Fire Water Flit is a true legend in our industry and made an impact both as a performer and as a sire. We wanted to share his story and loved this conversation with his breeder and owner Vickie Adams. Fire Water Flit has sired earners of over $5 Million and his genetics have been winning for over three decades at all levels. Vickie not only bred and raised "Milo", as he was affectionately known, but she has had great success as a jockey, and as a leading breeder. Her knowledge of our sport extends far beyond a one hour conversation. We hope you enjoy this story of Fire Water Flit, straight from the source!
Margo Crowther and her mare Sissy have been winning for years down in Florida. This year they decided to venture west and try some new rodeos and they are now headed to their first National Finals Rodeo! Not only is she a talented jockey, a dedicated owner, and trainer, she is also a mother of three and business owner that has been quite busy in those hurricane months. We think you are going to like this conversation and we can't wait to cheer on Margo and Sissy this December!
Andrea Cline has dedicated her life to her passion of training barrel horses. She is a BBR 1D World Champion, TX Circuit Finals qualifier, multiple time futurity champ and her horses are known for going on and winning after they leave her program. She has ridden horses for some of the best in the industry like Charmayne James and Molly Powell and continues to train top level horses today. Her story isn’t without its ups and downs however, and she has had to overcome some serious obstacles to be able to do what she is doing today. Her story is one of motivation, dedication and the will to succeed and we were grateful to have the opportunity to sit down with her at the Pink Buckle (you will hear some background sound but we had the opportunity to sit down outside of her stalls and enjoy the weather, we couldn't pass it up!). Enjoy!
Troy Crumrine is a true legend in our sport, with earnings over $4.3 million and massive wins spanning over 3 decades. The horses he has jockeyed include greats such as Sissy's Little Coin, Mulberry Canyon Moon, Hoosier Fame, SR Industry Titan and so many more. We had a great opportunity to visit with Troy at the Pink Buckle and wish the conversation could have been twice as long! We hope you enjoy!
Bayleigh Choate's rookie rodeo season ended up looking like a fairy tale, but as she's about to share, the rodeo road definitely had its fair share of ups and downs, especially for this rookie jockey and her rookie horses! After ending the 2022 season qualifying for the her first National Finals Rodeo and clinching the Rookie of the Year title, we were excited to get a chance to share her point of view after her first year on the road. We think you are going to enjoy this one!
Robyn Herring is truly a self made success in our industry and every aspect of it - from breeder, owner, trainer, stallion owner, jockey - you name it she has done it. For two decades her name has been tied to the incredible stallion Firewaterontherocks. We got to visit with her to hear the story of how "Happy" came to be the legendary sire he is now and the smart decisions she made to get him to this point. Thank you for listening!
This weeks episode is extra special! As part of Women In Rodeo month, BarrelRacing.com content director Bonnie Wheatley had a chance to visit with one of most iconic figures in women’s sports and rodeo. 11-time WPRA World Champion Charmayne James talks about the genesis of her professional career spanning more than two decades, 19 NFR qualifications and countless major rodeo wins. Charmayne’s passion for horses and helping people achieve in barrel racing spawned the schools she now travels the country teaching where horse care, horsemanship, and winning mentality are just a few of the cornerstone teachings.
With the help of title sponsor Durango Boots, Women in Rodeo Month focuses on legendary women who have made rodeo what it is today, as well as showcasing the current women in rodeo who continue to push the sport forward.
After watching Blazing with My Dude and Andrea Busby win Cheyenne Frontier Days this year - it got us thinking about the story of "Titos" dam Dasher Dude who won over $600,000 in her career with her owner Britany Diaz. Britany and "Rootie", as she is known, were a force to be reckoned with in the Dakotas and when they set their sights on the NFR they accomplished their goals to the tune of 2 trips to Vegas, 9 circuit final qualifications, and many records along the way. From getting Rootie as a weanling through raising her foals now, we got to visit with Britany as she told the whole story - and we loved it. Hope you enjoy !
On this week's episode we had the chance to hear the story of how Dash Ta Fame became the barrel racing industry's leading all time sire - from before he was even a thought, through his birth and his racing career and the horses he has produced today - all because his breeder and owner, Bob Burt, loved fast horses. We hope you enjoy hearing about this history straight from the source!
Leslie Smalygo has been taking the rodeo world by storm this summer, but those in her home state of Oklahoma have known how tough she is for years. Currently in the top 15, we got to catch up with Leslie before her run that night to see what she has learned from being on the road and how she plans on wrapping up the season. We hope to see this team in Vegas this year!
