"Fast X" May 21, 2023

Show notes

This week's main podcast review is historic as our Editor In Chief, Matt Neglia, is away in France for the Cannes Film Festival, making this the first Next Best Picture podcast review he's not been present for. But that's ok, for I, Cody Dericks, am joined by Meredith Loftus, Brendan Hodges, Giovanni Lago & Will Mavity. Today, we're discussing the latest film in the "Fast Saga" titled "Fast X" starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Sung Kang, Alan Ritchson, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie Larson & Rita Moreno. What did we think of the story, the action, and how this tenth entry starts the beginning of the end for Dom and his family? Please tune in as we discuss these points and more in our review. Thank you, and enjoy!

Interview With "Sanctuary" Stars Margaret Qualley, Christopher Abbott & Director Zachary Wigon May 19, 2023

Show notes

"Sanctuary" had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its two performances from Margaret Qualley, Christopher Abbott, Micah Bloomberg's twisted screenplay, and Zachary Wigon's slick direction. Zoe Rose Bryant interviewed Qualley and Abbott to discuss their work on the film while I got the chance to speak with Wigon. Please be sure to check out the film, which is now playing in theaters from NEON, and take a listen below. Thank you, and enjoy!

Show notes

"Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie" had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, where it received rave reviews for how it incorporated archival footage and re-enactments into beloved actor and activist Michael J. Episode 343 - Final 2023 Cannes Film Festival Preview & The "Poor Things" Trailer May 14, 2023

Show notes

For Episode 343, I am joined by Giovanni Lago. In what is probably an ill-advised move, we recorded this episode before I had to run to the airport for my first-ever Cannes Film Festival (with the wonderfully talented Ema Sasic). But before I left, I made sure to give one final preview of what's to come this week and give our reactions to the teaser trailer for Yorgos Lanthimos' "Poor Things." We also review the polls and answer your fan-submitted questions! We may be taking a break next week, depending on my schedule at Cannes, but we'll be back the week after to deliver a full recap. Thank you all for your support. Enjoy!

Show notes

Winner of 11 Emmy Awards, including two-time reigning champ for Outstanding Comedy Series, this month will conclude the third and presumably final season of "Ted Lasso." Emmy Award-nominated actor Nick Mohammed (Nathan "Nate" Shelley) was kind enough to spend a few minutes chatting with us about the development of his character on the show, how shooting season 3 was different than the first two for him, how his life has changed since the show premiered and how he feels about it all coming to an end.
