    UNDER COVERS -- "AMANDA" Apr 02, 2020
    Show notes

This Under Covers social experiment has been really mind-blowing for me and the answers, however small the sampling is, tell a very interesting story.

First of all, I started doing these interviews because I wanted you to know that YOU ARE NORMAL. This idea that we're strange or, dirty or unworthy of sexual pleasure all stems back to us being stigmatized during sex education. I spoke to one woman who believed that she never deserved oral sex simply because she didn't look like the models she saw in magazines.

What in the actual hell are we telling ourselves? And why are we restricting or demonizing our desires?

That's why I started doing these interviews, so you might hear something from another person and think, OH MY GAWD, I thought I was the only person dealing with that!!!

    WELL, YOU'RE NOT.

The sex education that most kids receive whether from school or home is frequently fear or shame-based, rarely mandated to be fact-based, and is often filled with bizarre threats of unintended pregnancies and terrifying STIs that will kill you!!!

No wonder there's so much dysfunction out there.

Bottom line, most of the women I spoke to and many, many millions more were only taught about shame or fear when it comes to sex as a way of trying to control us and dissuade us from thinking about or desiring sex. The result of this misinformation, of course, has shown up in millions of bedrooms for what could be a lifetime of sexual dysfunction.

If we're going to raise kids who have healthy sex lives and real agency and self-confidence, we MUST change our approach to sex education and make it fact-based and not shame or fear-based. If you told your child over and over again DON'T EAT COOKIES, DON'T EAT COOKIES, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT EVER EAT COOKIES BECAUSE THEY WILL KILL YOU, your kid will probably hoard a mountain of Oreos and Chips Ahoys under their bed and have a serious cookie problem. I'm not a psychologist and I realize I'm oversimplifying things but only to a degree. I am a parent and I can tell you for certain that any time you severely restrict something from a kid, all it does is make them go out of their minds and want it more and more. Restriction can lead to pathological hoarding. Case in point: Toilet paper.

    Speaking of…

I mentioned in this episode I had zero toilet paper problems during these crazy covid-19 times because last year I received a LUXE BIDET. That's right! You can add this genius item right beneath your existing toilet seat and you will NEVER NEED TOILET PAPER AGAIN! Plus you're super clean and it's quite earth friendly. Buy one and you will never go back to toilet paper. (Also it's great to purchase for older parents who might start having mobility issues). As of this posting, this particular model has nearly 5-stars and close to 10,000 reviews. It's only $41.99, requires no external power source or batteries, and is pretty easy to install. My dreamy husband did it himself. Because we have a fancy Japanese skirted toilet, we needed a special valve and the folks at Luxe sent it to me free of charge. They're a great company and they offer amazing customer service. Buy this bidet and your life (and nether regions) can change for the better!

    Trust me, I hate everything.

Okay, now back to our show…

On this Under Covers episode I speak to Amanda (not her real name).

All you need to know in advance is that Amanda is 33, single and identifies as sexually fluid.

And that's where all similarities end…or begin.

Also, I'm going to post an in-depth look at the most surprising data from the first ten Under Covers interviews on Medium. You can always check out my work there at https://medium.com/@thewendymiller

If you have any questions, have a fun Screw Confession to share or would like to be interviewed Under Covers, please email me. I love hearing from you.

Take care and please stay healthy and stay indoors!

SEX THERAPY -- WITH DR. SHANNON CHAVEZ Mar 19, 2020
    Show notes

You get your teeth cleaned. You get your oil changed. You replace the batteries in your smoke detectors.

It's a fact that certain things in life require regular maintenance.

Your sex life is one of those things.

In this episode, I speak with licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Shannon Chavez.

A nationally recognized expert, public speaker and prolific writer, Dr. Chavez specializes in "all things sexuality" working with individuals and couples (of all genders and orientations).

Because your sex life requires regular maintenance, it's important to check in with an expert regularly, instead of waiting until you're in crisis mode.

In this episode, we talk about how challenging it can be to suggest to a partner that you see a sex therapist.

Also, in order to enjoy a healthy sex life, Dr. Chavez recommends:

    • What items should be removed from your bedroom immediately.
    • How to create more intimacy with your partner outside of the bedroom.
    • How to establish your rules as a couple.

    Plus, she shares:

FIVE SIGNS YOU AND YOUR PARTNER SHOULD SEE A SEX THERAPIST

    1. Communication Breakdowns
    2. Constant Shaming or Shutting Down Requests
    3. Unsure Where To Start In Order To Fix Their Relationships
    4. Common Avoidance Patterns
    5. Unable To Settle Issues Without Professional Guidance

Later, Dr. Chavez and I bond over our fondness for Liberator brand sex furniture (made in USA!)

The Liberator Sex Chaise (She owns one)

The Liberator Ramp (I own one)

The Liberator Wedge (I own one)

We also talk about our dream TV show that combines sex and interior design. This concept is registered and any attempt to produce it without my permission will be met with several very angry lawyers.

