Interviews With "Chevalier" Star Kevin Harrison Jr., Director Stephen Williams & Screenwriter Stefani Robinson Apr 17, 2023

Show notes

"Chevalier" had its world premiere at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for Kelvin Harrison Jr's performance as French revolutionary and violinist, Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, and the presentation of the character and story through Stephen Williams' direction and Stefani Robinson's screenplay. Harrison Jr. was kind enough to return to the podcast to talk about his role in the film with Ema Sasic while I had the pleasure of interviewing Williams and Robinson together. Each brought their own perspectives and experiences towards crafting one of the most thrilling period pieces you'll likely see all year about a once-forgotten man whose story is finally being told. Please take a listen down below, enjoy, and be sure to check out the film, which releases in theaters on April 21st from Searchlight Pictures. Thank you!

"Renfield" Apr 15, 2023

Show notes

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Meredith Loftus, Josh Parham & Dan Bayer. Today, we're discussing the newest film from director Chris McKay, "Renfield," starring Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage, Awkwafina, Ben Schwartz, Shohreh Aghdashloo & Adrian Martinez. The classic Universal horror movie monster returns to the big screen in this horror action-comedy that frames the story around Dracula and Renfield's co-dependent relationship. Did we find it fresh, fun, and worth the price of admission? What did we think of the performances from Cage, Hoult, Awkwafina, and Schwartz? Did we enjoy the humor, buckets of gore, and practical makeup? Tune in as we discuss these points and more in our review. Thank you, and enjoy!

Interview With "Renfield" Star Ben Schwartz & Director Chris McKay Apr 14, 2023

Show notes

"Renfield" is a horror, action comedy from director Chris McKay ("The Lego Batman Movie" and "The Tomorrow War") which tells the story of a co-dependent relationship between Dracula (Nicolas Cage) and his long-suffering familiar Renfield (Nicholas Hoult). An intentionally silly, fun, and over-the-top comedy with lots of gore, actor Ben Schwartz plays the son of a mob boss who gets tied up in Renfield and Dracula's conflict. Schwartz and McKay were kind enough to let me interview them during the press junket for the film (my first-ever in-person interview), which you can listen to below! Thank you, and enjoy!

Bellucci was kind enough to spend some time speaking with Zoe Rose Bryant, while Hardwicke dedicated some talking with Ema Sasic about their respective work on the film, which is now playing in theaters from Bleecker Street. Please take a listen down below and enjoy! Thank you!
