Back So Soon? Feb 02, 2007
    Show notes

So most of us thought Andy Bernard was gone... if not forever, at least for the 10 weeks promised by his Anger Management course. People even mentioned that they enjoyed the Andy-less BEN FRANKLIN episode, so I'm not sure what to make of this news.According to ZAP2it.com, Ed Helms has been promoted to "series regular" status (bumped up from "guest star") for the remainder of the third season. To tell you the truth, after the horrific melt-down we saw these last few weeks, I was glad to see him gone from the office. I have a hard time imagining how they can possibly bring him back into the show after that, but I guess we shall see.

    The Office -- Episode # 3.15 "Ben Franklin" Feb 01, 2007
    Show notes

A mere 24 hours or so away from the next chapter in our little saga-- BEN FRANKLIN. The episode description goes a little something like this:Michael celebrates Phyllis' wedding shower by bringing two adult performers into the office, a stripper and Ben Franklin. Meanwhile, Karen confronts Pam about her past history with Jim.Ben Franklin has an obvious Pennsylvania connection, and in fact they have a big "Franklin-impersonator" that walks around Philly doing appearances and such. I gotta say, though, that I can only imaging what is going to happen in this episode... it sounds so... ODD. But then again, there ain't no shower like a Scranton shower, 'cause a Scranton shower don't stop!Bring it on, boys.

The Office Starts to SAG Jan 29, 2007
    Show notes

Sorry for that horrible title. I didn't catch the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards last night, mostly because I got burned watching the Golden Globes and saw all of my beloved The Office cast members come up with bupkis. While the SAG awards looked a helluva lot like the GG awards, there were a few notable differences: for one, THE OFFICE took the award for best Ensemble in a Comedy Series! Nice job, folks. Steve Carell also got another statue when "Little Miss Sunshine" took the award for best Cast of a Motion Picture. Steve gave the acceptance speech for THE OFFICE:STEVE CARELL: This is quite the honor having these people present this to us.[applause] I was craning my neck, Oh my God! There she is! They're there! Oh my God! Let's get serious for just one second. Webster's defines the word 'ensemble' as follows: a complete costume of complementary clothing and accessories.[laughter] And even though this is not the right definition, I think it applies to our cast.[laughter] I'd like to... we'd like to thank Greg Daniels, our executive producer, [applause] for being the person who assembled the ensemble, and choosing people who get along, who work well together, who enjoy each other's company, who are friends. Also Allison Jones who took part in that trip.[applause] It's really a great honor and we will treasure this. Thank you.[applause]The "people" he's referring to above (who presented the award) were the reunited cast of the classic MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW.None too shabby.edit:TVGuide.com also had some THE OFFICE related information:9:00 Male cast members of The Office (sans Steve Carell, who was readying to present) enter the pressroom after the show wins for best comedy series ensemble. "We're the men of Ugly Betty," quips Rainn Wilson, who reveals that his likeness was used in conceiving SAG's Actor statue: "I actually posed for this several years ago. I was the model for the buttocks." 9:01 Paul Lieberstein (Toby), who's also one of the Office scribes, was asked to offer up a juicy February sweeps preview. "Someone will get married," he shares, "[and] someone will die." Really?!"I'm kidding about someone dying," he adds, "but an animal will attack. Nobody is safe." 9:03 Did actors from The Office get to talk to The Mary Tyler Moore Show cast? "I told [Mary] that I sold her some flatware at Bloomingdale's 15 years ago in New York City," says Oscar Nunez (Oscar). "And now here I am. That's pretty cool."

The TWSS Podcast "Frappr" Map Jan 28, 2007
    Show notes

This is pretty old technology, which has been done by thousands of blogs and podcasts, but what the hell? As I was driving around tonight, I started to wonder about where everyone was located and thought it might be cool to get a graphical representation. For those of you who don't know, FRAPPR is basically a mapping service. You can sign in and leave your details, upload a picture, etc., and you'll then show up on the map of the world along with all the other TWSS listeners who have done the same.Hope to see you there!

