Regardless of what level you are at, partnership is one of the most vital keys to success. This is one of our core principles at Von Finch, which is how we are able to help so many investors find relationships that benefit them. Find out more about our investing opportunities here 👉 www.vonfinch.com/invest 👈

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot achieve true success by doing it all on your own. Finding people that align with your beliefs and values can not only help you get to where you need to be, but it can also allow you to expand your horizons as an investor and as a person.

In this latest installment of Mindset Minutes, we define what a partner is, emphasize the importance of having partnerships in business, and how you can go about finding the right people to help you achieve success. And it’s not always about finding the best mentors, gurus, or experts out there—finding a truly beneficial partnership has a lot more to do with connecting with people that align with your beliefs, values; and has the experience to help you move forward.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

1 . Each of us have skills, abilities, and beliefs that are valuable.

    2. Find people that you can align your values and beliefs with.

    3. Figure out what you want, when you want it, and find people that can help you achieve it

E227: Debunking Common Misconceptions About Coaching Part 3 – Trevor McGregor Jun 14, 2021
    Show notes

We’re on the last leg of our three-part series with the one and only Trevor McGregor. Listen as we debunk the common misconceptions about coaching, and why you definitely NEED a coach in your life. Find out more about our investing opportunities here 👉 www.vonfinch.com/invest 👈

When it comes to coaching, most investors usually fall into two groups: the ones that fully believe in the value of coaching, and the ones that think it’s a scam. If you belong to the latter, Trevor is here to shed light on why coaching is so important and why you’re actually missing out by not leveraging it.

Trevor McGregor is a business coach and mentor himself, but he has other people to coach him as well. The world is changing too rapidly for us to keep up on our own. This is where the value of coaching comes in. In this episode, we talk about the importance of having a coach, a mentor, or a teacher—and how it can help you as a lifelong learner.

However, not all coaches are made equal, which is why Trevor also teaches us how we can find the right coaches and mentors who have our best interests at heart. If you don’t have someone helping you navigate your way through this rapidly changing world, there is no better time to start than now.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    1. A coach is not there to tell you what to do; they are there to help you find the right thing to do.

    2. You may be missing out by not having a mentor, a teacher, a coach, etc.

    3. When finding a coach, find someone that is perfectly capable of doing what you want to do yourself.

E224: How to Achieve True Financial Freedom Through Real Estate Investing – Michael Blank Jun 03, 2021
    Show notes

One of the main goals of passive investing is to achieve financial freedom in the most sustainable way possible, but it’s not as easy as it may seem. Find out more about our investing opportunities here 👉 www.vonfinch.com/invest 👈

Michael Blank makes a return to the podcast for this week’s episode, and he’s back to share some more great advice with us. Michael is a successful investor, the founder and CEO of Nighthawk Equity, a best-selling author, and a coach that trains other people how to achieve permanent financial freedom through real estate investing.

Michael is one of the few people that has the passive investing formula down to a T, which is what makes him such a great source of information for all the other investors out there looking to quit their jobs and truly become financially free. For this second interview we’ve done with Michael, we talk about why investing in real estate is often a better alternative to stock investing for passive investors (which may come as a shock to some of our listeners on here). More than that, we delve into why passive investing is not all that passive—and the importance of active learning as you go along, especially when it comes to choosing operators to work with.

Furthermore, Michael gives some great advice on how to evaluate potential operators when you’re just starting out, which has a lot to do with investing in small amounts at first and making decisions from there. If you’re a passive investor that’s new to the game, this is definitely one of the episodes you wouldn’t want to miss.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    1. Studying asset classes is not as difficult as studying stocks.

    2. Real estate can be a better and safer investment, especially if you are striving for financial freedom.

    3. Active learning is still a part of investing even if you are a passive investor.

    4. Spend more than enough time evaluating an operator before investing with them.

    5. Determining your goals first and foremost can help you find operators that match them.

E222: What Passive Investors Need to Know Before Investing in a Syndication – Chris Pomerleau May 27, 2021
    Show notes

Whether you’re just about to start investing in multifamily or are in your first few months, Chris Pomerleau has some golden advice to offer you on this week’s episode. Find out more about our investing opportunities here 👉 www.vonfinch.com/invest 👈

Chris Pomerleau is a family attorney turned real estate syndicator and coach. He entered the real estate industry by investing in single family homes, but later realized the bigger potential in multifamily assets. For years, he worked hard to scale the business, and today, he has over $80 million of assets under management and co-owns Park Ave Capital LLC, a successful multifamily asset firm.

Like many other investors, Chris shifted his career to real estate because he wanted to create more value for the time that he puts into work. And like a lot of our listeners here, he didn’t know much when he started investing in real estate. But with his own experience in the industry, he tells us what we need to know before investing with multifamily syndication.

Chris talks about the best practices that you can apply to your own investing style before striking a deal with a multifamily investor, including how to make sure your business plan aligns with theirs, what to look out for when vetting, and why you need to know exactly what you want before looking for deals. In short, everything that you need to know before you put your money in a multifamily—or pretty much any kind of real estate deal.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    1. Make sure that the syndicator’s business plan is in line with your intention with your money.

    2. If you’re looking to grow your money, cash flow on the first day is not the most important thing.

    3. Invest with someone that knows what to do when things go wrong.

    4. Maintaining an open line of communication with the people at the other end of a deal can go a long way, even if you’re not saying ‘yes’.

    5. Know exactly what you want so that you’re ready to jump when you find the right deal.

E220: Role of Mindset in 180-Degree Career Shifts – Dave Seymour May 20, 2021
    Show notes

If you love watching the TV show Flipping Boston, then you’re going to love this episode that we have in store for you this week. Join Dave Seymour and I as we talk about career shifts, building an empire out of nothing, and finding the right people to help you do it. Find out more about our investing opportunities here 👉 www.vonfinch.com/invest 👈

Dave Seymour is a former military and firefighting paramedic, the star of Flipping Boston, and the CEO of Freedom Ventures Investments. Unlike many real estate investors who have started their careers early in adulthood, Dave did not go on this path until he was in his late 30s. After quitting his day job where he worked 120 hours a week, Dave started his real estate career by flipping houses, and he worked and worked until he built a private lending business, and then an empire in the multifamily sphere.

However, the journey was never easy for Dave. Having basically nothing to start investing with, Dave needed a major mindset shift to finally get out of the daily grind. With his experiences and the challenges he went through, Dave is one of the best people to teach us about shifting your mindset to get to where you want to be, which is the true essence of this show.

Listen as Dave and I talk about how getting educated, finding the right partners, and learning from the best mentors are the keys to success in the real estate world. No matter what kind of investor you are, this episode contains at least one thing that you need to hear.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    1. Build a mindset that if they can do it, you can do it, too.

    2. No matter at what age you are, it’s never too late to start investing.

    3. Having partners that are proven and professionally tested is critical to success.

    4. Invest first with the operator; the people that are on the ground running the project.
