Americans have been told to distance themselves from crowds of people as much as they possibly can as a way to flatten the curve of the rising numbers of people who are diagnosed with #COVID19. This social isolation is forcing people to stay at home more than normal where their interactions with others might be minimal—especially if they are living alone. We simply cannot forget about our basic human need to connect with others even in the midst of an unprecedented crisis. ⁣ ⁣ That’s why it’s so very important right now to not entirely isolate yourself socially from friends, family, and other important people in your life. Text messaging, video chat, and of course talking on the phone with the people that matter the most in your life will keep you connected and calm in the midst of all the chaos.

1625: Brittany Davis On Her Own Childhood Trauma And How She Overcame It Mar 18, 2020
    Show notes

Low-carb/Keto Life Coach Brittany Davis is our special interview guest on Episode 1625 of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.

“I’m not saying that every day I have a smile on my face, but I make a point in moving toward positivity every chance I get.”

    – Brittany Davis

Brittany Davis ( https://www.instagram.com/realfood.reallife/ ) was raised in a small town on a small budget. She was mentally, physically and sexually abused by my step-father, causing her to struggle with eating disorders all through her adolescent years and into her early 20s. She witnessed the turmoil that is divorce 2 different times, both leaving her even more broken than before. She has endured multiple miscarriages, difficult relationship dynamics, seasons of limited income, self-doubt and pain. Though in the depths of anxiety and depression so deep she didn’t think she was going to survive, but even through it all, she stand by her motto, “STILL I RISE”!

A low carb diet was her saving grace. Two years ago, she found Keto and it lead her down a path of losing 65 lbs and was the true catalyst of her journey facing the past that lead her to 220 lbs of misery.

Through DEEP self work she has been able to stand in front of people and tell them that life is HARD, but we ALL are capable of living the life we want. We are all capable of change and self-growth.

Throughout it all she has learned that we can NOURISH our bodies with food that blesses us and use that blessing to fill our cups to overflow. And when we fill our cups to overflow, just perhaps we can spill what we’ve learned and gained onto someone else.

1624: A Reasonable Response To Surviving The Coronavirus Crisis–And Beyond! Mar 17, 2020
    Show notes

Life has certainly changed for all of us in recent days as governments and organizations attempt to respond to the Coronavirus outbreak. Today we talk all about what is going on and try to help you make sense of it all, including addressing what happens to our bodies when we are in crisis mode.

“Even the natural fears and stress of watching the news can trigger a physiological response. Your body doesn’t care where the stress comes from.” - Jimmy Moore

Since worldwide awareness of the severity of the #coronavirus #COVID19 pandemic has spread over just the past week, it’s having an obvious direct impact on every part of our lives. Normal activities like going to your local gym to workout, shopping at the grocery store or a big box store, or even going to sporting events (which has been entirely shut down across-the-board) as an escape from life have suddenly become a lot more problematic and abnormal. ⁣

Whatever your belief is about what’s going on with this, one thing is certain—the stress, anxiety, and other mental and physical effects resulting from the fear of this is very real. ⁣And most people don’t know how much they’re harming their health because of it. ⁣⁣ People may not even realize just how much their body and mind is being impacted by the constant barrage of negative news about the coronavirus, but the signs are all there if you’re paying attention. Increased hunger, headaches, physical fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, a rise in blood sugar, diminished ketones, and a whole lot more are all probably happening in you right now. ⁣ Self-awareness of this will help you deal with it in the moment and mitigate any lasting effects long after this crisis is over. This is definitely my biggest concern with all of this which is why I’ve been talking about it. ⁣⁣

Listen in today as Jimmy breaks down just what happens to our bodies when we are in crisis mode, as well as a special JIMMY RANTS bonus open forum where he addresses listener’s thoughts and fears.

1622: Keto Teen Meghan on her rise to Instagram success Mar 10, 2020
    Show notes

Why should dietary health matter to teens? Keto Teen Meghan is our special interview guest on Episode 1622 of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show where we’ll talk about it.

“I watched my mom lose over 120 pounds and regain her health and I wanted to follow in her footsteps.”

    - Keto Teen Meghan

Who is Keto Teen Meghan? I’m a teenage girl from Richmond, Virginia and my parents started the keto diet in March 2016. I watched both of them lose weight and get healthy. The day before I started keto, I had a sleepover with my best friend where I easily consumed over 300 grams of carbs! WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!

On July 20, 2019, I decided that I had enough of eating carb-filled processed foods and went keto not for weight loss but to improve my health. It wasn’t easy at first but I knew my health was more important than any carby food I thought I wanted. I didn’t want to go down the same path my parents did becoming fat and sick as adults. Since going keto, I have never felt better. I have so much more energy, my sleep has improved, migraine headaches went away, and I just feel so much better. I started my Keto Teen Meghan Instagram page in August 2019 to help encourage and educate others in their keto journey. Diet is important, but I also like talking about self love, body positivity, and confidence.

