Worlds Apart Episode 3 LF Mar 14, 2015
    Show notes

Episode three left a lot of us feeling that it was a bit ho hum, after the excitement and surprises we got in the first two. On the plus side though, we got to see a lot of tribe dynamics which gave us some insights into how the social aspect of the game is evolving on each tribe. This week focused on the at risk players on each tribe: Shirin, Joaquin, Mike, Dan, Rodney, Will and Nina. The five of these remaining are likely at the bottom of their tribes, so it will be critical to see what happens to them if we get a tribe shuffle in the next, upcoming double episode.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Twelve fans shared their thoughts on episode 3 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great show. This week we heard from: Barbara, Jim, ColdMike, Rashmi, Jill, Jody, Drew, BrandonB, Ann, Ronda, Josh, and Paul

SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 3 of Survivor Worlds Apart Mar 13, 2015
    Show notes

This week we interviewed Nina Poersch. She left the game in episode 3 of Survivor Worlds Apart. Nina got a warm reception at the start of the game, and it looked like her deafness would not be a major factor. That changed and she eventually had a melt down that was prompted by how she felt she was being mistreated by her tribemates. She was unable to bond with them and was finally taken out by the majority alliance. Listen to this interview to hear how being a fan affected her game, details on their food situation, her thoughts on her tribemates and more!

    Worlds Apart Episode 3 Mar 12, 2015
    Show notes

It is a classic pattern. A castaway gets booted out of a tribe and that tribe's failure at the next challenge appears like it hinged on that choice. Imagine how the No Collar's would have faired if they had kept Vince instead of Nina. The other classic pattern we were treated to this episode is for the dominant tribe to start to self destruct, and the Blue Collars are working hard on that one too. How is it that all the guys are experts at annoying their tribemates? Mike keeps digging his hole, Dan finds new ways to insert his foot in his mouth, and Rodney appears ready to rage at his tribemates in every confrontation. Meanwhile, over at the White Collars, Shirin and Joaquin are making the next choice to be booted from that tribe super easy too. This episode took us through day 8 and it is clear that the elements are really starting to have an impact on this group. Who would you have chosen: Nina or Will? What's the key to keeping harmony in the dominant tribe? Do you think the Blue Collars will throw a challenge just to get rid of Mike? Is a tribe swap imminent or would your rather see them preserve the tribes until the merge? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here are the tribes after episode 3. Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Will Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

Worlds Apart Episode 2 LF Mar 08, 2015
    Show notes

Overall, episode two continued to deliver on the promise of a solid Survivor season. The gratuitous nudity was a bit much for many of the North American viewers, but it was balanced out with a healthy dose of character development and a great water challenge. Mike and Nina are really disappointing fans with their clichéd meltdowns. Max and Shirin's hipster level of homage actions is not winning the fans over to their side either. Fortunately, there are still plenty of others to cheer for and we are all looking forward to what episode three will bring.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. Eighteen fans shared their thoughts on episode 2 and predictions for what we'll see next. We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great show. SFP Interview: Castoff from Episode 2 of Survivor Worlds Apart Mar 06, 2015
    Show notes

This week we interviewed Vince Sly. He left the game in episode 2 of Survivor Worlds Apart. At the beginning of the game, Vince appeared to be the embodiment of the "No Collar" lifestyle. The more he interacted with his tribemates though, the more they became uneasy around him. Unfortunately for him, it was his concern for Will's health that tripped him up in the end and got him blindsided. Listen to this interview to hear how he was cast, an assessment of his tribemates, how he felt about his edit and more!

