All these great indie artist groups' names contain the word "project." Their tunes are arranged in a sequenced walk/run session followed by a sprint segment. The BPM range is 108-182.If any tracks are too fast for you, change your pace or shorten your stride. The main thing is to run safe.

    Alice Project
    Alice Project

This is 28 minutes of sequenced BPM running followed by a 17 min sprint section. I've got 2 veteran JogTunes artists and 5 new groups. There's great rock and reggae, and loads of awesome electronica.

The sprint session maxes out at 182 BPM. If you're not used to beat-matching that tempo, slow your pace or shorten your stride. If you have a pulse monitor, this is a good time to use it. The main thing is to run safe.

    53: (40 Min) - Clopet and Alabaster - BPM Range 122-192 May 01, 2010
    Show notes

It's pop and rock by Tristan Clopet and Alabaster. The BPM range is 122-192. If any tracks are too fast for you, change your pace or shorten your stride. The main thing is to run safe.

    Tristan Clopet
    Alabaster

Meet a most impressive, Toronto born, Miami based singer song/writer, Tristan Clopet, and, from Seattle, the awesome, 6 member rock group, Alabaster. Together they provide great music and a perfect beat-matched, interval workout session.
This is a 40 minute session and again I present some fast segments for interval workouts. So watch your pulse monitors and only run the speed bursts if you're comfortable at that speed. You can always shorten your stride or run slower. The key is to run safe.

Check out the track details, purchase options, and more info on this episode's podcast page.

    52: (30 Min) - Presenting Maree McRae - Range 106-190 Apr 15, 2010
    Show notes

Walk and run to pop and country by Maree McRae. The BPM range is 106-190. If any tracks are too fast for you, change your pace or shorten your stride. The main thing is to run safe.

    Maree Mcrae
    Maree McRae

I'm happy to present the impressive artistry of the Denver based singer/songwriter Maree McRae. Her music is not only great for listening but also perfect for beat-matched interval running. The short interval segments are from 2 of her tunes and run at 186 and 190. A longer, slower interval is full track and runs at 179. Don't fret. I've included the complete versions of the faster tunes at the end of the show.

Interval running is not for the faint of heart. Please be sure you're fit for this workout. If you have any doubts you still can enjoy this runset by taking the intervals at a slower pace and/or by shortening your stride.

    51: (45 Min) - Fartlek Part II - Be Free - BPM Range 100-186 Mar 30, 2010
    Show notes

This mixed genre session has a BPM range of 100-186. Be sure you're medically and physically fit for speed.

I recently received an email from a listener/runner who enjoyed working out to my first fartlek show (Episode #21). Coincidentally I was planning to do another one and here it is, Fartlek Part II. The rest of the title, "Be Free", refers to the prominence of tunes about freedom in various forms. There's a leaning towards rock and reggae and social commentary as well.
    Delmar Brown

This episode also features four tunes by Delmar Brown from New York city along with an impressive array of other artists, all from the IODA's promonet. Please see the episode's show notes for purchase options, artists' websites and promonet pages, and other details.

Two tracks, one by Delmar and another by Keno, provide the speed bursts for the interval segments. One's at 180 BPM and the other at 186. Because the segments are 45-60 seconds long, I've included both tracks in their entirety at the end of the show.

As always, I welcome your comments. Please send them to comments at jogtunes.com, post them on our JogTunes.com facebook fan page, or send me a tweet.

I played a Megaphone track on my last Christmas show and vowed that I would bring this awesome rock band back for a solo engagement. All of their podsafe tunes are featured on this mid-month episode of the JTP and sequenced for a really fun 30 minute run.

It's mostly easy going jogging and running with a long interval run at 172 BPM. If you're not used to that speed, run it for 30 seconds then slow your pace or shorten your stride. If you're comfortable with that pace, enjoy over 3 minutes of flat out running.

This episode comes to you thanks to the great staff and 4 of the artists over at Ariel's Cyber PR. It's mostly light pop but don't let that fool you. The tempos move. It's a straight 40 min session that peeks in the 170s and stays there for 4 tunes. That's pretty fast running.

Phil Putnam, David Homyk, Isaboe, and Lily Sparks sing the tunes. Yamasaki provides the instrumental for the intro and outro.

Please find the artists' websites, purchase links to their tunes, and other info on the JTIP Episode #49 page of jogtunes.com.

    Homespun Homespun

I'm finally settled in Austin but the move and the new job still keep my life pretty hectic. So here's another runset that I have for sale but decided to publish for free. There are 4 tunes by Homespun out of Wales. and plenty more by artists well known to longtime JTIP listeners. They include Pippa Rogers, Dialog, Vile Evils vs The Zombies, HOSTYLL, and Low of the Low.

Following these notes is a list of the tunes, the sequence, the BPMs, and other info.

    47: (45 Min) - The Tokyo Beat - BPM Range 129-179 Jan 29, 2010
    Show notes

Momo-J leads a great list of artists and mixed genres in this 47th episode. The BPM range is 129-179. If any tracks are too fast for you, change your pace or shorten your stride. The main thing is to run safe.

It looks like we're definitely relocating from Utah to Texas. To save myself some time during the move, and to give you all a special treat, I've decided to publish one of the JogTunes Indie special runsets for free. So this episode is that runset. The original title is THE JTIP RUNSET #2 - FAR EAST PEACH and it's still available on the JogTunes Store Page free of long voice-overs for $5.00.

All of the tracks are from the Tokyo Far East Peach Label. The company's headed by my friend Momo-J, whose works I've been playing since the early days of the show. Momo-J, a consummate composer/arranger/musician, has written and produced extraordinary new age works that blend many essential flavors of Western and Eastern music. The episode contains tracks that are both old and new to the JTIP and written and performed by these Far East Peach artists:

  • Momo-J
  • Euclid Rhyme
  • Nasca
  • Amir Khan & Hideo Inai
  • Bam Dorner

  • Momo-J

I was excited to learn that Momo-J has a new gig writing the music for the popular Japanese Anime, K-On. You can find K-On episodes here.

    Show notes

A great mixed genre episode featuring returning and new artists. The BPM range is 110-185. If any tracks are too fast for you, change your pace or shorten your stride. The main thing is to run safe.

When I first heard Louinel Jean's new song, "Power of Love", I immediately started planning this episode. It's a perfect theme for the end of a tumultuous decade as it sets the tone for what I'm sure we all hope will be a smoother 10 years aided by the power of love. All of the tunes are about love, and range in BPMs from walking paces to tempos for all out running.

As this is my third anniversary show, I reminisce by bringing back some old tunes as well as introduce some new ones. I found most of the tunes on Music Alley, and for that I'm grateful to Mevio and their fine service to music podcasting.

    Here's the breakdown:

Artists Previously Played on the JTIP:

  • Chrissy Coughlin - Do It Out of Love - BPM 152
  • Lovespirals - Love Survives - BPM 168
  • Melou -Sweet Love - BPM 110

  • Strangers in Wonderland - Will Your Love Fade - BPM 161
  • Artists New to the JTIP:

  • Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Is This Love? - BPM 150
  • Desiradi - Love is the Thread - BPM 185
