Ms. Michaelsen remains connected to American politics and literature, and incorporated The New York Times's bestselling young adult novel, The Hate U Give into her teaching curriculum. This broadcast is designed to promote participation from Victims of Racism beyond the United States and/or non-white people who are unable to join us during our typical broadcast time. While U.S. citizens spent the week carving turkeys and binge shopping, England continues to grapple with the logistics of Brexit. We'll ask our blacks in Briton if they have thoughts on this process, or how this may impact black people moving forward. We'll also disuss proposed package to compensate White farmers (squatters) who had farm land repossessed and returned to Africans. This move is alleged to help improve relations with the United States (Whites). We'll also see if our international listeners have thoughts on the passing of Pamela Evans Harris. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS Days before the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the federal government remains gridlocked in a so-called shutdown to keep non-white children from leaping the border to hold hands with White children. Iowa Congressman Steve King claimed to be a victim of political correctness after being chastised for defending the terms "White Nationalism" and "White Supremacy." Since the U.S. Representative has years of history making racist comments, it's difficult to imagine him losing office or being otherwise adversely impacted. Speaking of accountability, former Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke was sentenced to fewer than 7 years in prison for the 2014 murder of 17-year-old LaQuan McDonald. This same week, three of Van Dyke's fellow White officers were acquitted for covering up McDonald's slaying. Similarly, Vermont Attorney General T.J. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our debut study session on Harriet Jacobs's Incidents In the Life of a Slave Girl. This seminal slave narrative was referenced in the preceding two books of study - Pamela Evans Harris's Black Love Is A Revolutionary Act and Dr. Tommy J. Curry's The Man-Not: Race, Class, Genre, and the Dilemmas of Black Manhood. The grizzly details of torture, rape and White cruelty paint a picture of slavery in this part of the world. Jacobs's narrative provides another illustration of the sexual terrorism that has remained a primary component of White culture. The text was published in 1861 - coinciding with the start of the Civil War. The so called government shutdown proceeds while President Donald J. Trump demands finances for border security to keep invading dark people at bay. In Houston, Texas, 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes was buried, and two black males have been arrested and charged with her death. Critics, including former Wisconsin sheriff David Clark, chided the local sheriff and furious citizens who followed initial reports that a White man conducted the shooting. While thousands fret over labor strife and murdered black children, a television series on soul crooner R. Kelly attracted millions of viewers. After all these years of rumor and accusations, the singer has not been charged or arrested for a crime. The Context of White Supremacy hosts our 11th and final study session on Dr. Tommy J. Curry's The Man-Not: Race, Class, Genre, and the Dilemmas of Black Manhood. We were motivated to read this text after concluding Pamela Evans Harris's Black Love Is A Revolutionary Act - a poorly researched book that unmercifully attacks black males. Many male and female found nothing wrong with black males being cursed and called derogatory names and accepted the premise that black males are the primary obstacle to ending White Supremacy. Dr. Curry's 2017 publication directly addresses black misandry - dislike of, contempt for, or ingrained prejudice against black males. The book explores how multitudes commonly charge black males as being guilty of patriarchy and hatred of black females, while the evidence shows black males lack the power to protect themselves much less dominate anyone else. Last week's session examined Kimberlé Crenshaw's theory of intersectionality. Dr. Curry submits that this theory focuses attention on the abuses of black females, while erasing the vulnerability of black males while suggesting that they are less powerful versions of sexist White men.
