    The Brown Liquor Report

THE BROWN LIQUOR REPORT was birthed at the intersection of friends reuniting over heated and humorous discussion about politics and pop culture, chicken and liquor. It has quickly evolved from just an innovative way to catch up and share thoughts on hot topics, to a hot weekly podcast with an ever-growing following. It has emerged as a unique voice for Generation Xers who find themselves straddling ratchet and responsibility. It is the podcast for those who want to learn more about social justice, pop culture, and politics while enjoying the best 90’s hip hop beats and a pour of their favorite vice, free of judgment.

Ep. 126 - The Ballot or the Bullet Oct 29, 2018
    Show notes

Greeting folks, friends and bammas. Here we are, back at it again to hold your hand through the fuckery and foolishness of your timeline; and what a timeline it was this week! We were once again joined by our good good friend Mike from Faith Uncut to discuss the tragic events of the week. From hate crimes in Kentucky, assassination attempts by mail and the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA, we break down the events and impact of each. We also discussed the historical context of the asylum caravan traveling to the southern border. All this and more, this week on the show. So pour something out, kick back and sit a spell. #dontstoplistenlisten #blr

Ep. 125 - A Shot and a Prayer (feat. Nicki Mayo and Faith Uncut) Oct 22, 2018
    Show notes

This week, on a special crossover episode of BLR/Faith Uncut, we break down for you, our dear listeners, the enormity of the 2018 midterm elections. With a little help from our friends Mike Richardson, Amera Bee and Nicki Mayo, we hold your hands through the foolishness and fuckery of the upcoming races. From Stacey Abrams in Georgia to Andrew Gillum in Florida, and Ben Jealous in Maryland, we break down the Gubernatorial races that matter, along with House, Senate and ballot initiatives that matter to our listeners. How important is immigration? How did an Irish guy get a Spanish nickname? Is Ben Jealous running for Governor or nah? Who is my favorite auntie with the good cornbread and the tricep testimony voting for? All that and more, this week on a special Brown Liquor Report/Faith Uncut election extravaganza! Pour something out and say a little prayer. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR #faithuncut

Ep. 124 - When They Go Low, We Kick Them In The Head Oct 16, 2018
    Show notes

This week on the pod, we discussed the effects of celebrity and pop culture on our politics and the Presidency. Mr. West met with Mango Mussolini for the least productive lunch meeting, and Taylor Swift betrayed her people and endorsed Democrats in the Volunteer State. As the midterms loom, calls for civility have increased and we, the BLR think: Fuck that! Obama's anger translator Eric Holder told us to kick Republicans in the head when they go low and we agreed. All this and more, this week on the Brown Liquor Report. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR

    Ep. 123 - Wee-Bey Moves to Wyoming Oct 08, 2018
    Show notes

Greetings friends of the pod. This week, we are Wee-Bey and Wee-Bey is us as we grapple with the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, and how a minority of the population just appointed him to a lifetime job after he swore vengeance on the rest of the country that didn't vote for him. We discussed proportionate Congressional representation and how we should all move to Wyoming to really affect real change. Elsewhere, Biff Tannen weaponized white victimhood yet again and Bette Middler had a moment. We know it's a lot, but worry not as we hold your hands through your timeline and comfort you with whiskey and wit. Pour something out and sit a spell. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR

    Ep. 122 - I Hate My Timeline! Oct 02, 2018
    Show notes

Whew, that was a rough one huh? Greeting friends, lovers and bammas alike. This week, we held both your hands, looked you deeply in the eye and told you it was going to be okay as we walked through the worst possible timeline with the aid of whisky. We talked about terrible people that for some reason think otherwise of themselves. Cosby, Kavanaugh and Kanye were in the timeline and we broke down their fuckery and foolishness the best way we knew how. We also explored the weaponization of sexual assault allegations as an outgrowth of dismantling patriarchy. On a lighter note, we may or may not have confessed to petty theft at the self check out. All that and more, this week on the Brown Liquor Report. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR

Ep. 121 - Is Katt Williams the Allen Iverson of Comedy? Sep 24, 2018
    Show notes

Greetings lovers, friends, and bammas alike. This week, we discussed gatekeepers and preservers of the culture and who gets to participate in that preservation. We caught up from our week off as we talked about A Pimp Named Slickback and his hating ways with Frank Ski, Wanda and the rest. 45 continued to not shut the hell up and managed to victim shame the internet in defense of his shitty SCOTUS nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. We talked all this and more with all the authority that whiskey provides, this week on the Brown Liquor Report. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR

    Ep. 120 - Weekend At Trumpie's Sep 10, 2018
    Show notes

What up friends lovers, friends and family. This week on the show we discussed the short, yet jammed packed week that was. We talked the fuckery and foolishness of the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, Nike laundering their reputation through the good works of Colin Kaepernick, and our forever POTUS calling a thing and a piece of shit, all with the authority that whiskey provides. Also the strange reality of a cowardly coup that just might be the opps. Have a seat, a listen and pour something out. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR

    Ep. 119 - Posthumously Petty Sep 03, 2018
    Show notes

Hello listeners, friends of the pod, and bammas! This week we all had "chu'ch" as we communed with the ancestors and sent our Queen off in style. We reflected on the good, the bad and all the gorgeous Blackness of the Homegoing of Ms. Aretha Franklin. John McCain transitioned as well, robbing Twitler of his coveted spotlight, so he responded the only way he knows how, in petty. Also this week: Andrew Gillum, the progressive Democratic nominee for the Gubernatorial contest in Florida stayed focused against racists racing it up; all your faves remain problematic and much much more. Like, share, comment and pour something out. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR #podsincolor #podcast #funeral #queenaretha #aretha #johnmccain #petty #ancestors #blackmedia #media #florida #governor #andrewgillum #famu #largo

    Ep. 118 - Schadenfreude and Shit Aug 28, 2018
    Show notes

Greetings and salutations friends of the pod. Per usual the week that was, was long, crazy and full of terrors. 45, or the Unindicted Conspirator-in-Chief, had possibly his work week in office with his former campaign manager and personal lawyer being found guilty of federal crimes with his own lawyer implicating the alleged President of The United States in his crimes. The hits kept on coming with Cheeto's friends and possible codefendants singing to prosecutors like Shaggy (It wasn't me!). We gave our tentative stamp of approval to the official list of singers at our Queen's Homegoing and gave a few more suggestions. We also discussed the ashiness of the supposed "diaspora wars" and those without the range to wage them properly. All this and more, this week on BLR. #dontstoplistenlisten #BLR #Schadenfreude #aretha #tribute #cohen #luvvie #tevincampbell
