Tombstone '93 Apr 08, 2024

Show notes

We will blow you off that wildcat's ass if you don't listen, but you're a daisy if you do. Tombstone likely shares the top spot for westerns of the 90s with Eastwood's, The Unforgiven, and for good reason. This movie is outstanding from top to bottom with an all-star cast who are all at the top of their game. Kilmer is the obvious favorite, but with each re-watch you get to recognize the brilliance of another performance. Russell, Boothe, Thorton, and the list goes on. We see a red sash and we kill the man wearin' it!

Young Guns Apr 01, 2024

Show notes

What happens when you scoop up all the late 80s bad boys of Hollywood and toss them in a western...? The answer is simple: you get Young Guns. Hidden with the chizled features of the main cast sits an excellent take on the Billy the Kid stories of the old west.

The Long Riders Mar 25, 2024

Show notes

The slo' mo' shoot-out stands the test of time, but the film does veer into triple nap classic territory at times. It's worth a watch, but the shine has worn off a bit over they years.

Dune: Part Two Mar 18, 2024

Show notes

The second installment of the Denis Villeneuve Dune trilogy and it's a doozy. There is plenty to love here, but there are some odd character beats. Are they enough to hurt the story? Push play and give it a listen. Warning: Denis Villeneuve gets a talkin' too this episode based on some of his interpretations of Herbert's work.

The Outlaw Josey Wales Mar 13, 2024

Show notes

Josey Wales fought for the South which immediately makes his character interesting. What kind of man will he be? What does he believe? Where does his moral compass point? The film holds up except for spitting tobacco at a dog - more than once. That's gross and mean.

The Searchers Feb 26, 2024

Show notes

It's the first John Wayne movie ever covered by LSG Media and we picked a fantastic one! Wayne is great, and the Searchers is an epic tale inspired by the true story of the abduction of Cynthia Ann Parker by the Comanche in Texas.

Starship Troopers Feb 19, 2024

Show notes

Congrats to Guy H on his big Member Movie Giveaway victory - and what a pick - Starship Troopers is an excellent movie that displays the full satirical power of Paul Verhoeven as he exploits the jingoistic ideas of the west in this full-throated, hilarious, and underrated sci-fi gem.

Escape From L.A. Feb 12, 2024

Show notes

Escape From New York is unironically great. A terrific look at a not-so-distant dystopian New York City with Russell playing the perfect anti-hero. Escape From L.A. is ironically excellent. Of course, it's not really good as films go, but it will certainly entertain you with how dumb it is. Don't miss it - and do not miss this episode.
