We had a fantastic opportunity thanks to our friend Casey Allen with Barrel Racing Magazine for an onsite interview from the Panty Raid Futurity in Springfield, Ohio this past weekend. It just so happened to be that the futurity champion was one of our most requested guests, Leslie Willis! Leslie Willis is known for running barrel horses with pedigrees fit for the race track - and winning on them at all levels. She is a 4-time $100,000 slot race winner and every year has an incredible set of colts to watch. Leslie and her husband Jason have created quite the program from their Flying W Ranch and we are excited to share this little bit of insight to her training program! Hope you enjoy it!
Our guest this week is Stephanie Fryar - a winner at all levels from the futurities to the professional ranks. She made her first NFR in 2008 and finished 16th in the world in 2021, but has had countless big wins and successes in between. From being the Texas Circuit Rookie of the Year, a 4x TX Circuit Finalist, and the Blue Collar Breeders 2019 Futurity Champion, taking home $50,000, she has taken multiple horses through the ranks and continues to win on them today. She shared how she manages the ups and downs of barrel racing and we are looking forward to watching her continue to win this year, hopefully ending in the Thomas and Mack!
Kylie Weast comes from a long line of respected horsemen, barrel racers, and pioneers in the barrel racing industry. Alongside her sisters, she has become one to watch when she runs down the alley on a futurity colt or a rodeo horse. From winning at the futurities to winning the tenth round at the NFR, Kylie shared her story and how she balances being a wife and mother of two and being a barrel horse trainer. Her thoughts on keeping mentally ready to compete are some of the best we have got to share!
Danny Ray is the man behind the famous VF brand of Victory Farms. His name is listed as the breeder of barrel horses with close to $5 MILLION in earnings and we loved getting the chance to hear how he got into the barrel horse business. From his first horse purchase of On The Money Red and Designer Red to his upcoming plans that have revived his love for the sport, this was a great conversation full of stories from this long time leading breeder over the past 25+ years!
As always, thank you to our episode sponsors Farnam's Horseshoer's Secret Hoof supplement!
Karma Loftin has been in the barrel racing game a long time and has made her mark breeding and raising some of the best barrel horses to run down the alley. If you look at her program, quality not quantity is the focus - in 2021 she hit the million dollar mark as a breeder with 34 foals. Her program was built with the help and guidance of Kassie Mowry as her trainer and jockey and Karma and Kassie were the minds behind creating Epic Leader - we all know the dynasty that idea has now created!

Since her high school days Rachel has progressed through the ranks winning on multiple levels and has now started her own breeding program with a stallion you will want to look into! Her journey is full of the ups and downs that barrel racing can consist of and her perseverance to keep her horses healthy and always improve as a jockey is truly admirable. We enjoyed this episode and hope you do too!
We got the chance to visit with WPRA President Jimmie Munroe and Vice President Heidi Uecker-Schmidt about the current goals and focus of the WPRA Board. From how they are working to improve rodeo ground at every rodeo, the ongoing discussion about limited rodeos, the rising popularity of breakaway roping and more - they got to share their thoughts and ideas on all of these important topics. We hope you enjoy hearing exactly what the ladies in charge have been working on and what their goals for the WPRA membership are - straight from the source!

From owning legendary sire Blazin Jetolena to raising foals - including this years world champion Famous Lil Jet - owning futurity horses and being a veteran rodeo competitor herself, Busby Quarter Horses does it all. We are beyond excited to have had the chance to sit down with the newly crowned World Champion herself, Jordon Briggs. A million dollar earner and 2x NFR qualifier, Jordon and her horse of the year "Rollo" had an exceptional performance at the finals and ended up winning the average and the world title. The years in between her two NFR appearances were spent winning in the futurity world and breeding and training incredible horses with her husband Justin. We can't wait to watch what Jordon and Rollo do in 2022!
