Episode 41 – Jim Harshaw discusses success through failure May 03, 2017
    Show notes

Jim Harshaw produces a very popular podcast called Success Through Failure, and Danny and I wanted to have him on the show to discuss his strategies for using failure as a means to achieve success. Having been a Division I All-American and won three ACC Championships for the University of Virginia, trained at the Olympic Training Center, and competed overseas for Team USA, Jim has experienced significant triumph and devastating defeat. He relates those powerful lessons of failure, struggle, setback, and, ultimately, success to us, and you.

If you want to know more about Jim, you can find more on his website (http://jimharshawjr.com/)

    Episode 40 – Hypertrophy Apr 26, 2017
    Show notes

One topic that is very near and dear to Danny is hypertrophy, or big muscles. So when he told me he wanted to do a show about that, I was all for it. But we wanted to make sure we included plenty of information about how hypertrophy is beneficial to all athletes, not just bodybuilder types.

So we discussed what it is, how it’s useful for all sorts of athletic application, and Danny went through a list of ways to achieve hypertrophy.

Episode 39 – Carlos Dones returns to talk heart rate training Apr 19, 2017
    Show notes

Early on in this podcast, I interviewed Carlos Dones, who is an ultra endurance athlete who uses keto as his primary nutrition. He’s a hardcore advocate and a disciplined competitor. So Danny asked him to come back on and discuss heart rate training and which HR monitors he recommends.

    Also…there’s lots of other stuff.

You can connect with Carlos through Twitter (@carlosdones) and Facebook. He’s also a member of The Ketogenic Athlete Facebook Group

    Episode 38 – Robert Sikes is a keto savage Apr 12, 2017
    Show notes

Robert Sikes began lifting weights, as a way to increase his size and strength, in high school, following the advice of his uncle. Of course, living in a rural area, without the ability to drive places, he didn’t have all the equipment he needed, so he built his own gym using scrap material he found around his farm.

After going off to college, he got serious about body building and decided to compete. When his first competition led him down a destructive path, because of the nightmarish requirements of the orthodox nutrition community, he figured there had to be a better way. After overcoming the eating disorders he had developed, he adopted keto as his primary way of eating.

And he’s been flourishing ever since.

You can get a chance to listen to some of Robert’s lessons learned, insights, tricks, tips, and pitfalls in order to get a shredded look while keto. Danny and I really enjoyed listening to him, and we know you will, too.

Episode 37 – Shawn Stevenson shares the importance of sleep Apr 05, 2017
    Show notes

Shawn Stevenson has one of the most popular podcasts in all of iTunes when it comes to health and fitness (The Model Health Show) and he was kind enough to sit down with me and Danny for a few minutes to talk about the benefits of sleep for physical and mental performance.

Not only did he discuss why getting good sleep is important, but he also shared several tactical things that you can do to make sure you’re getting better sleep, right away.

Shawn’s super smart, smooth, and he knows what he’s talking about, so it’s a lot of fun to talk to him. And Danny and I know you’re going to love it.

    Episode 36 – Brandon Crabill is a keto beast Mar 29, 2017
    Show notes

Brandon Crabill is an all-around athlete, with a strong powerlifting foundation and reputation. But he’s also one of the few people to complete the 666 challenge, called The Mark of the Beast. It involved a 600-pound squat, 600-pound deadlift, and a 6-minute mile, all in the same day.

Brandon shares some of his good, bad, and ugly stories with powerlifting, and with training for the Beast challenge. Danny and I both think you’ll enjoy it.

Also, I give my honest review of Iron Fist. Spoiler alert: It’s not good.

    Episode 35 – Enjoy the journey Mar 22, 2017
    Show notes

Danny and I have talked before about the importance of sticking to they plan you’ve developed. But it never hurts to reiterate some things. Discipline is the starting point for all long-term progress, and part of developing discipline involves the enjoyment of the process. And that’s what we talk about in this episode.

Also, I offer my theory on what makes things funny.

    Episode 34 – Listener Questions Mar 15, 2017
    Show notes

Danny and I asked for questions from the Ketogenic Athlete FB group, Twitter, and other sources, and then we answered them. Pre-workout supplements, insulin resistance, blood glucose levels, the best kind of exercise, and many more questions get answered in this episode.

And Danny and I talk applying artistic concepts to human existence.

Episode 33 – Work on your weaknesses Mar 08, 2017
    Show notes

Every complete athlete understands the need to address weaknesses, because you will improve when you do. There is a balance, though, and it’s about finding that right balance in your workouts (and nutrition) that will allow you to improve and perform at your best. So Danny and I discuss ways that you can work on your weaknesses with the proper mindset and with an eye toward success.

    Episode 32 – Intervals Mar 01, 2017
    Show notes

Intervals are one of the best ways to train for maximal effects and minimal time. Intervals can be done with almost any form of exercise, and they are a lot of fun, since they change things up and are constantly presenting challenges.

So Danny and I decided to break intervals down, to explain why they are useful, why we really like them, and to give you some ideas on how you can incorporate intervals into your training.
