Powerback 87: Tools & Tips for Maintaining a Clear and Focused Calendar Apr 15, 2021
    Show notes

Today’s Powerback™ episode is all about your calendar.

There's this unspoken expectation that we have to be available whenever somebody wants us - a client calls or a prospect calls or somebody wants to meet with us and we're just like, ‘Oh, that day is already full but I'll make it work.’

And then inevitably what happens is, you end up overspent for the day!

Overbooking and allowing other people to have control of your calendar is what I like to call a power leak - and it's not serving you nor anyone else.

So today's Powerback™ lesson is tips and tricks on how to take your Powerback™ in your calendar:

    1. Block out one day every week where you don’t meet anyone (not virtually nor in-person!)
    2. Schedule meetings using an online calendar like Calendly
    3. Block out the same day every week for recurring tasks (this will help you stay in your zone of genius!)

Just remember, this is your time and you get to make the rules!

86: #1 Source of Passive Income for Busy Entrepreneurs with Jennifer Dopazo Mar 30, 2021
    Show notes

I see this happen all of the time.

Hell, I experienced it first-hand myself -- you’re a few years into the business and find yourself busy all of the time. You become a professional whack-a-mole player and an expert fire-putter-outer.

You want to scale your business and increase your revenue, but you’re too damn exhausted to even think about it!

My guest today, Jennifer Dopazo, is going to talk about creating passive income (the TOP way, in fact!) in a way that doesn’t leave you feeling depleted - but instead reignites your spark.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • Advice to entrepreneurs who find the thought of ‘niching down’ scary
    • How processes develop confidence
    • The importance of evaluating and testing what you ‘should’ be doing as an entrepreneur
    • Why it’s okay to grow apart from clients
    • What is passive income and some important questions to ask yourself when creating your own passive income stream?
    • Recommendations to people who are struggling with a passive income idea
    • Why does Jennifer believe membership sites are the top source of passive income?
    • The steps people can take to launch a membership site as well as ongoing maintenance tips for membership sites

Jennifer is the owner of multimedia design studio Candelita and a 3-time American Graphic Design Award winner.

Like many entrepreneurs, Jennifer got caught up in the never-ending list of all the things that a good business owner “should” be doing -- setting up passive income sources, following experts’ latest marketing advice, and blogging weekly.

But the more she followed someone else’s blueprint, the more she lost touch with the passion and creativity that fueled her design business.

It wasn’t until she started interviewing creative entrepreneurs for her web series passion-project that she realized there's more than one way to build a successful business!

    Powerback 85: Define 3 Time-Saving Hacks Mar 18, 2021
    Show notes

We all have the same 24 hours in a day, yet some people seem to get a whole lot more done than the rest of us.

So why is it that some people seem to be so much more productive?

The answer: we’re used to being distracted (and it’s sometimes the smallest distractions that catch our attention!)

Today's Powerback™ lesson is about implementing the following three time-saving hacks into your life:

    1. Turn off the notifications on your phone
    2. Close the email app on your computer, laptop, or iPad
    3. Close your social media

This will not only give you back your time. But it will also allow you to be more efficient with your time, allow you to be more creative, as well as stay in your zone of genius for longer.
So the overarching Powerback™ lesson today is ‘if it dings and bings turn that shit off!’

Powerback 84: Shifting the Conversations You Have With Yourself Mar 04, 2021
    Show notes

This week’s Powerback™ is all about shifting those thoughts, those feelings, and those narratives that play over and over in your head.

And this first begins with awareness.

For the next 24 hours, or the 16 hours that you’re awake, I want you to recognize every single time you say something negative about yourself - you can say them out loud or you can write them down.

Then I want you to take your Powerback™ by changing these narratives:

    • Is it true that you’re ugly? (NO!)
    • Is it true that you suck at business? (HECK NO!)
    • Is it true that everyone else is so much further ahead than you, so that means you’re a failure? (ABSOLUTELY NOT!)

When you have these negative conversations with yourself, you’re hindering your ability to step fully, authentically and audaciously into exactly who you are meant to be.

    You’re blocking yourself!

So remember, what you say to yourself really does matter because even though these words are silent, they can be so fucking loud - and that alone is power!

    Powerback 83: Celebrate Someone Else's Success Feb 18, 2021
    Show notes

Have you ever felt stuck in the pursuit of your passion?

Then to make things worse, you come across other people who are seemingly fucking killing!

This then leads to negative self-talk like:

    • I’m not good enough
    • I’m not there yet
    • I’ll never be there
    • Why am I even doing this?

Well this week, I want you to really identify those areas where you're like, ‘Dammit, she's killing it. And I'm not.’

Then take your PowerbackTM by reaching out to those women and say, ‘Go you. Congratulations. I am so excited to watch you grow.’

Now you might be thinking, ‘But Laura, why on earth would I do this?’

Well, for a couple of reasons:

    1. Energy out is energy in
    2. Someone else winning is just proof that you can too!

Remember, this is not about the comparison game. It's about the celebration game!
