Jessica Routier is a down to earth horsewoman who has been winning in the barrel racing arenas her whole life - yet making it to Vegas was never a top goal. However, when the standout mare known as Missy came into her life, Jessica followed her path to the NFR - now heading there for the 4th time in 2021. We finally got the chance to talk to Jessica a few weeks ago, and if you haven't seen the video of her crew heading to Vegas go check out our Facebook post from this week. We will be cheering them on. Hope you enjoy this episode - and our exciting announcement to kick it off!
Dona Kay Rule spent her life training and selling her winners, but when High Valor came into her barn, he changed that. Now a 3X NFR qualifier riding an AQHA Horse of the Year, Dona Kay is a true cowgirl that anyone can look up to. We can't wait to see these two return to Vegas to make up for lost time in 2020, coming off their recent WPRA Finals Championship!
DaCota Monk has been jockeying standout horses for years, but really stood out with the incredible mare Famous Lemon Drop in 2020. This year his standout BS Born Ta Cash has won multiple futurities including over $75,000 at the Ardmore Futurity in September. Going into the NFR we start talking to the ladies who qualified, however the trainers behind some of those superstar horses deserve the spotlight as well. We hope to see Famous Lemon Drop run down the Thomas and Mack alley with Stevi Hillman, so no better time to share where her story starts - with DaCota!
Kyle LeLeux has been in the winners circle all year on his gorgeous gray stallion Dollys StreakNBadger - including winning the Royal Crown Futurity this August. He is an owner, trainer, stallion owner and competitor and has some great insight to all avenues of the industry! We had the chance to talk to him right before the Ruby Buckle in Memphis where he went on to win over $15,000!
This weeks episode is with a multiple time NFR qualifier and circuit champion - Shali Lord. She talks about a different side of the industry. Her specialty is taking already trained horses to the next level - seasoning and teaching them to win at the pro rodeos. She has proven time and time again she has what it takes to win and it was fun hearing from her about her first NFR in 2005 with the infamous bay, Slider to the 2019 NFR with her main mount CanMan. Talk a listen and let us know what you think!
Aint Seen Nothin Yet has been a stallion to watch with his incredible foals such as Aint Seen Me Yet, Promise Me Famous Guys, and Aint Seen Famous Yet winning everywhere they go. We got the chance to speak with Aint Seen Nothing Yet's awesome owner, Lisa Miladinovich, about how this stallion became a part of her life, how she manages being a stallion owner with a full time job outside of the horse industry, and her thoughts on the industry. You don't want to miss a second of this episode!
Up next, the Coughlin's, 10 year old Izzy and her mom Tara. After watching Izzy and her five year old futurity horse clean house to the tune of $120,000 last week at the Pink Buckle, Kayla just knew we had to share their story, and we are so glad we got the chance to talk. She may only be 10, but she sure has some great advice that will surely take her far in her barrel racing career, and we got the chance to hear from the parent's perspective as well with Tara!