1620: Jimmy Moore Returns From His Six-Month Sabbatical And Shares About His New Focus Mar 03, 2020
    Show notes

The day we’ve all been waiting for since Jimmy Moore went away on a self-imposed six-month sabbatical on September 1, 2019. “The Man Of Real” is back today with a brand new focus, and boy does he have a story to tell.

“I know a lot of people show their real lives on social media, but there’s a lot of fakery. That stuff is toxic. Let’s be REAL.”

    – Jimmy Moore

When you start bringing up sensitive things like childhood trauma it could really go south very quickly if you address it too flippantly and without a purpose in mind. But for those of you who watched it already, Jimmy’s primary goal is to be open, honest, and vulnerable in ways you’ve probably never seen anybody be before online—and to leave you with things to think about so you can better yourself. ⁣⁣

There is a very fine line between being real in ways that open people’s eyes to their own life and being a discouragement to those who are still working through issues from their past. I can assure you that I am working hard on finding that proper balance between the realness of all this and the helpfulness of everything that I’ll be sharing. You deserve that and I will always be sensitive to that.

Listen in today to hear Jimmy tell the story of how his life turned upside down just two weeks into his sabbatical, the discovery he made that has led him down a path he never expected, and why he believes that the topic of childhood trauma is more important to our health and well being than just about anything else.

1619: Keto Nutritionist Under Attack For Promoting Low-Carb, High-Fat For Cancer Feb 27, 2020
    Show notes

“These physicians don’t want you to know that fats are healthy for you.”

    – Jimmy Moore

The rise in popularity of low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic diets in recent years has become a worldwide phenomenon. From the United States to Canada to South Africa and Australia, the keto message is out there in full force. And this has obviously upset the old dietary guard who are none-too-pleased by what they look at as LCHF zealots. The perfect example of this–Australian keto nutritionist Christine Cronau is now being targeted by a group called Friends of Science in Medicine who is calling for her to be not invited to speak. Read the story below.

Calls to ban controversial nutritionist from University of Melbourne: https://www.smh.com.au/national/victoria/calls-to-ban-controversial-nutritionist-from-university-of-melbourne-20190319-p515fa.html

Health podcaster and international bestselling author of KETO CLARITY Jimmy Moore, who has shared the stage with Christine previously, says that this kind of attempt at censorship of a representative of a legitimate alternative hypothesis on nutritional health is anti-academic. Listen to find out why these tactics won’t work at preventing the keto message from getting out there and how, ironically, it might actually drive more people to it in this episode.

Today we have a special JIMMY RANTS on The LLVLC Show for you. Jimmy is on his much deserved six-month sabbatical so we are bringing you some of the best content from Jimmy’s daily show JIMMY RANTS. Be sure to bookmark JimmyRants.com and dig through all of the content there during Jimmy’s time away.

1618: Best Of, Melissa Grabau Says Paleo Has A Vital Missing Ingredient For Lasting Success Feb 26, 2020
    Show notes

“I’m lucky that I never had a complete breakdown of health, but my health was in the toilet. It took me so long to unhook from the standard American diet and get my health back.”

    - Melissa Grabau

Have you ever stopped to wonder why some people are able to fully latch on to a lifestyle change to produce amazing results in their weight and health while others seems to lack that internal fire and motivation to make it happen for themselves? What is the difference between those who succeed and those who remain mired in the mediocrity of their current habits? This is something that is not really talked about a lot in the Paleo, primal, and low-carb communities and yet Roseville, California-based clinical psychologist Melissa Grabau, PhD identifies this as the “vital missing ingredient” in the ability of the health community to bring about real paradigm-shifting change on a massive scale. As a certified yoga teacher who integrates specific mind-body techniques from her training as a psychotherapist, Melissa has found those principles can help people make the changes they sincerely desire to make which she has outlined in her new book The Yoga of Food: Wellness from the Inside Out.

Listen in to hear Jimmy and Melissa dig deeper into why certain people change but most people don’t, her own healing that took place using a Paleo diet, the deep attachment she felt to foods and why she was reluctant to shift her eating to a better way, why the Paleo community needs to do more than pay lip service to meditation and lifestyle, why any lasting change needs to happen in the mind before it happens in the body, the courage it takes to question your conditioning towards eating a certain way, why we all need a crisis in our lives to wake us up to change, the negative role anxiety plays on our lifestyle and eating habits, why people have a hard time giving up their so-called “comfort foods,” how Paleo and yoga can work in unison, why so many people who are into yoga eat a vegan diet, the intimidation factor of the online health community to people in the modern food culture, how to make the message of change more palatable to the general public, and a whole lot more. This conversation gets pretty deep at moments, but it’s something we definitely need to be talking a whole lot more about as the health message we are promoting becomes more and more mainstream.

Jimmy is back with ALL NEW EPISODES NEXT WEEK! While Jimmy is gone on a much needed and deserved sabbatical for six months to rest and recuperate, we will be bringing you the best of the best from the vast archive of shows that Jimmy has accumulated over the last 15 years. We also will be airing shows from his wildly popular JIMMY RANTS live show that originated on Instagram Live and now resides at JimmyRants.com.