FINDING MR. RIGHT -- WITH LOU PAGET Mar 12, 2020
    Show notes

I know a lot of amazing single women. Highly accomplished. Attractive. Stable. Confident. Driven. Smart women.

They have careers. They have homes. They have their shit together.

Mathematically, you'd think there are at least a similar amount of men out there who share those attributes.

    Apparently…not so much.

So where are all of these eligible men?

In this episode I interview acclaimed author, sexuality researcher and educator Lou Paget. The author of the game-changing sex guide for women How to be a Great Lover, Lou has been featured on Real Sex on HBO, and has appeared in Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Redbook and my living room.

In this episode, I ask Lou why so many women are having a hard time finding eligible bachelors and she has some very surprising answers.

    • What you're really buying when you marry for money.
    • The fastest way to turn off a guy.
    • Why a dog is woman's best friend.

If you're a straight single woman who's been having no luck finding an eligible man, this episode may have exactly what you need…ya know, other than the actual guy.

    UNDER COVERS -- "CARMEN" Mar 05, 2020
    Show notes

    What a GIGANTIC week!

    Season two is happening, yo!

We're about to reach 30,000 downloads!!!

My writing on Medium has garnered over 100,000 views.

I'm enjoying a very fun, remote-controlled vibrator (affiliate link) that you and your boo need right now.

Plus, I decided that enough is enough and I'm going to stop coloring my damn hair. It's a gradual process so as to avoid a skunk line, (not judging anyone else's choice, it's just not my thing). This shit is happening. I'm gray for pay!

Plus, the owner of my favorite Mexican restaurant gave me a free order of guacamole today!!! #DevotedLifetimeCustomer

And if that's not enough, you're about to enjoy an all-new Under Covers episode!!!!

    Life is sublime.

    Now, on to today's episode.

    CARMEN

    (That's not her real name).

Just like the previous Under Covers conversations, there's a lot I could share with you about Carmen in advance, but I didn't know anything, so why should you? You may think my clumsy interview style in these segments is completely calculated by me to appear all folksy when in fact I'm masking that I'm a vastly prepared professional.

    Well you are wrong sir!

That's no act. I don't know any of these answers in advance. I prefer it that way. I didn't know Carmen's age, her socioeconomic status, her religious background, what she knew about sex, her sexual identity, nothing. And that was 100% deliberate because these are bits of information that we all use to subtly judge and categorize each other in advance. I wanted all of that off the table because going into an Under Covers interview blind is a great way for me to experience these conversations exactly as you will.

This is all about hearing another woman's story with no bias whatsoever, and realizing that there may be aspects of a vastly different life that somehow resonates with your own. Suddenly, you're not so alone anymore. Things may make a little more sense. Perhaps by hearing these stories, you can move forward with the knowledge that we're all in this shitshow together and the best way for all of us to start healing is to start sharing.

    With no judgment.

So I will keep this brief.

All you need to know in advance is that Carmen is 36, single and heterosexual.

That's where all similarities end…or begin.

Thank you for finding this show, SUBSCRIBING and sharing it with your friendies. I started this podcast with only two goals: To help women and laugh all day.

I feel truly grateful I get to do it every week. I sincerely hope it's working for you.

    XOXOX,

    THREESOME SCHOOL Feb 27, 2020
    Show notes

About once a week, someone asks me how to have a threesome. We're talking friends of mine, people I know through work, women I've met at yoga. Okay, I don't go to yoga once a week, I probably go once a month but it's so horrible it feels like once a week.

Regardless, I am asked this question over and over again.

This is a fact: Having a threesome is the number one sexual fantasy of heterosexual couples. I have a shit ton of anecdotal evidence to know this is true. I was once hosting a birthday party and a couple I've known for over 20 years came up to me and asked me how they could have their first threesome. At MY birthday party!

But I don't blame them. Adding a special guest star to your show can be a great way to add some serious fun and, if you do it ethically and with the right planning and communication, a great addition to your horizontal repertoire.

Of course, this is super easy for me to say. I hang out with professional sex-havers and pleasure chasers all the time. I'm in what you'd call a "target rich environment." Unfortunately, the rest of you are out there scanning the aisles of Trader Joe's for that elusive unicorn. Trust me, I've looked and she ain't there. Or, if she is, she's probably just there to buy some non-dairy oat milk, not to hook up with you and your boo in that fucked up parking lot.

So where do you find your elusive unicorn? How do you approach them and attract them? When do you invite them over? What's the perfect fruit to serve for a threesome?

All but one of those are very important questions and I'm about to answer all of them for you. Okay, not me personally, but two very special guests who've been on my show previously. A lot of you new listeners who are sending me emails, aren't scrubbing through the entire episode catalog so you don't know what's in there. No worries, it's all condensed for you right here.

Threesome School is now in session!

To hear the full interviews with my threesome experts and for tips on how you can have a fantasy threesome with anyone in the world, check out these episodes.

