The Business of Being Yourself with Tiffany Han (formerly Raise Your Hand Say Yes)

Everyone wants to teach women how to build businesses, but almost nobody is talking about the woman doing the building. But after 16 years in business and nearly 3 million podcast downloads, I’ve become convinced of something: You are the best asset your business has.

Which means that who you are, how you show up, what you believe, and what brings you to life are the business-building tools we *need* to be talking about. In this weekly-ish show, I explore ambition, creativity, visibility, reinvention, delight, and the messy, ongoing work of becoming more yourself on purpose. Because being who you are isn’t something you do after you’ve made it, it’s what makes everything else possible.

Ep. 187: How to Navigate Change...in Real Time Mar 27, 2018
    Show notes

Today I'm talking about how to deal with navigating change, and this episode is auto-biographical as I'm right in the midst of making some huge changes around my home life (hello, let's move states!).

I'll take you through the steps I'm using right now as I gingerly tread through this shift and try to stay sane in the process.

Want the cliff notes? Here are my 8 steps:

    1. Remember why you want it.
    2. Remember that you want it.
    3. Let go of having answers that will appease other people's anxieties.
    4. But create external accountability if that helps.
    5. Self-care like whoa.
    6. Sleep.
    7. Say when it's hard.
    8. Remember that you'll be so grateful for this experience someday.

Change is important, and it's hard. And we're all in it together.

Ep. 186: Leah Vernon on Owning Your Story Mar 20, 2018
    Show notes

I was so excited to get to interview Leah Vernon of Beauty and the Muse for this week's episode!

Leah and I covered SO MUCH in this conversation, including:

+ what graduate school taught her about bouncing back from rejection
+ how to be unapologetically yourself
+ how to find your people and the right kind of support
+ how to develop a writing habit
    + the acceptance of anger
+ how to let go of what other people care and think

Oh, yes. Profound things happen when you let go of the need to keep other people comfortable at the detriment of yourself. Amen and hallelujah!

    Enjoy, enjoy!

    Show notes

I was so excited to finally get to talk with De'Ana Fierce, founder of The Modeling Standard, for this week's episode! We covered making leaps, finding confidence, and why respect is so critical.

    You'll hear us talk about:
+ how De'Ana went from police officer to model (and nope, she wasn't discovered at a mall!)
+ how to deal when listening to your intuition doesn't pay off immediately
+ why it's okay to want more for your life and creative work
+ how you can choose confidence and where to find it
+ ...and what to do if you aren't quite ready to make a shift.

If you are craving confidence or are ready to step into a new phase, this episode is for you. Have a listen and then get excited. You've got big work to do.

Ep. 184: Susan Celia Swan on Using Art to Create Change Mar 06, 2018
    Show notes

Can you use your art as resistance, as a form of activism, or as a catalyst for social change? Yes, you can, and this week, I'm talking with Susan Celia Swan about how to do just that.

Susan is the Executive Director of V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works, and we had such an amazing conversation about what creative women can do to activate change in their local communities and on a global scale.

We also talked about what to do if you want to serve but aren't sure how to get started, the big impact tiny moves can create, and how to deal with the imperfection that can rise up when YOU want to rise up.

This conversation is important and powerful. We've all got big work to do. No pressure, hand raisers! And let's go.

Ep. 181: How to Grow an Idea: A New Path to Creative Productivity, Pt. 1 Feb 13, 2018
    Show notes

Welcome to the beginning of a new 3-part series I'm doing for the rest of February about how you can start approaching your big creative ideas from a different perspective.

This week, I'm kicking things off with a new take on Idea Development and how you can start bringing some of those gorgeous ideas of yours out of hiding and into the world!

This isn't about learning the latest time management hacks or piling more onto your already-overcrowded plate. Because there is a better way out there for you to turn your big, creative ideas into a big, creative reality. But without all the pressure of that, of course. *wink*

Ep. 180: Tiff + Erin on Changing Your Mind and Shaking Things Up Feb 06, 2018
    Show notes

What happens when something that looks so good on paper stops working? And what do you do when that something involves someone you love?

This week, I'm talking with my biz-wife-for-life Erin Cassidy about how we're making moves away from the work that we spent most of 2017 building up and (more importantly!) why we're making that shift.

    The big learnings:
You can love something and still let it go.
Your intuition often knows the truth before you're ready to say it out loud.
Your creative work is constantly evolving. Get out of your own way and let it.

Listen in to hear all about the changes we're making, what it's like to let go of things you worked super hard to build, and how we have all the nervous excitement for what's next!

Ep. 179: How to Deal When You're Mid-Leap (Or Contemplating The Jump!) Jan 30, 2018
    Show notes

Let's talk about the reality of making big shifts. Let's talk about what things really look like behind the scenes of change. Let's talk about the dark side of creative ambition and how it's so easy to let our drive take us to the brink of overwhelm...and how it's easy for that to become our normal.

This week's solo episode tackles those ideas with a few things that I want you to keep in mind as you undertake creative endeavors. Because, yes, you want big things for yourself. But it's easy to forget that those big things usually require big energetic outputs. And it's also easy to forget what's at the heart of all the things we're working so hard to achieve.

If you're mid-leap, this episode is for you. If you're contemplating a leap, this episode is for you. If you're tired of being tired and want to find more peace, ease, and flow, this episode is for you.

Enjoy, enjoy, and remember: you're doing great. You're not alone. Keep going.

Ep. 178: Yulia Van Doren of Goldirocks on Making Magic Happen, pt. 2 Jan 23, 2018
    Show notes

I'm back this week with the second half of my interview with Yulia Van Doren of Goldirocks. In this episode, we pick up where we left off: Yulia's home from Tucson and has $4K worth of crystals in her car...then what? The rest of the story might surprise you.

In this episode, you'll hear about how perfectionism almost stopped Yulia from ever making Goldirocks real, how life stepped in once again to shake things up, and how the loss of the biggest opportunity of Yulia's operatic career led to her being able to write her book, collaborate with Anthropologie, and partner with Herbivore! (You'll also hear about how these partnerships came into her life magically.)

I also asked her to give us a little lesson in Crystals Healing 101 and if you stay til the end, you'll also hear my own hard-to-believe-except-it-happened crystal story!

    Enjoy, enjoy!
