This week's guest is Natalie Lyla Ginsberg, MSW. Natalie is the Global Impact Officer at the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) https://maps.org/ where Natalie works with her inspiration around the potential role of psychedelics' in healing intergenerational trauma and conflict, and for inspiring innovative community-drive solutions.
Natalie founded the Policy & Advocacy department at MAPS, and served as its director for 5 years. She also initiated and helped developed MAPS' Health Equity Program.
MAPS Mission statement from their website is: Founded in 1986, the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational organization that develops medical, legal, and cultural contexts for people to benefit from the careful uses of psychedelics and marijuana.
Many of you have probably heard of MAPS through its founder Rick Doblin. Rick Doblin, Ph.D., is the founder and executive director of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS). He received his doctorate in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he wrote his dissertation on the regulation of the medical uses of psychedelics and marijuana and his Master’s thesis on a survey of oncologists about smoked marijuana vs. the oral THC pill in nausea control for cancer patients. His undergraduate thesis at New College of Florida was a 25-year follow-up to the classic Good Friday Experiment, which evaluated the potential of psychedelic drugs to catalyze religious experiences. He also conducted a thirty-four year follow-up study to Timothy Leary’s Concord Prison Experiment. Rick studied with Dr. Stanislav Grof and was among the first to be certified as a Holotropic Breathwork practitioner. His professional goal is to help develop legal contexts for the beneficial uses of psychedelics and marijuana, primarily as prescription medicines but also for personal growth for otherwise healthy people, and eventually to become a legally licensed psychedelic therapist. He founded MAPS in 1986.
Natalie and I dive into so many things around psychedelic research, policy, and legality. From MDMA, psilocybin , LSD, DMT, Ayahuasca, Mescaline, Ketamine, and Eboga, we discuss what the current research is showing in terms of the various plant medicines and some of the developing legislation and licensure around being able to use these plant medicines in a legal and clinical/therapeutic setting within the United States.
We also touch on cultural appropriation of shamanism in the USA and the pros and cons of some spiritual plant medicine retreats.

Debra is a professional therapist with her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and a professional astrologer who has accumulated over 40 years of professional experience in her private practice. Debra specializes in helping thousands of individuals achieve emotional health and wisdom based on their unique personality and four elements: water, air, earth, and fire. Here work includes families, individuals, couples and educating therapists and coaches.
While there is no “one size fits all” approach, Debra has developed a unique psychological-spiritual model, combining her expertise in Esoteric (soul-centered) Astrology with her extensive education in Psychotherapy to help those going through major life changes, pain, and insecurity. She custom designs her therapeutic approach to each individual, using astrology and psychology as a magical healing combination in order to achieve emotional health & wisdom.

Debra doesn't often read charts personally anymore as she has over 20 astrologers that work under her and have been coached and taught through her program. This is why it is an absolute honor to have her personally read my astrological birth chart.
Although our focus is primarily on my birth chart (you'll get to know me better...trust me). The methods Debra uses are the same all of her practitioners use. Addie Bracy holds a Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology and has been an elite runner for a long time. She has won three USATF National Championships and has been selected to compete internationally on 10 USA teams. In 2017, she was a scoring member of Team USA's Gold Medal team at the World Championships for Mountain Running.
As a coach over the last 10 years, Addie has worked with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and post collegiate levels. She is a founding member of https://www.strivementalperformance.com/ and https://www.instagram.com/_out_run/ which is a community created to empower and connect LGBTQ+ individuals within the running community.
Addie and I discuss many things. We focus around defining oneself through sport and the dangerous around conflating athletic performance with personal identity. On the addictions sports can bring on, including struggling with body image and eating disorders. We touch on her journey and how redefining "why" she was running and racing changed her relationship with the sport she loves and ultimately her view on what "success" is in athletics.
Addie is a great human and I am grateful she spent an hour with me discussing so much.
    I hope you all enjoy!