Strap 'Em On! Jan 25, 2007
    Show notes

For those of you paying attention, you know that our dear Jenna Fischer is set to co-star in the film BLADES OF GLORY with Will Ferrell and Jon Heder. The plot of the movie? Well, Wikipedia says:At the 2002 World Figure Skating Championships, rival world-class men's singles skaters Chazz Michael Michaels (Will Ferrell) and Jimmy MacElroy (Jon Heder) disgraced their sport with an all-out brawl. Consequently, they were both banned from the men's singles competition for the rest of their lives. After three long, arduous years away from the sport they love, they attempt to put aside their differences and team-up in an effort to exploit a loophole in their suspension. It turns out that there is one category in which they can both still compete: pairs figure skating. Of course, that event is usually reserved for opposite-sex couples and the duo is sure to find fierce competition from rivals far more experienced at the art. Stranz (Will Arnett) and Fairchild (Amy Poehler), the uncompromisingly competitive reigning pairs champions, comprise one such team.I mention this because the trailer recently hit Apple.com (today, in fact). Check it out if you're so inclined. Jenna plays someone called "Katie," who unfortunately doesn't appear in the trailer. Pity.Mr. Crossman, you looking forward to this one?edit:BTW, while you're there, check out HOT FUZZ, the latest from Simon Pegg & Nick Frost (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead)... it looks totally dawesome.edit 2:Kevin sent me a link to a shaky trailer on youtube for SMILEY FACE, a stoner comedy starring Anna Faris. Why should anyone but Creed care? Because a nearly unrecognizable John Krasinski also stars as Faris' "nerdy best friend." Lord, what will the "Jammers" think?

Happy V-Day From "The Office" Jan 25, 2007
    Show notes

Not that I'm above dropping any hints (although both Ian and I would LOVE to receive one of these babies), but I just thought these were cool and needed to be brought to your collective attentions if you didn't know of them already:You get 8 cards for $9.99, apparently... looks like 2 copies each of four different designs.Card #1 reads: Jim & Pam - Outside verse: Secret admirer? Inside Verse: What "secret admirer?" Card #2 reads:Dwight peeking - Outside Verse: So this guy I work with asked me to hook him up with one of my hot friends. Inside Verse: Kidding! Put down the stapler. Card #3 reads: Michael holding red candy heart with all the ladies - Outside Verse: Happy Valentine's Day. Inside Verse: ...or as some say, "the annual review."Card #4 reads: Michael & Dwight fighting - Outside Verse: On this Valentine's Day... Inside Verse: good luck with "conflict resolution."Looks like these can be found at your local TARGET store.

    Episode # 14 -- "The Return" (01/18/07) Jan 24, 2007
    Show notes

Episode # 14 of THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID find both Matt and Ian reaching for the bleep button as Matt goes off the deep end... With Dwight gone, who will fill that oddly shaped hole in our hearts? Why Oscar of course... and not just because he's gay. We also appreciate his mexicanity! Lemonyaday all around! Andy's gotten his wish for more face-time with michael, but is that a GOOD thing? Will Halpert finally step up to the plate and come clean to Karen? There's one thing Ms. Fillipelli forgot about the Scranton branch-- nothing brings two star-crossed lovers together like a mind-destroying prank. Todd Packer Gets "Naked" Jan 19, 2007
    Show notes

In other "sort of related to THE OFFICE" news, David Koechner (known as Todd Packer to you and me) is currently starring in a new show on Comedy Central entitled "THE NAKED TRUCKER & T-BONES SHOW."Comedy Central describes the show thus-wise:Comedy vets David Koechner (T-Bones) and David (Gruber) Allen (The Naked Trucker) bring their off-beat characters to television in a free-wheeling, weekly roundup of their cross-country adventures. Before a live audience, they show and tell twisted tales from the road while mixing social commentary, original tunes (from funk to folk-fried rock) and a lot of jackassery in a one-of-a-kind comedy show that is as diverse as America itself. When The Naked Trucker, a free-spirited everyman, met T-Bones, a lovably cracked transient of dubious moral fiber, in a desert flare gun "accident," a legendary American friendship was born. Now this liberty-loving duo rides an eighteen-wheeler across the country in search of good times, friendly faces and questionable cargo. Each week The Naked Trucker and T-Bones hit the stage to share assorted and sordid stories from the road, a censor-defying tune or two and everything from hobo tips to accidental up-skirt video. Occasionally, viewers will get to see familiar faces from television and film in some unfamiliar places from truck cabs or bathtubs. The first episode aired this past Wednesday (January 17th), but knowing CC it'll be replayed more times than you can stand.EDIT:Also, Koechner was on the 1/12/07 episode of THE SOUND OF YOUNG AMERICA podcast, if you want to check it out.

Feeling Hot Hot Hot! Jan 19, 2007
    Show notes

We've seen a pretty big upswing in downloads over the last few days, and I'm not exactly sure WHERE those are coming from.BUT, browsing iTunes today, I was pleasantly surprised to see THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID listed on the "What's Hot" listing on the main podcasting page! Ian? Grab your steel drum... we've got some partying to do!I'll just take this time to thank everyone for supporting our little show here, and for sticking around while the two of us over-analyze a 21 minute comedy program! And for everyone who has given us a shot recently and are new to the show, I want to welcome you and ask "what took you so long to get here?":)

Another Producer's Cut -- This Time For "The Return" Jan 19, 2007
    Show notes

Maybe it's just me, but the bump at the end of the episode tonight was the first I've heard of a "producer's cut" for this "The Return."According to the NBC.com site, it should be going up sometime after the show airs on the west coast. For those who buy the show on iTunes, you should get the new "producer's cut" automatically.
