A Behind The Scenes Look At "RRR" Jan 10, 2023

Show notes

"RRR" is one of the last year's true success stories. An Indian blockbuster that crossed over to the states, it is still holding sold-out screenings and receiving rapturous responses from those who experience it. S.S. Rajamouli's historical action epic also features some of the best crafts of 2022 with over-the-top stunt work, chaotic sound, energizing music, and dazzling visual effects. Many of the film's below-the-line talent were kind enough to spend time talking with us about their work on the film. In this series of interviews conducted by Will Mavity and Dan Bayer, we spoke with Film Editor A. Sreekar Prasad, Composer and Songwriter M.M. Keeravaani, Cinematographer K.K. Senthil Kumar, Sound Re-Recording Mixers Boloy Kumar Doloi and Rahul Karpe and Visual Effects Supervisors Vlad Skrypnyk & Peter Dimitrov. We hope you enjoy this special behind-the-scenes look at one of the year's most entertaining films. Thank you!

"M3GAN" Jan 07, 2023

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Josh Parham, Dan Bayer & Cody Dericks. This week we're reviewing Gerard Johnstone's "M3GAN," starring Allison Williams, Jenna Davis & Violet McGraw. 2023 is off to a fun start. Expectations were low for this one, but by leaning into the film's ridiculous premise with a degree of self-awareness, a new horror icon has been born, which will supply us with endless memes and Halloween costumes for years to come. What did we ultimately think of the story, the horror, the campiness, and the performances? We discuss all of these points and more as we attempt to give M3GAN the review she deserves. Thank you, and enjoy!

Interview With "The Pale Blue Eye" Director/Writer, Scott Cooper Jan 06, 2023

Show notes

"The Pale Blue Eye," tells an origin story of sorts for one of the world's most renowned authors, Edgar Allen Poe. Played by Harry Melling, the young military cadet in 1830 West Point, New York, is called upon to help a veteran detective (Christian Bale) solve a series of grizzly and inexplicable murders. Director/Writer Scott Cooper may love continuing to work with Christian Bale, but he has no interest in repeating himself as he tells a gothic thriller with a few surprising twists and turns. The film is now available to stream on Netflix, and Cooper was kind enough to spend some time talking with us about his work on the film, which you can listen to down below. Thank you, and enjoy!

"White Noise" Jan 03, 2023

Show notes

For this week's second podcast review, I am joined by Dan Bayer & Brendan Hodges. Today we're reviewing the latest film from Academy Award-nominee Noah Baumbach ("Marriage Story") as he adapts someone else's material for the first time, Don DeLillo's "White Noise." Starring Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig, Don Cheadle, Raffey Cassidy, Jodie Turner-Smith, André L. Benjamin & Lars Eidinger, the film is a satire of America in the 1980s with a stylistic flourish from Noah Baumbach unlike any we've ever seen from him before. The film had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received mixed to positive reviews for its performances, music, tone, and complex adaptation by Baumbach. The film is now streaming on Netflix and is garnering an even more mixed response but what did are think of it, though? Please tune in for our review as we discuss these aspects, including its Oscar prospects and more. Thank you so much for listening. We hope you enjoy it.
