Mortal Kombat: Annihilation Apr 20, 2023

Show notes

This week we are talking about a sequel that everyone mentions when it comes to the conversation of the worst sequels of all-time, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. This movie had us scratching our heads over the bad CGI, the turnover in the cast, the death of a fan favorite, the lack of other people in the movie, ninjas flying from the sky but then riding on horses, and so much more. It was a doozy but it was a blast as always.

The next sequel discussed is "Badasses on the Bayou" starring Danny Trejo and Danny Glover, which will be 1st watches for both Jamie and me. This one should be fun and it's wild they made 3 of these movies that all spawned from a youtube video. For it, I chatted with Actor James Mose Black who currently stars in "Renfield" as Captain Browning. James talked about working with Ben Schwartz on that, his early days doing comedy and opening for the Kings of Comedy (plus a great Bernie Mac story), his upcoming short films he's writing and directing, and a lot more. Funny chat and I hope James gets back into stand-up, well you will know why after listening.

We talked about her journey from Minnesota to Hollywood with a stop at Arizona State, her modeling career, how she started doing stunts, being buried alive for a scene, an upcoming film she is directing, and lots more. Terminator Genisys Apr 06, 2023

Show notes

This week we are dipping our toes into the Terminator franchise and starting with the fifth installment, Terminator Genisys. This sequel had us racking our brains over the time traveling and the issues we thought were happening (we aren't time travel experts). We discussed the weird obsession with the Genisys operating system, the amazing SFX, the T-800 applying for jobs, the civilian casualties, not enough JK Simmons, and more.

The next sequel discussed is "Mortal Kombat Annihilation", which is on the Mount Rushmore of sequels that went wrong, but I bet we will find a lot that went right. This movie had a former guest Brian Thompson and next week's guest Marjean Holden. Marjean plays Sheeva in the film and discusses the lengthy audition process and why her fight scene got cut. We talked about her journey from being a P.A. on a movie while going to Arizona State to being in movies in less than a year, how she became a stuntwoman, her new passion to direct, modeling, and more. Great chat!

Actor/Director/Producer Griff Furst (Devil's Peak/Terminator Genisys) Mar 30, 2023

Show notes

The next sequel that we are covering is another first watch for me in "Terminator Genisys" and for it chatted with Actor Griff Furst who plays Agent Burke, but the role of an actor is one of many hats he wears. Griff is also a producer who has a brand new film out called "Devil's Peak" starring Billy Bob Thornton, Robin Wright, and Jackie Earle Haley. Griff and I talked about growing up with an incredible actor as a father in "Stephen Furst" (Flounder in Animal House), how acting school kicked his career into high gear, directing at a young age, how to option a book, Wade Boggs, and more.

The next sequel discussed is "Terminator Genisys", which is has a pretty solid cast and it's film I have never seen which is always fun. For it, I talked with Griff Furst who plays Agent Burke, but when Griff isn’t acting, he’s directing, producing, and writing. Griff has directed a lot of sci fi movies like Lake Placid 3 and Swamp Shark. He has a great story about DB Sweeney and Wade Boggs you are gonna love. He recently produced Devil’s Peak starring Robin Wright, Billy Bob Thornton, and Jackie Earle Haley. We talked about growing up with a big time Hollywood dad, Stephen Furst “Flounder” in Animal House, hanging out on the set of St. Elsewhere and Dream Team, and how to actually get a movie made. Great chat.

Problem Child 2 Mar 09, 2023

Show notes

This week we are discussing a sequel that Jamie has dubbed "the grossest sequel ever", "Problem Child 2". This movie had us talking about how insane Junior is, the number of deaths that would have resulted from his and Trixie's antics, the odd choice of having Amy Yasbeck play a different character than she did in the original (but it worked), and so much. These are the sequels I love, the time period, the great cast of actors, and Gilbert Gottfried.

The next sequel discussed "Leprechaun Returns", which is a direct sequel to the original and I was lucky enough to talk to the Leprechaun himself, Actor Linden Porco.
