MIAMI WINS 56-9 VS FAMU - Orange Bowl Boys Week 2 Recap Show Sep 08, 2024

Miami's home opener was a blowout as the Canes rolled to a huge 56-9 victory vs Florida A&M... so it's time for the Recap Shooooow!

Cam Ward continued to shine as the #CAMpaign24 efforts got three passing TDs and one on the ground as he continued to look like the exceptional player he was billed as in the preseason. And both Toast and Ro are thrilled to see the involvement of the tight ends in the offensive game plan as they got into the game early. And another huge week for Restrepo shows that we are firing on all cylinders right now.

Even though this was a dominant win, there were still some things that needed cleaning up - even fans commenting that things were sloppy - but we wonder if that's fair because the bar has been raised so high. Plus some penalties jumped up this week that we didn't see in Week 1, including procedural penalties that we didn't see in the Swamp.

And with Michigan and Notre Dame both going down this weekend, we think the Canes could move into the Top 10 - which is great, but do NOT let that allow the team to take their foot off the gas. Plus Cal and Syracuse have both emerged early as tougher opponents than maybe UM fans had on their radar.

It was nice to see the offensive love spread out across multiple receivers, backs and tight ends, but we still want to see some big explosive plays. And we round out a fun recap show by reviewing our Player Over/Under props for this week's game. And we try to digest some of the big games and upsets from around College Football.

#136: Miami Week 2 Preview vs FAMU - Curb Stomped at the Duck Pond Sep 04, 2024

After a HUGE win at the Swamp, the OBBs are ROLLING into their Week 2 preview, as the Canes face Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium. And of course we have to open the show by dancing on Florida State's grave, before diving into the future of Billy Napier at Florida as his 7-year deal was almost fully guaranteed. And with politics surrounding the President resigning at Florida, Billy might get another year just based on the finances.

Plus as the ACC's "top" teams struggled out of the gate, and FSU dropping BOTH of their first two games, the guys try to figure out who the Canes competition will be out of the conference. Scoop thinks Louisville is in that conversation, and so is Georgia Tech. And as we go down to Greentree, Scoop continues to be impressed by the UF game tape of Cam Ward, as there were so many small things he missed during the course of the game.

Roman addresses some online haters as regards to our early push for Cam Ward to go to New York, and everyone dives into the mystery of Mike Norvell and FSU as they have looked so rough as the season has started. And we play some amazing audio of Seminoles fans melting down as they watched their team lose to Boston College.

IP Daily drops by to LEVEL the Gators and the Seminoles in true IP epic fashion. The Canes checked in with three ACC players of the week in Cam Ward, Zach Carpenter and Jaden Harris. Everyone also brings their Three Keys to the table - which are all largely "stay healthy". And we round out the show with some amazing College Football audio of the week - with Brian Kelly, Nick Saban and Mike Gundy all checking in during Week 1.

We dig into our third week of Pick 'ems... and honestly it's a slow week of games. But Week 2 always is - so we do our best to pick some winners!

MIAMI WINS 41-17 AT FLORIDA - Orange Bowl Boys Week 1 Recap Show Sep 01, 2024

Miami rolled into the Swamp and came away with a HUGE Week 1 victory on the road... which means the guys are on full tilt for the Recap Show! Everyone is flying high on the heels of an absolute whooping that Miami opened up on the Gators.

We go through the highlights of Cam Ward's amazing debut for Miami, including the gunslinger pick he threw, and how great he was after that moment. Plus how about the tight end involvement!? There were so many great moments to look at with the offensive dominance, which looked so much different than last year. And everyone has some thoughts on the statement moments of the game, from the opening drive of the second half to the elite play of the secondary.

Even more praise comes from everyone about the play of the defensive, as we look at the key players from the line to the linebackers, all who made huge plays when it mattered most. It was just an all around impressive performance, especially when you look at the lack of penalties and the elimination of the crowd.

We also take a look at our over/unders for players and stats for this game, as we had plenty of hits and misses. And we start to look ahead to the early part of the schedule and try to predict where we will start to see backups and substitutes. And Cam Ward had a LOT to say after the win when he met with the media. With the guys having this much fun during a recap show, Scoop didn't want the show to end as we dove into some of the other stories from the first week. Overall EVERYONE is now drinking the Kool Aid and we're ready to roll into this season!

IT'S GATORS WEEK!! HERE WE GO!!

The season kicks off Saturday in the Swamp, and we immediately head down to Greentree to preview the Week 1 matchup with Florida. And somehow the ESPN computers have us at 57% to lose! So Toast wants to know what scares us about the game, and the guys believe it's genuinely a mix of the venue and the expectations. Toast, however, feels the coaching staff needs to control this game with a strong game plane instead of being a liability.

And everyone has their Three Keys to the Game. Roman's three keys are to disguise the defense on the Gators, involvement from the tight ends early, and limiting the chaos plays by Florida. Toast's Three Keys are consistent pressure on the QBs, letting Cam Ward cook, and not losing the turnover battle on the road. Scoop's Three Keys are composure, penetration from the front four on defense, and performance from the stable of running backs.

