We love a good Q&A session and you have responded with some excellent questions when we asked you a couple of days ago.
    Peter does his biggest Q and A session yet;
How can I speed up my post-natal recovery?
How to spot a good post-natal exercise program, and how to spot a bad one.
Do you need to take fitness supplements during pregnancy or postpartum?
Is a 28-day challenge a good idea for someone who only recently gave birth?
Why you shouldn't run before you can walk...or indeed hold your pee in.
When can I REALLY start to train after a C-section and what should I start with?
I have Diastasis Recti from my last birth and am pregnant again. Is it safe?
I am doing a lot of core work why is my Diastasis Recti not improving?
I healed my DR now I want to lose weight but increase my musclemass. Can I do both at the same time?
In the news this week; No consensus on why exercise works for chronic back pain?
If you suffer from lower back-pain you might want to hang around for this bit. A review of many studies has found that, despite decades of studies, scientists still can't agree on WHY exercise works for lower back-pain. Peter will go through why this is important to remember because not all back-pain is created equal.

With marriage and family therapist Catherine O’Brien Feb 21, 2021

Peter interviews Catherine O’Brien a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of HappyWithBaby.com.
She's the author of Happy With Baby: Essential Relationship Advice When Partners Become Parents.
She also acts as a California state co-coordinator for Postpartum Support International and also helped to establish A Mother’s Heart in Sacramento, where mothers with perinatal and anxiety disorders go to receive support. Additionally, she participates in the Sacramento Maternal Mental Health Collaborative.
In short; she has qualifications and experience coming out the wazoo!
We are talking about the difference between expectations and the reality of the relationship between parents once the baby is there.
    Things like;
We have a great relationship, how hard could adding a baby to this be?
The feeling of "grief" for your old life. That it's quite natural but can make you feel really guilty at the same time.
How every parent has their own learning curve when it comes to dealing with a baby and how important taking that into account is. There is no set "right or wrong" way to do many things and many parents can have a different approach from each other.
How to negotiate that part of your parenting relationship and not have that negatively impact the relationship between the parents.
She has some tremendous insight into what you can do to keep the relationship going well, and even improve on it post-partum.
Once you've listened to the podcast I strongly recommend joining Catherine's FREE online Facebook community where she provides weekly Facebook Lives with practical tips and encouragment for new parents, as well as interviews with experts.
As you'd expect Catherine can be found on all Social Media platforms

So check them out as well.
In the news this week; A "Fascinating", well..fascinating if you're Peter, study about the detrimental impact of Ketogenic diets. Ketogenic Diets are linked with Cardiac Fibrosis which means that you really don't want to be on them unless you need to be for a medical condition.

Sleep training with sleep consultant Rebecca Michi Feb 14, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Peter interviews Rebecca Michi. Rebecca is a sleep consultant with some tremendous insights into how to get your children to sleep better.
We are talking everything from early post-natal sleep to sleep training when they get a bit older.
Is there such a thing as "a good or a bad" sleeper?
What is actually realistic for a young baby?
Why the first 12 weeks are not the time to start sleep training.
How your child's temperament affects their sleep and how you can help them sleep better by taking this into account.
How not every child needs the same amount of sleep.
And how, if you're happy with how your child is sleeping, you don't have to change anything.
In the News this week; If you read any papers at all you'll likely have come across stories like these "Overweight later in life can prolong longevity" In the Telegraph and various other news outlets (ABS, NBC etc.)
The study they refer to is this one; and the conclusion the media seem to have taken from this is completely wrong. Peter will go through why the media's "interpretation" is flawed and why you can usually ignore the media when it comes to interpretations of studies.
You can find Rebecca on Facebook and Instagram, by checking out https://childrenssleepconsultant.com/ where you will find loads of great resources or by going the SlumberAcademy website

Peter interviews Fozia Haynes. Fozia is the founder of Bodyotics, the pelvic floor specialists.
We are talking all things pelvic floor related but not in a horrible, dry, too-much-jargon sort of way. This is a great chat that will answer a lot of women's questions about pelvic floor issues they might be having.
Why the pelvic floor is important.
We're talking when you can/should you start pelvic floor exercises.
Whether it's ever too late to start them, what you can do about leakage even later in life.
And how to most effectively train the pelvic floor.
Other than going to their lovely website, you can also find Bodyotics on Instagram where they have loads of great content.

