Philippines Episode 1 Sep 20, 2012

Show notes

Survivor's back for it's 25th season and that was a great first episode. We're big fans of extended episodes, and the 90 minutes we got tonight gave us a lot of time with the tribes. We got to hear from everyone but Artis and Carter. Malcolm and Russell's mastery of the bamboo saw was impressive, not unlike last season with Jay. The returning players were thrilled to be back, but all of them seemed to stumble right out of the gate. Penner did great by finding the first HII clue but also managed to alienate his tribe. Skupin could not stop injuring himself, and Russell came very close to being first out by falling into old patterns. He owes Zane a big thanks for saving him from that humiliation. What did you think about how the returning players and new castaways did? Who suprised you the most? Did your impressions of anyone change after you got to see them in action in this first episode? What did you think of Zane's gameplay? Was he brilliant but flawed or just another first out footnote? Do you think Penner or Lisa will be the next to be voted out?

Here are the tribes after episode 1. Matsing:Russell, Angie, Denise, Malcolm and Roxy Tandang:Skupin, Abi, Artis, Lisa, Pete and RC Kalabaw:Penner, Carter, Dana, Dawson, Jeff and Katie

Philippines JABBIC Part 2 Sep 16, 2012

Show notes

It's only four days till the first episode of Survivor Philippines airs. It can be challenging to recognize any of the 15, well 13 if you subtract the sitcom and baseball stars, castaways at the beginning of the season, but we've got an answer for that to enhance your Survivor viewing experience. It's called the JABBIC, "Judge A Book By Its Cover", shows. We get started before the first episode airs and record our early thoughts on this new group and make predictions about the degree of success they will experience in the game. Through this process, we find that at least a few of them will stand out from the beginning and it greatly improves the odds of recognizing your early favorites.

This is Part 2 of our "Judge a Book by its Cover" show. Nineteen fans, just like you, recorded their perspective on the new cast including their choice of favorites, who's most likely to get voted out first, make the merge, have a shot at the final tribal council as well as who has what it takes to win it all.

We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great JABBIC show. This week we heard from: Jen, Brian, Samantha, Ryan, BrandonA, Lil' Russ, Aaron, Griffin, KathyS, Survivor_rox, DrewG, BrandonB, Anna, EMP, Rashmi, Keith, Jeremiah, Mikeybear and Paul.

JSFL registration is open! If you would like to join in the fun, click on this link: JSFL Registration and get your picks in before the first episode airs. You'll have to decide who you think will win it all, who will be voted out first, and four castaways that will be safe from the first tribal council. Reminder: you have to listen to the podcast to hear the Listener Reward Bonus questions.

Show notes

Welcome to Part I of our "Judge a Book by its Cover" show for season 25, Survivor Philippines. We have recorded our early thoughts of each new castaway including how well we think they will do in the overall game as well as their basic bio details to kick off another season of watching Survivor together.

Study the pictures, bios and videos at CBS.com and let us know how well you think they will do this season. We want to hear about who you had the strongest reaction to. Who is going to win it all? One World Finale LF May 17, 2012

Show notes

The time has arrived to take one last look back at Survivor One World. We all agree that Kim was a deserving winner. Opinions vary on where she, the rest of the cast and the season as a whole compares with past seasons, but most everyone acknowledges that she pulled off an impressive, dominating win by any standards. We will be on break until September when season 25, Survivor Philippines, makes its debut. Until then have a great break.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Thirty four Survivor Super fans shared their thoughts on the finale, the season as a whole as well as some insights for what we might expect from season 25. SFP Interview: Sabrina Thompson from Survivor One World May 15, 2012

Show notes

We interviewed Sabrina Thompson today. She finished the game in second place on Survivor One World. Sabrina entertained us with some of the best one liners we have ever heard on the show. Unfortunately, her wit and sense of humor were not enough to score the win when it came time for the final tribal council votes. Listen to this interview to hear what she did to prepare, the one thing she did that changed the game, what final tribal council questions she was asked that we did not get to hear and lots more!

SFP Interview: Chelsea Meissner from Survivor One World May 15, 2012

Show notes

Today we interviewed Chelsea Meissner. She finished the game in third place of Survivor One World. Chelsea came out of the gate strong, snatching up chickens with her bare hands to provide for her tribe. The weather and social elements of the game wore her down though, and she offered little challenge for the crown of sole survivor by the end of the season. Listen to this interview to hear who helped her get on the show, why she got so few questions from the jury, what she did that sabotaged her social game and lots more!

SFP Interview: Alicia Rosa and Christina Cha from Survivor One World May 14, 2012

Show notes

Today we interviewed Alicia Rosa and Christina Cha. They left the game in fifth and fourth place respectively in Survivor One World. Alicia will go down in history, along with Colton, as one of the meanest people to ever play the game. Christina will likely be remembered as the most forgiving. As with most things in life though, it's not that black and white as this interview makes clear. Fair warning: Christina likes to talk. Who knew? Listen to this interview to hear how they felt about their edits, potentially vote changing questions that were asked at final tribal that did not get aired, how Alicia's family responded after watching the show and lots more!

One World Finale May 14, 2012

Show notes

Hurray! We finally got a jury that wasn't stewing in their own bitterness, well, except for Troy. Who told the guy with no social game he compared with Richard Hatch? In any case, it was awesome to see Kim be rewarded for being such a dominant player. She did not stand out in the beginning, but as many expected, she was playing at a level most of the castaways were never even aware of. It was funny to hear Alicia compare herself to Kim, thinking they were so alike. She dominated the social game, the physical game as well as the strategic game. She did in one season what it took Boston Rob four to achieve. What did you think of the finale and the reunion show? Were you happy with the result? How does Kim compare to other Survivor winners? How did the season as a whole compare with your favorites? What do you think about Survivor Philippines: 3 returning players who were medivaced out of the game, plus starting with 3 tribes? Do you think the 3 tribe start will help avoid the emergence of a dominant 5 alliance on day 1? Listener Feedback is due by Wednesday, May 16th at 5pm PST.

Congratulations to Marius from Norway, winner of Survivor One World JSFL!

SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 13 of Survivor One World May 11, 2012

Show notes

This week Jo Ann interviewed Greg "Tarzan" Smith. He left the game in episode 13 of Survivor One World. Lots of us thought he was very likely to be first out. We were therefore shocked that he made it to day 36. Listen to this interview to hear which two castaways he saved from being medevaced, the list of injuries he sustained, his strategy behind wearing the women's clothes and lots more!