Plus the AI OBB's return to the show to give their thoughts on the Gators and offer some AI-generated picks for the game - and all three of the AI's pick the Canes to win on the road! Which amps up everyone's anxiety even more.

Deion Sanders leads off the Wheel of College Football Topics for the week after he banned a Denver Post reporter from asking questions at Colorado press events.

We dig into our second week of Pick 'ems with huge games for UGA and Clemson, BC and FSU, and the biggest games of the week. And everyone offers up their official pick for the UM/UF game with score predictions and storylines.

Pro Football Focus also set us on our side this week by going in even bigger by putting Miami at #12. As we continue to do the math we wonder how ESPN has us going 8-4 with a fully healthy roster and how the Canes can prove them wrong. And listeners want to know what Shannon Dawson plays you'd like thrown out in the Red Zone, and just how good Rueben Bain can be this year as he develops.

We also get into the unfortunate tale of former 5-star quarterback Malachi Nelson, who transferred from USC to Boise State and LOST the starting QB job, and Tua going scorched Earth on Brinan Flores and how we were actually impressed by the way Flores responded.

Plus we dive into some of the craziest audio of the week - with the Air Traffic Control audio of a co-pilot who jumped out of a plane and just how insane the reality of the story is. And some HILARIOUS audio from Australia where an angry man is torturing his ex-girlfriend by giving out her number and soliciting Chewbacca impressions.

And Pick 'ems are BACK for Week 0 - with one good game in Ireland and three pretty random ones. But hey, picks are back! PGA pro golfer and friend of the show Andrew Novak joins the show for the entire hour, and not only is he a huge Canes fan but also gets into the depths of fantasy football as the fall closes in. We also dive into Miami falling in at #19 in the AP Top 25, after finishing in the same spot in the Coaches Poll, and where we all see the losses coming this season. Novak also talks about the mixed bag of emotions surrounding Miami this year, because of how great the talent is compared to the history of disappointing losses.

There has also been conversation among the OBB Discord chat that Scoop should be suspended for the USF game in Week 4, but Scoop explains that Miami takes precedence over USF so he refuses to allow it. Plus we get Andrew's thoughts on fan reactions if we lose in Week 1, who his breakout stars will be and where we'll see the biggest ups and downs this year.

Plus the AI OBBs make their triumphant return as they roll through the schedule and dole out their own season predictions - and as normal it goes way off the rails! We also get into Tyreek Hill saying that he could beat Noah Lyles in a race (which launches Novak into a discussion about golfing in the Olympics), the hilarity surrounding Olympic break dancing, and Charles Barkley leaving $100 million on the table so his TNT people get to keep their jobs.

We open the show this week by diving into the first preseason AP Coaches Poll which had Miami coming in at #19, and Roman makes an argument about why that ranking could even be better, going as far as saying if we were an SEC school we could be a Top 5 team with our roster. And with reports that Dawson is truly calling plays, and having three receivers on the Biletnikoff Award watch list, everyone continues to panic about expectations going into the season.

And with the season coming in hot, we go game-by-game for our preseason predictions... with Roman having us losing to UF, Scoop has us losing to USF, while Toast has us losing THREE conference games and all but tanking the entire season. This is hands down the most unexpected and WILD round of season predictions we've ever done.

Plus we get into FIU signing a stadium naming rights deal with Pitbul, the allegations surrounding Deion Sanders and the chaos in the Colorado locker room, and the pole vaulter who knocked off the crossbar with his member.

We kick off Chapter 131 by getting into a bunch of audio from Day 1 of Miami Hurricanes camp - including Cam Ward calling some guys out for giving in to the heat, and how the defense won the first day. Plus we are loving what Cam has to say about Sam Brown and Damien Martinez as strong additions to the offense.

We're also joined by an OBB favorite, Roddy Jones from the ACC Network, who jokes about how much he's been playing EA College Football 25 and throwing six picks against Miami while playing as Georgia Tech. And with all the excuses gone this season, Roddy admits that he's buying into Miami because of all the weapons on offense. Roddy even believes that without Cam Ward, this offense could still make some noise because the pieces are that good.

Roddy also gets into the wild card group that are the tight ends, and how Arroyo could be a huge difference maker if utilized correctly on this Miami offense. Plus as we get into the preseason polling, Roddy exposes why he also isn't buying the Florida State hype as the season closes in. And of course Scoop pulls Roddy into the anxiety over the South Florida game.

We also discuss the NCAA lawsuits being settled, eliminating walk-ons on college campuses, and how baseball benefits more than anyone with the new scholarship rules.

Plus FSU continues to shoot themselves in the foot over conference realignment, and Luke Fickell blaming Miami for holding him back after TVD was named the starter at Wisconsin. Plus we dive into a lot of audio of Mario and Cam from ACC Kickoff, as Toast is frustrated with Mario's response to "no excuses" and Roman gets tired of listening to Mario continue to rain superlatives down on Cam Ward. And Mario doesn't want to talk about UF in Week 1, which throws everyone for a loop.
