Star is a mama of 2 from Byron, Australia.
She is a nervous system specialist and woman’s work facilitator and a good friend of mine. And I’ve wanted her to share her two home birth stories for a long time.
Star had her two daughters almost 20 years apart. Her first daughter in her early 20s and her second daughter in her late 30s.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Jackie.
Jackie is a mum of one from Florida, USA, and at the time of recording only 2 weeks postpartum!
She and her husband decided to go off birth control and try for a baby during the lockdowns in 2020 and ended up falling pregnant almost immediately.
Jackie decided to go with a OB clinic, and even though they didn’t believe that she would have a natural birth they supported her wishes.
Jackie shares her birth preparations with us today and her strong belief in her own ability to birth her baby naturally. And with that belief in combination with a supportive OB and husband, as well as an unusual early labour process, Jackie ended up having an empowering and natural birth in the hospital.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Vicky.
Vicky is a mum of one originally from Germany, now living in Japan.
She arrived in Japan at three months pregnant with her husband, and at that time she new very little about giving birth and she noticed that very few of the hospital staff spoke English so she quickly realized she needed to do her own research about birth, which lead her into learning about natural birth.
And at 6 months pregnant, Covid-19 and lockdown happened and she was faced with the fact that most Japanese hospitals wouldn’t allow her partner, or any support people, to be present at the birth.
She therefor searched for an alternative way of birthing where her partner could be present, and found a traditional Japanese birth centre.
In this episode we get to hear about how that decision, and her research and practice of meditation, visualization, affirmations etc, lead to Vicky giving birth peacefully to her daughter, Via Yuna in a traditional Japanese house with her partner.

Today we have Tori
Tori is mom of two from Calgary, Canada.
In this episode we will hear about her two natural birth stories.
Her first ended up being an unplanned home birth and it went so well that the second was a planned home birth.
Her experiences led her to write a book called Ready to Unpop, which aims to normalize the less popular practices surrounding birth including home birth, doulas and midwives.

Maha is a mother of 3 from northern NSW, Australia.
She is originally Palestinian which has informed her work in the world as an award-winning International Birth Mentor, Author, Speaker and Independent Childbirth Educator.

Dionne is a mama of 1 from Indiana, USA.
She was extremely fearful of childbirth in the beginning of her pregnancy, but by going with a continuity of care midwifery program where she met the same midwives throughout her pregnancy, birth and postpartum as well as going to a counsellor to deal with her fears she ended up feeling calm and excited to go into labour.
After working through her fears and preparing for her birth she ended up having an empowering, trancelike natural birth, the birth we are going to hear about today.

Tayler is a mum of two living on a boat in Brunswick river in NSW, Australia.
She is a qualified nurse and doula and supports women throughout their pregnancy and postpartum as well as with Ayurvedic pregnancy massage.
Tayler became a doula even before having her own children. So when the day came that she fell pregnant she already had a dream birth vision and knew what she wanted from her birth experience.
Today we will hear about her two birth centre births, as a small boat wasn’t and ideal place for birthing. Her most recent birth took place during the covid pandemic and in this episode we get to hear another positive story in these crazy lock down times.

Jessie is a mum of two from Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
She is a middle school Spanish teacher and also training to be a doula.
She is interested in the anthropological study of birthing traditions around the world and passionate about promoting and supporting natural birth. In todays episode we will hear about her two natural births.
Her second baby was born just a few months ago during the corona pandemic.

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Sara.
Sara is a mother of two from Sweden.
She and her husband run a retreat center in the countryside called Shawake, where they facilitate workshops and retreats in Shamanism, Awakening, Yoga and Meditation.
Today we will dive into her dream birth with her daughter that also was a reclaiming of birth for Sara. Her first birth was a long and excruciating experience where her home birth turned into a medicated hospital birth.
When she found out she was pregnant again she considered having a caesarean out of fear that this birth too would be long and excruciating.
After debriefing her first birth with me and understanding why it was so painful and long as well as understanding how she could optimize her chances of having an easier natural birth this time around through the natural birth course she decided to try it.
Today she tells us the success story of birthing her little baby girl naturally in water and feeling so empowered in doing so.