We are talking everything to do with selflessness, kindness and the cool things they do at livingforanother.com and their "invest in Kindness" project.
In the news this week; A fascinating study, in mice, that shows that the gut biome can have an effect on early post-partum maternal behaviour which, in turn, can cause growth to be stunted in off-spring. In short; having a healthy gut-biome is likely to have a positive impact on your mental state early after giving birth. It's a fascinating read and it goes back to what we spoke about earlier with regards to the importance of the gut-biome.

Peter interviews Heather Vickery, a success and leadership coach and host of The Brave Files podcast.
She is a mother of 4 (!!!) daughters and author of 2 gratitude books/journals; Gratitude Journal "Shift your focus" and Grow Grateful; "A gratitude journal for kids and families" which you can find on Amazon.
Almost more important than that; she is one of those rare people that you can listen to for 30 minutes and immediately feel better at the end of it.
We are talking how to prevent yourself getting stuck in the "mum role", or indeed get out of that role once you are stuck in it.
We also hit on how it's OK, indeed necessary, to put yourself first sometimes (or at least take care of yourself)
And the tremendous power of gratitude. Heather shares one or two great tips on how you can feel better by just making small changes to the way your approach life and the language you use.
    And, because she is ridiculously kind, she has thrown in a goodie for you lovely HPNB podcast listeners;
The first person that emails her and mentions the show will get a 30-minute 1:1 session. The email is heather@vickeryandco.com

Zuo Yuezi, sitting the month. Interview with author GM Whitley Jan 24, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Peter interviews Guang Ming Whitley author of Zuo Yuezi: An American Mother's Guide to Chinese Postpartum Recovery.
Zuo Yuezi, also called "sitting the month" is a post-partum recovery approach used in China, and in some form or another in many other countries around the world. There is a lot to this practise that makes sense for a new mum to do.
Guang Ming did this after the birth of her son, her daughter, and her twins and wrote a book about it which is a must read for another wondering if there is a better way to spend the first 30 days post-partum.
In the news this week; This is the sort of thing the British government should be sorting ASAP. It is not acceptable that women should see their kids go without medication because of any new rules. We shouldn't have to smuggle medication across the border like we're living in Gaza, for god's sake.
Also check out episode 91, which ties in nicely with this interview. That was an interview with Doula "Jothemomma" which is a great one to listen to.

Doula JotheMama about pre- and post-natal education Jan 24, 2021
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

Peter interviews Jordan Klein, a doula with a passion for education about everything pre- and post-natal.
As Jo says; the "mistake" most women make when they are pregnant is thinking that they will be told everything they need to know, and this is just not the case.
So, for you lucky people, she's agreed to come on to the Healthy Post natal Body podcast and chat to yours truly.
What should every woman know about the pre- and post-natal journey? What is the reality of pregnancy, and the labour process, versus what most women think is going to happen.
What are the benefits of having a doula guide you through your pregnancy and labour.
What is currently missing from most pre-natal classes and how do different hospitals have different procedures?
It's a very enlightening chat and, if you are currently expecting (or indeed are planning another addition to the family) this is well worth a listen.
You can follow Jo on TikTok or Instagram where she shares a TONNE is information in very handy and fun-to-follow videos by searching @jothemama
The "In the News this week" is after episode 92 of the podcast which is an interview with GM Whitley which we are releasing as a double header because it ties in beautifully with this episode.

Peter interviews Bracha Goetz, author of children's books and an amazing memoir in which she shares her story about dealing with overeating.. Believe me when I say she brings a whole new level of positive energy to the podcast!
We're talking "The 5 levels of pleasure". A teaching in the Talmud which gives perspective on, and can help with, many things such as over-eating. It's about learning to find true joy in everything and it's a fascinating listen.
We're also talking about the trappings of social media and how to prevent your child falling into the "I want to be famous" trap that seems to be so easy to fall into.
You can find Bracha's amazing books on Amazon. Just click the little link. Your children will love them!
