"The Batman" Mar 05, 2022

Show notes

For our main podcast review this week, Eve O'Dea, Josh Parham, Daniel Howat, Cody Dericks & guest Johnny Sobczak all join me to discuss one of the most anticipated films of 2022: "The Batman" starring Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis & Colin Farrell. Directed by Matt Reeves, this epic 176-minute long neo-noir plunges audiences into the dark world of Gotham City, only two years into Bruce Wayne's tenure as the crime-fighting vigilante known as Batman. It's a grounded and seriously dark take on the character, one that is separated from the rest of the DCEU and really focuses on his skills as a detective. What did we think of Reeves' vision for the character, the film's crafts, the performances by the cast, and its awards potential? We discuss all of these points and more in our review down below. Enjoy!

Interview With "Against The Ice" Star & Co-Writer, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Mar 03, 2022

Show notes

"Against The Ice" is a survival film based on a true story with deep ties to Danish history. Emmy-nominated "Game Of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau co-wrote the screenplay about Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen's (who he also plays in the film) expedition in Greenland, which left him and his volunteer mate Iver Iversen (played by Joe Cole) stranded for over two years in an unforgivingly cold and harsh environment. Nikolaj was kind enough to spend time talking with me about coming across the story, working with Cole, what were the toughest and best parts of shooting, and more! Please be sure to take a listen down below and check out the film, which is currently streaming on Netflix.

Episode 283 - Academy Decisions, Spirit Award Predictions & "The Bad Guys" Trailer Feb 27, 2022

Show notes

For Episode 283, we weren't expecting to have a show this week. With the SAG Awards tonight, we already gave our predictions on last week's show and will have instant reactions for you all tomorrow. However, on Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences made a shocking announcement regarding their telecast this year, and thus, a show was needed. Then, the world proceeded to change around us, but we're still here to hopefully bring a little light into your lives as we know how much this show can serve as a comforting distraction from the horrors of real life. Josh Parham, Will Mavity, and guest Charlie Bright from Gold Derby join me to discuss the Academy's changes regarding eight Oscar categories being pre-taped before the live telecast, our own suggestions on how to fix the ratings problem ABC has been experiencing, and what these changes will mean for the future. We also deliver our predictions for next week's Independent Spirit Awards, go over the polls, give our reactions to the trailer for "The Bad Guys," answer your fan-submitted questions, and more. This is your last week to vote on the 2021 NBP Film Community Award winners, so please take a moment to vote here if you have not done so already. Thank you all so very much for your support. Enjoy!