    Worlds Apart Episode 2 Mar 05, 2015
    Show notes

Another episode, another awesome blindside! Yes, season 30 is off to a good start. Max and Shirin continued their tribute to past Survivors. Last week it was Tarzan, this week it was Hatch. Dan, Mike and Nina continued to demonstrate that being a fan does not equal a smart player. Will may have struggled in the challenge, but he certainly took control at Tribal Council and decided who would be voted off. The No Collar tribe will likely sleep easier with Vince gone, but do you think they made the best decision to maintain their numbers? Do you think Mike and Nina will recover? What did you think of Max and Shirin's choice? Could you ever be that bold? Did your perception of anyone change significantly this week? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episode 2. Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Nina, Will Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

    Show notes

Many of us were hopeful for this season before it started. It was really refreshing to kick the season off with a great, ninety minute premiere. Based on your feedback most of you agreed. Jenn, Joe and Carolyn appear to be off to a great start. Joaquin, Dan and Mike fumbled their starts, but at least Mike redeemed himself in the challenge. Vince, the life coach, has managed to creep everyone out so far. So, they're not all superstars, but here's hoping this season just keeps getting better and better.

For each episode, we provide 3 podcasts: an episode recap, an interview with the castoff, and a chance for Survivor fans like yourself to sound off on what you saw and how you think the castaways are fairing in the game. This week we interviewed So Kim. She left the game in episode 1 of Survivor Worlds Apart. The Survivor gods played a mean joke on So. She was originally slated to be on season 29, but that fell through. She got a second chance, geared up to play again in season 30 only to be voted out first. Listen to this interview to hear how she prepared, what went on that wasn't shown, a review of her tribemates and more!

    Worlds Apart Episode 1 Feb 26, 2015
    Show notes

Survivor season 30, Worlds Apart, is off to a great start! We got to hear from all the castaways. Some are playing smart, a select few, not so much. Super fan Dan was completely oblivious to how he was being perceived by others, and committing a well known Survivor sin: don't start the game by arguing with and alienating your tribe. Vince came out the gate acting nothing like a life coach and managed to give off a creepy, stalker vibe with Jenn. Will promised his tribe sandwiches. Go figure. Carolyn, who many thought might be first out, demonstrated a great awareness of the game and a good judge of character. It was great to get a blindside right out of the gate. It was a nice twist to see a tribe choose to keep an older female so early in the game. This season is already delivering surprises. How did your assessments of the new castaways change once you saw them in action? What did you think about the twist of having two people choose between Honesty and Deception? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who would you have kept: So or Carolyn? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episodes 1. Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Nina, Vince, Will Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

Worlds Apart JABBIC Part 2 Feb 22, 2015
    Show notes

We are only a few days away from the premiere of season 30, Survivor Worlds Apart. It can be challenging to recognize the new castaways at the beginning of the season, but we've got a solution for that to enhance your Survivor viewing experience. It's called the JABBIC, "Judge A Book By Its Cover", shows. We get started before the first episode airs and record our early thoughts on this new group of castaways. Through this process, we identify a few of them we think will stand out from the beginning, and it greatly improves the odds of recognizing your early favorites.

This is Part 2 of our "Judge a Book by its Cover" show. Fourteen fans, like you, recorded their perspective on the new cast including their choice of favorites, who's most likely to get voted out first, make the merge, have a shot at the final tribal council as well as who has what it takes to win it all.

We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great JABBIC show. This week we heard from: Barbara, Jen, BrandonB, Ronda, Samantha, Frank, Drew, BrandonA, Rashmi, Sandi, Jeremiah, Josh, Jody and Paul. Carolyn was so happy for Natalie's win that she created a song to celebrate it. Make sure to check out the outro song she recorded for us all to enjoy!

JSFL registration is open! If you would like to join in the fun, click on this link: JSFL Registration and get your picks in before the first episode airs. You'll have to decide who you think will win it all, who will be voted out first, and four castaways that will be safe from the first tribal council. Reminder: you have to listen to the podcast to hear the Listener Reward Bonus questions.

We've got several ways you can reach us. You can call and leave a voicemail at 206-350-1547. You can record an audio comment and attach it or just type up a quick text message and send it to us via email at joannandstacyshow@gmail.com.
