Interviews With "The Killing Of Two Lovers" Star Clayne Crawford & Sound Designer Peter Albrechtsen May 20, 2021

Show notes

Making its premiere at Sundance over a year ago, "The Killing Of Two Lovers" is one of those independent discoveries that makes you excited to see what everyone involved will be doing next. That's because so many elements are well-thought-out and pronounced within the film to tell a story that feels familiar but is being presented in ways unlike we've previously seen before. Part of that is the richly layered performance from Clayne Crawford as the film's protagonist David and the unnerving sound work by Sound Re-Recording Mixer and Sound Designer Peter Albrechtsen. Both of them were kind enough to take some time to tell us about their roles in the making of this excellent film which is now in theaters and on VOD. Take a listen down below. We hope you enjoy it and that you seek this one out.

"Those Who Wish Me Dead" May 18, 2021

Show notes

For our second podcast review this week, I am joined by Sara Clements, Josh Parham & Zoe Rose Bryant. Today, we're reviewing the newest film from Taylor Sheridan titled "Those Who Wish Me Dead." Starring action star Angelina Jolie, the film is an entertaining action-thriller set in the Montana mountains with a brutal neo-western vibe that has reminded people of straightforward action films from the 90s. What did we think of it, though? Tune in below to find out!

Last week we kicked off our 2013 retrospective, and now, we are continuing it with another Best Picture nominee from that year. "Philomena" was a massive indie box-office success, nabbing four Academy Award nominations towards the end of the Weinstein Company's reign over awards season. How does the film hold up today? What did we think of the writing? The performances from Steve Coogan and Judi Dench? Joining me for this podcast retrospective review, I have Nicole Ackman, Michael Schwartz, and Patreon guest Eve O'Dea. Tune in below to find out our thoughts and enjoy! You can also check out our previous 2013 retrospective review of "Captain Phillips" if you have not done so already.

Interview With "Mainstream" Director & Writer, Gia Coppola May 10, 2021

Show notes

Gia Coppola made her feature filmmaking debut in 2013 with "Palo Alto," which was well-received upon release. She then took some time to work on a few music videos and is now back with her second feature film, "Mainstream," starring Andrew Garfield, Maya Hawke, Nat Wolf & Jason Schwartzmann. The film had its premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year to mixed reviews, but Gia was kind enough to talk to us about her second feature and give us some insight into the production, the genesis of the idea behind the project, working with the actors and more! Take a listen down below and enjoy!

Show notes

For our main podcast review this week, I am joined by Daniel Howat and guest Aaron White from Feelin' Film. Today, we're reviewing the latest pairing between director Guy Ritchie ("The Gentlemen") and Jason Statham ("The Meg") in "Wrath Of Man." Taking a departure from the hyperkinetic action style and cheese action one-liners, this is the duo's most serious film yet. What did we think of this dark heist film?
