E57: Mary Hollis Huddleston: How Embracing A Crisis Can Strengthen Your Life & Business Jul 01, 2020
    Show notes

Southern hospitality. Tradition with a twist. And a bit of sarcasm. That’s what you’ll find here with Mary Hollis Huddleston, on Mrs. Southern Social. She is a Nashville native who loves entertaining at home, but believes in the power of “delegation.” She started in the event-planning business in Dallas right after graduating college. One marriage, one baby, and eight years later, she “retired” from wedding planning, and moved back to Nashville to settle-down for good. Along with her husband, Mary started Please Be Seated, the largest luxury event rental company in Nashville.

“So if you have a day job, why Mrs. Southern Social?” To that Mary says, “Well, I’m a working Southern woman who loves welcoming people into my home and throwing dinner parties, but I don’t have the time nor energy to spend hours on Pinterest, cooking or decorating myself. Thankfully, times have changed, and we no longer have to rely on just ourselves to make things happen. In fact, it’s so much easier if we don’t. From iced cookies, invitations, catering to flowers, I’ll share ideas, inspiration and contacts that will hopefully make your life a bit easier one cocktail party at a time.”

“Southern charm without lifting an arm,” is her motto. Now friends, let’s celebrate…

In this episode, Mary speaks to:

    - How learning tools to handle small crises can prepare you for an unexpected big crisis

    - The silver linings for your business that can come out of trying times

    - How self-care doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective

E56: Brady Toops: How to Understand Your Mind by Listening to Your Body Jun 24, 2020
    Show notes

Blending Americana, folk, and soul, Brady Toops offers a unique and distinct sound in the Singer/Songwriter world. His latest LP "Tried & True" debuted at #22 on the Billboard Heatseeker and Folk/Americana Charts and is Toops' boldest and most honest record to date showcasing a rootsy, soulful sound that builds off his previous work. With over 3 million spins on Spotify and extensive U.S. touring in the last few years, Toops has garnered national acclaim sharing festival stages alongside NEEDTOBREATHE and Switchfoot, as well as opening for the likes of Drew Holcomb, Ben Rector, and John Mark McMillan. Originally from a small Minnesota town, Toops spent the majority of his early years running around on diamonds and athletic fields. After playing baseball at the University of Arkansas, as well as making a brief stint in Minor League Baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, he left the world of athletics in 2006 to pursue music. A few years later, Toops moved to Nashville, TN, and released his debut self-titled album in 2013. In 2015, Brady appeared on Season 11 of ABC's hit reality TV show "The Bachelorette". After a highly adventurous summer with a surplus of emotions and newfound experiences, Toops returned to songwriting. Toops is also the host of a podcast that explores spirituality called "The Unravel with Brady Toops".

In this episode, Brady speaks to:

-Identifying when it is time to make a life change or tweak

-How paying attention to your body can help you understand your emotions

E55: Bobby Hoyt: How to Build and Scale Multiple Businesses Jun 17, 2020
    Show notes

Inspired by a mentor to reach for more after starting MillennialMoneyMan.com and paying off his loans, Bobby Hoyt began a pursuit of all things personal finance. “My basic philosophy at M$M is simple: I’m going to teach you how to make more money, save more, and pay off debt… and make sure you have fun while you do it.” Through his work on Millennial Money Man, he hopes to help change the face of personal finance in Gen Y by challenging his readers to slay their debt, increase their income, and plan for their future. Since quitting his band director job after earning $3 in ad revenues (a tactic he doesn’t recommend to students of his blogging courses) he has grown his blog to reach over 2 million readers each year. He’s a regular personal finance columnist for the American Psychological Association, and has made appearances on major media outlets such as Forbes, CNBC, and MarketWatch. A firm believer in the importance of the side hustle (and an educator who values sharing his knowledge), he partnered with Mike Yanda to teach through multiple courses at Laptop Empires. Bobby lives in the Houston, Texas area with his wife Coral, their wonderfully strange dog Strider, and can usually be found on the golf course, or boating on some body of water when they aren’t traveling.

In this episode, Bobby speaks to:

    - What led to a major leap of faith and career change

    - How to build the your business so you can live a life you love

    - The importance of building a team to help you manage your business (or businesses)
