Island of the Idols Week 4 Recap Oct 17, 2019

Show notes

Being good at blindsides is not necessarily a plus for your early game, especially if one tribe gets more practice than the other. Case in point, we are headed into a shuffle next week. Blindsides can foster resentment and result in revenge plans. How many tribes will we get? What did you think of the vote off this week? What did you think of this week's IotI challenge? Who do you think is playing the best, and who is still in jeopardy of being voted out before the merge? Who will be next to visit the Island of the Idols? Who impressed you the most? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here is where it stands after week 4. Lairo: Aaron, Dean, Elaine, Elizabeth, Karishma, Missy, Tom Vokai: Dan, Jack, Jamal, Janet, Jason, Kellee, Lauren, Noura, and Tommy

Island of the Idols Week 3 LF Oct 13, 2019

Show notes

The blindsides continued but something shifted this week. Based on the feedback, it feels like the wheels are loose on Island of the Idols and maybe about to fall off. The forced "mystery" combined with a two day game cycle resulted in a confusing edit that left many folks scratching their heads and wondering just what happened. Of course, and often in spite of that, we remained excited see what Wednesday brings us next.

Island of the Idols Week 3 Recap Oct 10, 2019

Show notes

The blindsides continue in week 3 with yet another surprise vote out. The purple castaways from the early game finally got some focus, but we're guessing that neither is too happy with the results. Probst does not seem to be holding back with his assessments this season. He declared that losing tribe was dead in the water during the challenge and then said they "suck at puzzles" at Tribal Council. What did you think of the vote off this week? What did you think of this week's IotI challenge? Who do you think is playing the best, and who is still in jeopardy of being voted out before the merge? Who will be next to visit the Island of the Idols? Who impressed you the most? Who do you think will be next to go?

Island of the Idols Week 2 Recap Oct 03, 2019

Week 1 delivered a "Devastating Blindside". Week 2 dialed it up a notch to what Probst described as "Brutal". What did you think of the vote off this week? What about the balance with the theme? Who do you think is playing the best, and who is still in jeopardy of being voted out before the merge? Who will be next to visit the Island of the Idols? Who impressed you the most? Island of the Idols Week 1 LF Sep 29, 2019

Show notes

It's time to get the Survivor Super Fan's assessment of the first episode of season 39. We all loved that the premiere was 90 minutes long. That provided enough time to see the social game begin on both tribes with sufficient time to introduce the new twist. Not everyone is sold on the twist, but it primarily got positive reviews. Some clear favorites emerged as well some potential villains, and we were really happy to see a preponderance of normal people playing instead of a cast stacked with mactors. We are anxious for Wednesday night when we get the next installment of our favorite show!

We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. This week we heard from: Pete, Michael, Noelle-n-Immie, Shea, Jesse, Kim, Cameron, Nathan, Krystle, Nicola, Rashmi, Kaleb, LeAnn, Taz, Sophie, Matt, Drew, Parker, SlappyMcGee, Jack, Carolyn, David, Rodney, Josh, Kyle, Justin, Jody, Sylvia, KimJ, Jen, and Paul.

Island of the Idols Week 1 Recap Sep 26, 2019

Show notes

There's nothing like a "devastating blindside" to kick off a new season and Survivor season 39, Island of the Idols, is off to another great start! With a full 90 minutes, the twist did not detract from the premiere. We hope that trend continues. We enjoyed getting all the camp time to see the social games in action and didn't miss the marooning. What did you think of each tribe? How do you think the theme will end up affecting this season's castaways? How did your assessment of the castaways change once you saw them in action? Who do you think is playing the best, and who is still in jeopardy of being voted out before the merge? Who will be next to visit the Island of the Idols? Who impressed you the most? Who do you think will be next to go?

Island of the Idols JABBIC Part 1 Sep 15, 2019

Show notes

Welcome to Part 1 of our JABBIC show for season 39, Island of the Idols. JABBIC stands for Judge A Book By Its Cover. It's a tradition here at SFP that kick it off with a preseason analysis of the castaways. We do not get a lot of information to work with, but that doesn't stop us from trying to guess who will be good at the game and who will flop. We have shared our early thoughts on each of the castaways including how well we think they will do in the overall game as well as some details we gathered from the interviews to kick off another season of watching Survivor together.

Now it is your turn. We want to hear what you think about the 20 new castaways and the Rob and Sandra twist that we look forward to entertaining and surprising us for the next 3 months. Let us know how well you think they will or won't do this season. We want to hear about who you had the strongest reaction to. Who's going to be voted out first? Who's your pick for final four and the sole Survivor?

Send in your predictions, keep it to 3 minutes. Get your responses to us by noon PST on Saturday, September 21st. Try not to think too long about it, just go with your first impression. Check out Paul's Visual Roster to help you collect your thoughts.

JSFL, our Survivor Fantasy League, registration will open soon! If you would like to join in the fun, click on this link: JSFL Registration and get your picks in before registration closes on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:30pm EST, 4:30pm PST.
