In 1974, in the woods near Jacksonville, Florida, the Betz family stumbled upon a mysterious metal sphere that seemed to move on its own and defy explanation. What began as a strange curiosity quickly spiraled into a media sensation, drawing the attention of scientists, UFO researchers, and even the U.S. Navy and Marines. In this audio documentary, we revisit the reports, investigations, and unsettling events that followed the discovery of the Betz Sphere, before the object quietly disappeared from public view for nearly fifty years.

In 1970, two Finnish skiers paused in a quiet winter glade near Imjärvi when a buzzing sound, a descending fog-wrapped light, and a ten-foot disc-shaped craft changed their lives forever. What followed was one of the strangest UFO encounters ever recorded: a glowing three-foot imp-like being emerging from a fiery circle of light, a mist smelling of sulfur, physical paralysis, burns, illness, and years of surreal follow-up contact experiences. Zelia Edgar breaks down the full case in vivid detail, exploring the creature’s folkloric features, the symbolic role of mists, lights, crossroads, and mushrooms in anomalous lore, and how the Imjärvi incident blurs the line between UFOs and ancient myth.

In this episode, we dive into one of the most famous UFO cases ever recorded: the Rendlesham Forest incident. Known as “Britain’s Roswell,” the event unfolded over three nights in December 1980 between the twin U.S.–U.K. bases at RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge. With Cold War tensions high and American nuclear weapons secretly stored on-site, security personnel witnessed strange lights on radar and in the forest, followed by reports of a landed craft. Backed by official documents, on-the-ground audio recordings, and decades of ongoing testimony, we break down the encounters that cemented Rendlesham as a cornerstone of UFO history.

In 1978, a young woman in Auckland, New Zealand, stopped her motorcycle to watch strange lights overhead, only to see two robed beings staring back from inside a wedge-shaped craft.
In this episode of Just Another Tin Foil Hat, Zelia Edgar explores the eerie “Auckland Anomaly,” connecting it to patterns of light phenomena, phantom monks, and John Keel’s theories of perception and reality.

The 1970s became a defining era for alien abduction reports, and this episode explores four of its most unforgettable cases drawn from Alien Abduction Files: The 1970s. We look at Steve Kilburn’s recovered memories from a terrifying night on a Maryland road, the famous Pascagoula encounter where Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker were taken aboard a glowing craft, the bizarre Meccano Mummy case involving missing time and a mechanical-looking entity, and Italy’s multi-year saga of Pier Zanfretta and his encounters with towering green beings. Each case, marked by hypnosis sessions, physical effects, and lasting psychological impact, shows how the 1970s transformed alien encounters into deeply personal and enduring mysteries that continue to shape the abduction narrative even today.

In 1966, six Denver high school students went camping at Daniels Park — and stumbled into one of the strangest cases of UFO and paranormal crossover ever recorded. Known as The Campfire Creep, the group reported buzzing noises, footsteps on the roof, a tall man in a black coat who vanished before their eyes, and glowing egg-shaped craft that disabled their car as they fled.
In this episode of Just Another Tin Foil Hat, Zelia Edgar dives deep into this bizarre night — exploring how it blurs the lines between UFO encounters, hauntings, and classic poltergeist phenomena. Was it a visitation, a shared hallucination, or something that slips between dimensions?

In this in-depth conversation, Ryan sits down with historian, author, and host of The Saucer Life, Aaron Gulyas. They break down the fascinating exploration of the Contactee Movement, those early UFO claimants who said they met benevolent “Space Brothers” from Venus, Mars, and beyond. From George Adamski’s iconic photographs and cosmic philosophy, to George Van Tassel’s channelings of Ashtar and the rise of the Integratron, to the absolutely wild saga of Reinhold Schmidt, a part-time grain buyer, part-time flying saucer felon. Aaron breaks down the origins, motives, influence, and patterns behind these enduring stories.
They also discuss how contactee lore still echoes through modern UFO discourse, why these narratives keep resurfacing, and whether any of these individuals might have experienced something genuinely anomalous.
