    Show notes

I'm sure everyone has heard this already, but just in case you've been living under a rock:NBC made an announcement this week at the TV Critics Association press tour that THE OFFICE has been officially picked up for a FOURTH season with a full compliment of 22 episodes. Also renewed are HEROES, MY NAME IS EARL, and LAW & ORDER: SVU. The mind boggles at what plot developments await us in 2007-2008!

    The Office -- Episode # 3.14 "The Return" Jan 18, 2007
    Show notes

Tonight's the night-- Oscar finally returns... Jim, Pam & Karen will hopefully get revenge on Andy for last week... Dwight will (hopefully again) make his triumphant return to the office, thus restoring balance to the universe.Post your comments below.I promise not to delete the thread this time...EDIT:Seriously, WTF is going on with Andy? Has he gone off his lithium?Angela... damn, made me teary eyed again. Oscar... um... not an auspicious return. Same old stuff. "not right now, but ask me again 10 years ago" -- Brilliant."I have a big personality" -- oh Phyllis! El oh el!I think it's strange/odd that Jim and Pam are sort of coming back together by default... no one else is as childish! Not that manic-Andy doesn't deserve it. But remember what happened when Jim put his calculator in jello? I think a return of psychotic-Andy might be around the corner.Kinda weird feeling so far... nowhere near as good as last week... very strange vibe. Liking some of it, not liking other bits.Love that Mexican lemonade (with the "enye," natch).EDIT 2:"We broke his brain..." DUH.Daaaaaaaaaamn Halpert... "yes"? "YES"? Just like that?WHAT THE FLIPPING HELL??THERE'S A PRODUCER'S CUT? ANOTHER ONE!??!ARRRRRRRGGG! THANKS FOR THE WARNING!EDIT 3:Am I imagining things, or did they play "Up Where We Belong" during the scene where Michael comes to get Dwight? Vaguely creepy, to equate that scene with "An Officer and a Gentleman"...

    I Totally Schruted It... Jan 18, 2007

Somehow I managed to deleted the entire thread for episode 12 and 13. It's since been reposted, but I've lost all of the awesome comments. ARG!From now on, maybe I should let Ian take care of running the blog page.My apologies.

Michael's back from Jamaica, but is Scranton ready to take a chill pill and embrace the island lifestyle? Is Jim ready to allow Karen to live on his street? Will Pam ever find her Midol? Then we're on the road again, as our crack sales staff pairs off to doubleteam the crap out of area businesses... Will Phyllis let the cat out of the bag? Will team Jwight rekindle the old magic? Will old Jim teach young Jim new tricks? And Remember friends-- while today it is us, we all shall fall! Incidental music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network. No Soup For You! Jan 16, 2007
    Show notes

Well, despite the nominations, the Hollywood Foreign Press has shown no love for THE OFFICE tonight.Alec Baldwin (from NBC's 30 ROCK) beat out Steve Carell for the BEST MALE ACTOR IN A COMEDY award, and FUGLY BETTY took the BEST COMEDY category. Ah well. Can't win 'em all.WE know it's the best show on TV, anyway.

    The Office -- Episode # 3.13 "Traveling Salesmen" Jan 12, 2007
    Show notes

From NBC.com:It's time for Michael (Steve Carell) to revisit his roots with the company as he hits the road for sales call duty. Meanwhile, Dwight (Rainn Wilson) attempts to cover up a crucial deadline missed by Angela (Angela Kinsey) while Karen (Rashida Jones) is in for some surprising news. David Denman, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Jenna Fischer, Kate Flannery, Melora Hardin, Mindy Kaling, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Oscar Nunez, Phyllis Smith and Paul Lieberstein also star.Post your thoughts and comments here!EDIT:Is this the first time in the history of the show that they've used an abbreviated opening theme song?Holy crap, 7 minutes in, and this episode is pure comedy gold... GOLD, I tells ya!The beauty parlor, the "young Jim" photo... Dwight in the car "psyching" up... "Hawkman"... Sigh! I love you, Cousin Mose! You write a mean episode.EDIT 2:Go team Jwight!Phyllis?? Oh no you dih-ent!EDIT 3:I literally had tears in my eyes during Dwight's farewell speech... Sniff!Yikes, cliffhanger! BASTARDS!Oompa-loompa, oompity dawesome... this episode was totally awesome!EDIT 4:Oh, Snap! Hell hath no fury like a pissed off Angela.

iTunes Offers A Little Something "Extra" Jan 12, 2007
    Show notes

I still haven't caught up with the first series yet, but HBO has just offered the first episode of series two of Ricky Gervais' EXTRAS as a free download through the iTunes Store. Not really sure why, but HBO has this technically marked as a PODCAST, and NOT a TV show (perhaps it's to keep the filesizes small, since Apple seems to demand a much higher resolution for their TV episodes than the iPod can display). Long story short, it will show up in your VIDEO PODCAST menu (oh, and you can still download and watch the episode even if you DON'T own an iPod-- iTunes works just fine).

Beesley: The Vampire Slayer? Jan 12, 2007
    Show notes

So we've already had a special Ivan Reitman directed episode, a Ricky Gervais written episode, and we're still awaiting the J. J. Abrams directed episode to hit sometime soon.News hit the blogs this week that none other than "Mr. Firefly/ Buffy/ Astonishing X-Men" himself, JOSS WHEDON, is now onboard to direct an episode of The Office as well.According to Televisionary:Rumor has it that Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator and TV ubergod Joss Whedon will return to television to direct an upcoming episode of NBC's hit sitcom (and Televisionary obsession) The Office. The move marks Whedon's first return to the small screen since the release of Firefly feature film spinoff Serenity. Before that, the prolific creator wrote and directed a number of episodes on Buffy, Angel, and Firely (and wrote his fair share of Roseanne scripts as well).Entertainment Weekly verified the rumor yesterday, so it seems a lock. What, if anything, will Whedon bring to our favorite work-space? Only time will tell.

Double The Laughs! Jan 10, 2007
    Show notes

After looking over our options for how to get episode #12 "Back From Vacation" out the door, Ian and I were faced with several key issues:

    1. We normally prep/record the show on Sunday. Because of unforseen circumstances, I was out of town for both Sunday AND Monday. So far, no prep-work has been accomplished.
    2. Another new episode is set to air this week Thursday. So what to do? Rush out episode #12 on Thursday, then do episode #13 a mere three days later? Doesn't seem too smart.
    3. I am tired. So very, very tired.
So... here's what we've decided-- our next episode is going to be a double episode, dealing with both "Back From Vacation" AND "Traveling Salesmen." We'll prep it over the weekend, and it will be up at the usual time on Sunday night. We'll try to keep things under 90 minutes, and cover both episodes as best we can.I know lots of people look forward to TWSS to help them through a boring commute or an otherwise tedious workday, but I hope you can forgive us just this once.

    The Office -- Episode # 3.12 "Back From Vacation" Jan 04, 2007
    Show notes

Enjoy the episode tonight everyone... I'll be traveling and won't be able to see it myself until perhaps Friday at the earliest. Not sure when the new episode of TWSS will be up, but I will let you know as soon as I can.Right now, I'm wondering if I should make a detour through Scranton on my way home?Hmm...Edit:Hey, I *did* visit the "Electric City," if only for about 25 minutes. Good times!
