Winners at War On The Grill Part 1 Feb 01, 2020

Show notes

Welcome to Part 1 of our On The Grill preseason show for season 40, Winners At War. This is, by definition, a season full of returnees, so we have a rich history to refer to when theorizing how we think they do in the first all winners season. We have shared our early thoughts on each of the castaways including how well we think they will do in the overall game to kick off another season of watching Survivor together.

Now it is your turn. We want to hear what you think about the 20 winners and the new Fire Tokens twist that we look forward to entertaining and surprising us for the next 3 months. Let us know how well you think they will or won't do this season. We want to hear about who you had the strongest reaction to. Who's going to be voted out first? Who's your pick for final four and the sole Survivor?

Send in your predictions, keep it to 3 minutes. Get your responses to us by noon PST on Saturday, February 8th. Try not to think too long about it, just go with your first impression. Check out Paul's Visual Roster to help you collect your thoughts.

Island of the Idols Finale Recap Dec 19, 2019

Show notes

We entered the finale with a sentimental favorite, two who played the middle really well, and what initially looked like two goats. One of the goats kicked it into high gear and made it interesting. The Final Tribal was exciting and fun and even handed. We are happy this one is finally over though and excited for who is returning for season 40. What did you think of the finale? What about letting them finish out their time at Island of the Idols? What did you think of the challenges? Who's gameplay impressed you the most? Were you happy with the end result? How would you grade this Reunion show? What's your take on the season as a whole? Where does it rank against the other 38? What's your first impression of season 40, Winners at War?

Congratulations to our JSFL Winner, Karrie from Illinois, with 131 total points!

The JSFL side challenger's scores are: Randy won with 130 points, Justin came in 2nd with 124, Slappy got 3rd with 113, Stacy: 103, Bandon, Jeremiah, and Carl: 101, Jonathan: 83, ColdMike, James-n-Shannon: 80, Parker: 75, JKindred, Rebecca: 60, Jack: 50 , Carolyn: 45, Drew: 42, and Chris: 41. Randy will pick a song for Chris to write and perform as a parody based on this season's events.

Island of the Idols Week 12 LF Dec 15, 2019

Show notes

There has been a massive, dark cloud hanging over this season since the merge episode, and it came back to dump one last deluge of yuck on us before being dismissed from our screen. The mishandling of these events is once again prominent in the feedback this week. In spite of all that, we band together and rally with hope for some kind of satisfying, resolution and logical conclusion from the finale for a show that we have previously enjoyed so much.

We want to thank and acknowledge everyone who contributed to another great Listener Feedback show. This week we heard from: Pete, Julie, Shea, Justin, Christiana, Mike, Sandi, Nathan, Mary, Noelle-n-Immie, Slappy, Drew, David, Tina, Cameron, Katie, Jody, Josh, Jen and Paul.

Island of the Idols Week 12 Recap Dec 12, 2019

Show notes

Normally we look forward to Survivor firsts, but not in this case. It does offer some closure and hopefully in turn will remove the gloom that has been hovering over the show since the merge. This will certainly go down as one of the most bizarre, tainted seasons of our beloved show. Who are you cheering for as we head into the finale? What type of final advantage will Island of the Idols offer? What's your final five order?

Island of the Idols Week 11 LF Dec 08, 2019

Show notes

Reactions to the Family Visit were mixed this time. Some loved it as usual and others found this one to be rather uninteresting. Folks who were blindsided by this week's vote out felt extremely bamboozled by the "Live Tribal" shenanigans and even more so by the edit. With only two weeks to go, the end is in sight but we still have no idea how it will play out. We look forward to more excitement and insight on Wednesday.
