717: How to Trust Your Spirt and Live Courageously with Author Foster Care Advocate Regina Louse Feb 07, 2020
    Show notes

"Spirit, tell me what I need to know."

These are the words that Regina Louise has used throughout her life to guide her to know when it was time for her to make a move — including moments when she had to fight for her life in order to make that move.

By sixteen-years-old Regina, lived in — and failed to adjust to — thirty foster homes, group homes and psychiatric facilities and survived harsh abuse. Emancipated from the system at age 18, she had to find her own way, and was committed to one day graduate from college despite all of the school she missed and to one day share her story. At 48 years-old, Regina Louise walked across the stage Magna Cum Laude from California Institute of Integral Studies, and two weeks later, she was chosen as a Dean's Distinguished Fellow at University of California, Riverside as a graduate student. And today, she is author of the celebrated memoir Somebody's Someone, which has been adaptedLifetime Television Network and is scheduled to air in late 2019.

On this throwback episode of the Support is Sexy podcast -- which originally aired January 2, 2019, Regina shares why it's important to take your dreams to bed with you, to trust where spirit guides you and to pay attention to your intuition. It's a powerful episode about courage and resilience that needs to be heard again and again.

714: How to Change Your Life in 5 Seconds (Lessons I Learned from Mel Robbins's "5 Second Rule.") Jan 24, 2020
    Show notes

    5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

If, within just five seconds, you challenged yourself to do the thing you said you were going to do — to keep a commitment, send that email, make that call, feed the kids, go to the gym — think of how different (and productive!) life would be!

This is a lesson I discuss in this flashback episode of the Support is Sexy podcast that I recorded in 2017 when I read The 5 Second Rule, by Mel Robbins. I highly recommend it -- still! Such a simple concept that has the potential to be the catalyst for a major mindset shift for all of us who apply it. How do I know? Because I apply it often!

    Have a listen, and then get busy in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…

    Show notes

On this throwback episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, author and television executive Mitzi Miller shares how, as a high-powered editor-in-chief position at a magazine she long admired, she was unhappy, felt stuck and was making herself seriously ill. But she felt trapped by the "golden handcuffs" -- that is until she finally released herself and made the leap.

Today, Mitzi — who is also author of five books, including The Vow, which was made into a TV movie for Lifetime — is VP of Development for Rainforest Entertainment and was executive producer on the BET series, The Yard. She lives in LA, she loves the work she does, she is healthy, she is happy. And as she shared in this episode, she wants you to know that you can walk away and be okay.

711: The One Thing You Can Do that Will Make Everything Else Easier or Unnecessary Jan 17, 2020
    Show notes

Do you suffer from "shiny apple syndrome?" If you're an entrepreneur with any ambition, it's likely you have. Instead of drilling down on what's working, we get caught up focusing on what's next. But what's next may not be what's needed.

Ask yourself: What's the one thing that I should focus on to help me achieve extraordinary results?

This is what I learned while reading the book, The One Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results by Gary Keller with Jay Papasan (Bard Press 2013). In this flashback episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, I share how the book is helped me to clear away some of the "shiny apples" in my entrepreneurial journey and focus on what really matters, both to the business I want to build and the life I want to lead.

Listen to learn one of the most important questions you can ask yourself when searching for your One Thing.

Ten years later, the Pinehurst, North Carolina, native has run her own successful marketing and consulting business for more than ten years, is a global speaker, has worked with clients around the world — including Google, Yale University and the National Park Service, and has eight (yep, eight) streams of income.
