    Jamila M. Dawson, LMFT is the co-author of the innovative book: With Pleasure: Managing Trauma Triggers for More Vibrant Sex and Relationships. A licensed therapist with an expertise in sexuality, trauma, and relationships, Jamila has been a sex educator since 2005 and has practiced psychotherapy since 2015. She is the founder and owner of the psychotherapy practice Fire & Flow Therapy. She has collaborated with Buzzfeed, MEL, Playboy, Harper’s BAZAAR and other media outlets and has appeared on numerous podcasts, including Girlboner and Sex with Dr. Jess. Jamila uses her Instagram & Facebook accounts to share practices, tools, and reflections on sexuality, relationships, and mental health. She divides her time between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

    August McLaughlin is a nationally recognized journalist and host and producer of the podcast, Girl Boner Radio, a true story-driven podcast where she explores sexual empowerment, relationships and pleasure. Her articles have been featured by Cosmopolitan, the Washington Post, Salon and more. Her 2018 release, Girl Boner, was featured in the New York Times and called “equally fun, risqué, and informative” by Publishers Weekly. She has presented at colleges, recovery centers, and the CDC headquarters, attended the 2016 United State of Women summit as a nominated changemaker and gave a TEDx talk on her experience overcoming an eating disorder she was diagnosed with while working abroad in the fashion industry.

    Welcome to episode 258 of the Sexology Podcast! Today I am delighted to welcome Robyn Goldberg to the podcast. In this episode, we discuss the relationship between food and sexuality, looking at food addiction and the issues it can cause and why Robyn decided to write her new book, The Eating Disorder Trap.

    Robyn Goldberg is a registered dietitian nutritionist, certified eating disorder registered dietitian supervisor, certified intuitive eating counselor and a Health at Every Size® (HAES) clinician. Robyn has spent years learning from some of the best in the industry and continues to seek professional mentoring, attends innovative conferences and stays abreast with the most current literature.

    Robyn began her career at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles as the in-patient dietitian in the Department of Cardiology. For the last 23 years, Robyn Goldberg has had a private practice in Beverly Hills, CA, where she specializes in medical conditions, eating disorders, disordered eating, dual diagnosis, pre-pregnancy nutrition and women seeking fertility treatment.

    Robyn consistently educates professionals, students, and RDNs about how to best incorporate intuitive eating and Health at Every Size® approaches into their work and lives. She teaches nutrition classes on a wide array of topics for the Motion Picture Industry’s Wellness Program.

    Actively involved in the nutrition and body positive community, Robyn is also a member of organizations including: Association of Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH), Academy of Eating Disorders (AED), International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) and the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians (IFEDD). She also serves as a Nutrition Consultant for the Celiac Disease Foundation. Robyn also leads several body image and eating disorder groups in sober living settings in the Los Angeles Area.

    Robyn is a nationally renowned contributing author registered dietitian nutritionist. She has been quoted as an expert in various publications including The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Diabetes Forecast, Shape Magazine, Fitness, Oxygen, Life & Style, Natural Solutions, Beverly Hills Weekly and Today’s Dietitian. In addition, Robyn has also served as an eating disorder specialist on the nationally televised show “The Insider” and an expert on The Associated Press (AP).

Lucie also holds a PhD in French from Northwestern University (2008), where she specialized in eighteenth-century literature, histories of sexualities, and erotic literature.

    Her background in literature and history attunes her to the many ways that image, metaphor, and cultural scripts shape and inform the narratives we carry with us as we move through the world as well as how these narratives inscribe themselves on our bodies. She is the author of Trans Sex: Clinical Approaches to Trans Sexualities and Erotic Embodiments (Routledge, May 2021).

    Dr. Mimi Hoang (she/her) is an internationally-recognized psychologist, educator, author, and grassroots activist specializing in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQ+) and Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities. Since the 1990s, she has co-founded three organizations in Los Angeles for bisexual, pansexual, fluid, and other nonmonosexual (AKA "bi+") individuals, authored multiple publications, and earned a seat at the landmark 2013 White House Bisexual Community Roundtable.

    Dr. Mimi's steadfast leadership has earned her multiple awards, a feature in Jan Dee Gordon's LGBTQ of Steel photography book, and being named “One of the Most Significant Women in the Bisexual Movement.” She currently works as a Staff Psychologist at Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Clinical Supervisor of the LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Therapy Center at Airport Marina Counseling Services, and is the creator of the "Bi on Life" self-empowerment series and Bi+ Women's Space, a virtual support group for bi+ women in Los Angeles.

    Zachary Zane is a Brooklyn-based columnist, speaker, activist, and sex expert whose work focuses on sexuality, lifestyle, and culture.

    He has a weekly sex advice column at Men’s Health titled “Sexplain It,” where he answers a diverse range of questions pertaining to masculinity, ethical non-monogamy, sexual insecurities, and the LGBTQ community. He answers questions with actionable advice that isn't just "communicate with your partner," because let’s be real, we all know that already.

    He also has a monthly column at Queer Majority called “Zach and the City,” which explores romance and sexuality through Zane’s fabulous life. Set against the backdrop of New York City, Zane uses his personal experiences as a young and adventurous queer socialite to unpack the current state of cosmopolitan sex, love, and dating.

    He currently writes for The Washington Post, Rolling Stone, and Prevention. He was formerly a digital associate editor at OUT Magazine and a contributing editor at Pride.com, Plus Magazine, and The Advocate Magazine. He's been featured in numerous other publications as well, including Playboy, NBC, SELF, Allure, Dazed, AskMen, Slate, Into, Them, Cosmopolitan, Hornet, NewNowNext, LGBTQ Nation, MerryJane, and Bustle.

    As a leading bisexual activist, Zane has spoken across the country at universities and panels alike, discussing issues pertaining to the bisexual community, sex-positivity, and ethical non-monogamy. He previously had a biweekly column at Bisexual.org that ran for 18 months.

    He attended the "Bisexual White House Briefing" at the White House (under Obama), and has been featured as an expert on a number of podcasts including Dan Savage's "Savage Lovecast."
