The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly summit on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. We'll review reports the Wells Fargo conducted "fake" interviews under the pretense of commitment to diversity inclusion and equity. Non-white people were interviewed for jobs that were already promised to White candidates. We'll also discuss the tragic shooting death of Dr. Preston Phillips, who was killed in last week's Tulsa, Oklahoma hospital shooting. This is a painful illustration of why non-white people, especially those classified as black, should prioritize their security and well-being and inquire, often if needed, about safety initiatives and workplace violence prevention. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the fourth study session on Catherine Pelonero's 2017 publication, Absolute Madness: A True Story of a Serial Killer, Race, and a City Divided. Since we started this book, Buffalo's most recent White Terrorist, Payton Gendron, was charged with 10 counts of first degree murder and one count of a Domestic Act of Terrorism Motivated by Hate in the First Degree. The latter charge is unprecedented in New York state history. Last week, Pelonero detailed the gruesome murders of Parler Edwards and Ernest Jones in October 1980. Both black male cab drivers had their hearts extracted after being killed. Erie County District Attorney Ed Cosgrove denied a link between these two mutilations and the four previous shooting deaths of black males. He then pivoted to admonish black people for criticizing White police officers and peddling "divisive, selfish ideas" and conspiracy theories about a Racist plot against black people. Five days after this press conference, the Bowen Homes Day Care Center exploded in Atlanta, Georgia killing 5 black children. This blast, reportedly the result of a gas leak, was concurrent but unrelated to the ongoing "Atlanta Child Murders." The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Anna Blatto. A graduate of the University of Buffalo with degrees in Sociology and Urban and Public Policy, Blatto is a part-time research associate for Partnership for the Public Good (PPG). Blatto is a White Woman. While in college, Blatto authored the 2018 report: A City Divided: A Brief History of Segregation in Buffalo. The report details a long deliberate, effort on the part of people classified as White to mistreat and subjugate black residents of west New York. This information helps explain the region where Payton Gendron hunted and killed ten black people at an east Buffalo Tops grocery store. We'll discuss the reasons why black people in Buffalo were victims of White Terrorism decades before Gendron was born. We'll be sure to ask Blatto what she knows about the previous White Terrorist to target black people at an east Buffalo Tops grocer, Joseph G. Christopher. Blatto used a few silos worth of metaphors to describe White Supremacy - including how it becomes "harry" contemplating punishments for Whites abuse of non-white people. Blatto also had the audacity to discuss "affirmative action" as if she, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Hillary Clinton and other White Women aren't the greatest beneficiaries of so called Affirmative Action "handouts." Interestingly, NPR just reported that veterans exposed to toxic chemicals will receive expanded medial care. Gus is certain that a number of non-white veterans perished before they could benefit from this expanded coverage. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the third study session on Catherine Pelonero's 2017 publication, Absolute Madness: A True Story of a Serial Killer, Race, and a City Divided. It took more than two weeks, but Gus finally saw a White-dominated media outlet mention Joseph G. Christopher in connection to Payton Gendron's most recent Terrorist ambush. The Buffalo News published a "memorial day" report titled: 'A racist gunman came for Buffalo, but 'racism is not new here.'' Christopher gets exactly one paragraph. During last week's reading of Pelonero's work, Gus and listeners recognized we were ignorant about other White Race Soldiers like Joseph Paul Franklin. Executed in 2013, Franklin murdered and shot numerous black males throughout the 80's. For a time he was a suspect in the Buffalo murders. And speaking of the White Supremacy that has long been practiced in Buffalo, mourners gathered to bury 14-year-old Glenn Dunn in late September of 1980, only to be Terrorized by car loads of White Race Soldiers. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Matt Gryta. A long time west New York resident, Gryta retired after decades of journalism in the Buffalo, New York region. He invested more than four decades as a staff writer for the Buffalo News and has written a number of "true crime" books. Gus is "still learning" and belatedly discovered that Gryta also wrote The Four Angels, which documents the 1978 murder of four black children by their mother, Gail Trait. We'll discuss Gryta's Joey 22, where the veteran journalist investigates the 1980's White Terrorist Joseph G. Christopher. Payton Gendron's May 2022 Terrorist attack at an east Buffalo Tops supermarket left 10 black people dead, but no White-dominated media outlets acknowledged the historical context and similarities to Christopher's savagery in the very same city. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Two weeks after the carnage in New York, where a White Supremacist slaughtered 10 black people at an east Buffalo supermarket, the attention shifted to Texas. Another young gunman with an extraordinary arsenal attacked a school and left nearly two dozen murdered children and staff. More than half of the victims look as though they would be classified as not white. Unlike Payton Gendron in Buffalo, the Texas gunman was killed on the scene by police. Gus is "still learning" if Salvador Ramos is classified as a White Man. We did speculate if the widely criticized delay in law enforcement's response to the Uvalde, Texas tragedy was at least partially correlated to the high number of non-white students held hostage and enrolled in the school at large. As opposed to celebrated heroes, enforcement officials in Texas have been vilified for their response. The director of the Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw conceded officers made the "wrong decision" waiting approximately one hour before violently confronting the (racially ambiguous) killer. It's noteworthy that officers rarely take this cautious approach when they engage a black suspect. Many non-white people noted that the Texas massacre distracted attention from the White Supremacist violence in west New York. President Joe Biden and other Whites are conducting their cowardly whining about gun control. As per usual, there is no benefit to non-white people discussing any of these events in the workplace. Even if you work with exclusively non-white people, you risk igniting conflict discussing these controversial and emotional issues in the workplace. Keep dialog centered on workplace duties. Also, numerous workers report that their colleagues are behaving as if Covid-19 has been permanently vanquished. Is this the case in your area? Do your best to insure your safety while in the workplace. We'll also hear about Dr. Dare Adewumi disgraceful mistreatment while leading the neurosurgery department at Atlanta hospital.
