Hi my name is Brooklyn.

My friends were always amazed at how I was able to take a plain cake and turn it into a work of art. However, while I enjoyed decorating the cakes, I totally detested making them. They were such a hassle and they never came out right.

A few years ago I decided to use a regular box cake and add my extra ingredients and it was a hit. It wasn't long before my business was successful. Now before you judge me let me ask you, would you prefer a well decorated and edible cake or would you prefer a well baked cake that wasn’t decorated well? That’s what I thought.

My boyfriend James came out of the kitchen holding a hot steaming pie.

“Here babe.” He said. “I made this especially for you!”

I cringed inside. Not another pie to get through. You see, my boyfriend James had this weird obsession with making pies. And I had to pretend they were good when actually they tasted disgusting.

“Oh great.” I said with faked enthusiasm.

I bit into the pie, but this one tasted even worse than usual. I’d never tasted anything so bad in all my life. I didn’t know how I was going to finish it. I was on my second bite of the pie when the pain in my stomach started. I was bent over double, the pain was unbearable, I looked at James and cried

“Help me James!”

But James just stood there watching as I collapsed on the floor.

I Had To Choose Between Saving My Dad Or Mom May 18, 2022

I could hear the raised voices as I walked down my street, surely that couldn’t be coming from my house? My Mum and Dad never argued. But as I got closer I realised that it was my Mum and Dad. I wondered what could have happened to make them fight like that.

I opened the front door and the shouting hit me like a tonne of bricks.

“You betrayed me!”

“No! It was you who betrayed me!”

“I hate you! I never want to see you again.”

That was my Mum, why would she say something like that to Dad? I wondered what he could have done.

“Don’t worry! I’m out of here!” shouted Dad. “Do you really think I want to spend another minute of my time with someone like you?”

This couldn’t be happening!

“Hi Babe.” He said.

“Oh, yeah, hi.” I replied. “Listen, I don’t think you should call me babe anymore.”

“Why not?”

“Because we’re over!”

“What do you mean?”

“You know, you’re dumped!” I went on. “You’ve served your purpose but I’m bored with you now!”

Adam walked away from our table, he looked heartbroken. I rolled my eyes at my friends.

“What a loser!” I said, laughing.

They all burst out laughing too.

I sat watching the clock on the wall, the seconds ticking away, turning into minutes. Finally I admitted to myself, she wasn’t going to come. I don’t know why I kept on putting myself through it, every time I organised something with my Mom, she let me down. We were supposed to be having lunch together, it had been organised for a week!

It wasn’t as if she even came up with good excuses, often she would just say she forgot! It hurt me that she didn’t make an effort to spend time with me.

“I’ll just give her five more minutes.” I thought to myself.

My phone buzzed, it was a message from Mom

“Jasmine, somethings come up, can’t make lunch today.”

That was it, no sorry! No ‘Love Mom’!

In fact I don’t think my Mom had ever said that she loved me.

I went to a billionaire high school, you would think it would have been the best time of my life, but it was actually the craziest time of my life. You’ll never believe what happened. I was an ordinary kid living in an ordinary house, I never dreamt that I would have a chance to go to such an expensive school, but here is how I did it.

It all started when my teacher told me about this amazing billionaire high school, it cost millions of dollars a year in fees, only the kids from the richest families were able to afford to go there. But this year the school was offering a scholarship to anyone who wanted to go there. All the costs would be covered by the scholarship.

“You should try to apply for the scholarship Carla.” Said Mrs Green, my teacher.

It all started when I was planning my birthday party, I had been looking forward to my party for so long. Usually Mum just organised something for me, but this year she said I was old enough to do all the planning myself. I was sitting in my room writing my invitation list when I suddenly felt someone behind me. I turned round and there was my brother Adam looking over my shoulder. I had just written down the name Jake on the list.

“Ooh are you inviting a boy?” He teased. “Is Jake your crush?”

I blushed and yelled “Get out of my room!”

“He is your crush, he is.” He shouted. “I can see you’re going red!”

He ran out of my room laughing. I scowled. Why did my brother have to be so annoying?

It was like this every time I walked into the school cafeteria. It wasn’t easy being so popular. Everyone wanted me to sit with them, but I couldn’t be in two places at the same time. I tried to be fair to everyone but of course someone was always disappointed if I didn’t choose them.

had always made friends easily, I suppose it was because I was very confident and people always told me I was really fun to be around. Everyone was always laughing whenever I was around. I loved playing pranks, nothing serious, just harmless fun. My friends were always wondering what I would get up to next.

I was also very pretty, I know it’s not really the kind of thing you should say about yourself, but it’s true! All the boys in school thought I was cute and wanted to date me. It sounds like the perfect life but it was actually quite difficult trying to keep everyone happy.

I was sitting at my battered old computer doing homework when I felt my mom put her hands over my eyes and giggle from behind me. I could tell she was smiling when she told me to get up and to not sneak a peek. I started going through a mental calendar when I realised; I forgot about my own birthday.

My mom led me to the dining table, which she decorated with all sorts of birthday stuff, like cheesy balloons and napkins of all colors with the number 18 all over them. “Blow out the candles, Miles” Smiled my mom. I blew out the 18 little candles and made my wish. I know it’s stupid, but it’s the one little superstition I allow myself. I wished to be so successful I could buy my mom and each of my siblings their own house, and take care of them like my good-for-nothing dad never did.

You’re probably thinking this is the typical story of a poor kid with a heart of gold, the kind of guy who is loved by everyone, but is really unlucky. Well, that’s not me.

Hi, my name is Talia. You would think that all the mean girls would have stayed in high school, but no some of them follow you to college as well. I was looking forward to the upcoming summer break where I could get away from Randy. I already knew what I wanted to do to pass my time.

While scrolling through my social media, I came across this new reality tv series, Island Troopers, that was set to be taped somewhere in the South Pacific Islands. Wouldn’t it be lovely to be stuck on an island with Renaldo Castagne? Who is Renaldo you ask? Only the most handsome, adventurous, troop leader of the Cub Scouts my brother Davian ever had.
