    The plaintiff says he bought a new suit and brought it to the defendant to be altered, but the man botched it after several tries. He’s suing for the cost of a new suit. The defendant says the plaintiff is wishy-washy and couldn’t decide on the fit he wanted. He even bought the plaintiff another suit, but he still wasn’t happy.

    Then, the plaintiff says she makes custom drink coasters, and she made special ones with poodles on them for the defendant, who stiffed her. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff is her niece, and she did pay her in full.

    Going to Town on a Neighbor's Car Nov 28, 2022

    The plaintiff says she got into an argument with a neighbor and all of the sudden her tires were slashed. Then, a month later, the defendant laughed when someone put sugar in the plaintiff’s gas tank, and other neighbors claimed she was the vandal, so she’s suing her. The defendant says the building super has video of a man slashing the tires, so it can’t be her.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to fix her roof, but she caught him smoking pot at work, and he isn’t even licensed. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says he did a good job, and he deserves to be paid in full.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she and the defendant went to Jamaica together, and the defendant was supposed to repay his portion. She says he stopped paying when he started a new relationship, so she’s suing. The defendant says he paid the plaintiff thousands when the pandemic began, and he claims he owes nothing.

    A Cat Catastrophe Nov 23, 2022

    The plaintiff says the defendants’ unsupervised dogs attacked his cat, and he wants the vet bills reimbursed, so he’s suing. The defendants say their dogs are innocent and they have the video to prove it.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to install hybrid shutters on his house, and he’s been waiting over a year and has called 100 times. He’s suing for a refund. The defendant says the shutters are custom, and she blames the pandemic for the slow order time. She refuses to give him his money back.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he’s a personal trainer and he hired the defendant to make a custom car wrap so he could advertise his services. He says the wrap was the wrong color and had a reversed image, so he wants his money back. The defendant says the plaintiff approved the color and image, so he’s not entitled to a refund.

    The plaintiff says she was driving home from the store when the defendant crashed into her while speeding. The cops tracked her down, so the plaintiff is suing her for the cost of repairs. The defendant claims the plaintiff turned left right in front of her, so the accident was the plaintiff’s fault. She’s countersuing for the damages to her vehicle.

    Then, the plaintiff says he brought his bike to the defendant’s shop for a broken rear axle, but the rear wheel locked up when he rode it. He went flying over the handlebars and broke his collarbone, and he says it’s the defendant’s fault. He’s suing for medical expenses and repairs. The defendant says he has no idea why the plaintiff crashed his bike, and the incident occurred two years ago.

    The plaintiff says he was the defendant’s supervisor at Walmart and she wanted his job. He claims she falsely accused him of trying to kill her and he was suspended. He’s suing her for lost wages and defamation. The defendant claims the plaintiff threatened to stab her in the heart with a piece of wood, and he was arrested. She now carries a pistol and is countersuing for emotional distress.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to work on his iron gates, but she botched the job. He wants a partial refund. The defendant says she fabricated gates for the plaintiff and he told her the gates fell off the track, but they were hit by a car and he’s trying to get her to fix them for free.
