Is there anything to learn about this team and the future under the current coaching staff? Can they win their final two games and salvage an already disastrous first season under Steve Sarkisian? We also dive in on the to big basketball games on the weekend, as well as soccer and cross country competing for national championships. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Show notes

After four straight losses, the Texas Longhorns have an opportunity to get back on the right track as they welcome the Kansas Jayhawks to town in an effort to gain bowl eligibility in the last three games of the season. The Longhorns come into the game favored by 30.5 points, but the last four games have shown us that nothing is easy with the 2021 Longhorns. What will the offense look like as they try to get back on track after three late-game letdowns? Can Bijan Robinson get back on track against the worst run defense in the conference? And will the offensive line gain some much-needed confidence as they prepare a crucial stretch for Texas? Defensively, can the Longhorns manage to avoid giving up another massive performance on the ground and allow the passing defense to find its footing late in the game? Longhorn Republic: November 9, 2021 - Iowa State Recap Nov 09, 2021
    Show notes

Thanks to a loss at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones, the Texas Longhorns are riding their first four-game losing streak since the 2010 season. Texas was unable to generate a positive sequence on offense in the second half, putting up one of the worst offensive performances in school history. That positioned the defense to once again struggle with short fields and short rest as they fought against what seemed like an inevitable blowout. Texas made the switch from Casey Thomspon to Hudson Card due to early-game struggles and a possible injury to Thompson, but nothing sparked the offense and Texas languished for 60 minutes. Now Texas must win two of its last three games to gain bowl eligibility and keep this from getting more embarrassing. So where does Texas look for answers? Longhorn Republic: November 4, 2021 - Previewing the Iowa State Cyclones Nov 04, 2021
    Show notes

The Texas Longhorns head into Ames, Iowa, hoping to snap both their three-game losing streak this season, as well as trying to avoid a three-game losing streak against the Iowa State Cyclones. The Longhorns have lost with the same script in the last three outings, building an early lead and then letting it slowly drift away. The Cyclones are a team that would love to use the same methodology that the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Baylor Bears used to beat Texas - weather the early storm and grind out a win on the ground. They have one of the best backs in the country in Breece Hall, who is coming off a 167-yard performance in their lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers. Quarterback Brock Purdy struggled early in the season but has come on over the last four weeks, passing for 945 yards and eight touchdowns in a 3-1 stretch for the Cyclones in October. Longhorn Republic: November 2, 2021 - Recapping the Baylor Loss Nov 02, 2021
    Show notes

After dropping yet another lead, this time at the hands of the Baylor Bears, it's starting to feel like a recurring nightmare for the Texas Longhorns. Texas led 24-10 before the points dried up and the defense struggled to keep up with the line they were asked to hold, leading to another collapse from the Longhorns as a team. Offensive miscues on the line and at receiver led to a tough day for quarterback Casey Thompson - who still managed more than 200 yards and a two touchdowns in the loss. Part of the struggle was Baylor and Dave Aranda's plan to limit Bijan Robinson worked, holding him to a season-low in yardage and a career-low in yards per carry. The Longhorns also struggled from multiple drops and unforced errors - giving the Bears defense life repeatedly. Defensively, the Longhorns played their typical bend, don't break style that held in the first half but fell apart late as the defense started to run out of gas.