BETTER SEX WITH CANNABIS FEATURING ASHLEY MANTA Feb 20, 2020
    Show notes

Whether it's the stress of your day, hormones out of whack, or maybe your husband refuses to close the kitchen cabinets — whatever it is, it's probably increasing your stress which interferes with your sex drive and your ability to experience the most pleasure possible.

That's where cannabis comes in! And it turns out, menopausal women in the know are flocking to it.

In a recent story on Quartz-

According to sales data and a survey of 4,000 cannabis consumers by the San Francisco-based delivery platform Eaze, the number of female cannabis consumers nearly doubled in 2018, and with their growth outpacing men, women are on track to be half of the cannabis market by 2022. Female baby boomers on the platform grew by nearly a quarter between 2017 and 2018.

Once I sashayed into the magic of menopause, things got interesting. The occasional hot flash wasn't the least bit bothersome to me because I'm freezing most of the time anyway. Plus those went away after just a few weeks. The biggest problem was bedtime. My ability to sleep through the night became nonexistent thanks to night sweats. They got so bad that I dreaded even going to sleep because I knew how miserable I was going to be throughout the night. All of this sleep deprivation led to an increase in anxiety, brain fog and exhaustion for me.

I didn't know it yet, but it turns out there was an all-natural, non-pharmaceutical solution.

Many women have discovered the healing power of microdosing of cannabis in order to sleep through the night. But, not just sleep. In the burgeoning adult-use cannabis wellness sector, women of a certain age have also been turning to the plant seeking relief from pain, anxiety, prior sexual trauma and stress. Plus, cannabis is a natural aphrodisiac for many women and it helps us get more connected to our bodies in order to get out of our heads and experience enormous sexual pleasure. Win/win/win!

But how do you know which products to use? Where do you buy them? How do I consume them?

    That's where today's guest comes in…

Ashley Manta is America's High Priestess of Pleasure. An award-winning sex educator and coach, Ashley has become a sought-after authority on mindfully combining sex and cannabis as part of her CannaSexual® brand. She appeared on the cover of Sexual Health Magazine in January 2019, and recently completed her certification as a Bodysex® Facilitator after studying with legendary pleasure pioneer Betty Dodson. At the January 2020 XBiz Awards, Ashley was named Sexpert of the Year.

In this podcast episode, Ashley reveals exactly why cannabis has such a complicated past and who or what was behind the very targeted demonization of this miracle plant. She'll explain how cannabis can enhance your sex life in many ways and exactly what you should believe from the budtender at the pot dispensary who's recommending specific strains of weed for better sex (Hint: Nothing).

It's a very fun conversation and you'll learn a lot more about cannabis than you ever expected. In a good way.

THE SECRET SEX LIVES OF WOMEN OVER 40 Feb 13, 2020
    Show notes

If you judged an entire group of people based on the t-shirts that are marketed to them at Target, then you'd think all women are obsessed with wine, dogs, and the TV show Friends. Whether or not we all are (we're not), the fact is, there's a lot about women that's completely manufactured in order just to sell us t-shirts. Meanwhile, information about our true desires is hidden away in shame.

Well, as your favorite truth teller I'm here to say that it turns out women over 40 are actual true genuine real sexual beings just like other human people types. What!?!? Yes, it's hella true. We're also not all obsessed with wine, dogs or whoever the fuck is your lobster. It's more likely that we're obsessed with Idris Elba. At least the 100 members of the 40 Thrive community who responded to our semi-scientific sex survey claim to be hotter for Mr. Elba than anyone else. But can you blame them?

    No, you cannot.

Searching for truth over marketing, we asked 100 women over 40 a series of questions about their sex lives including sexual fantasies, how often they're having sex, how happy they are in bed and how likely they are to hook up with another lady person. The answers may surprise you.

My co-host for this episode is my very good friend and podcast doula, Jackie MacDougall who reached out to the 40 Thrive Community, which she runs.

She also did all of the math.

During our conversation, I refer back to a previous episode I did on cheating, you can listen to it here.

Even if you're also a woman over 40, whatever you think you know about the sex lives and desires of your fellow women over 40 is probably incorrect. Except the Idris Elba part because, duh!

CELEBRITY SCREW CONFESSION Feb 06, 2020
    Show notes

Throughout the first season of this podcast, I've featured all sorts of hilarious Screw Confessions. Perhaps you recall…

    • The woman who had sex in a car that turned out to be parked in front of a police station.
    • The woman who, in the throes of passion tore a headboard off of the wall and peed on her partner.
    • One woman's plan to spend an afternoon masturbating that was rudely interrupted by the New York City Fire Department.

This episode features a very special Celebrity Screw Confession courtesy of the hilarious Kate Quigley. Out of respect for the world-famous supermodel in this story, we won't be revealing his name. Kate has told this story on stage several times which is why we're okay with revealing her as the storyteller.

And, if you have a Screw Confession you'd like to share with us ANONYMOUSLY please email me. I'd love to feature your hilarious sex fail in an upcoming episode.

Also, I spend a lot of time in this episode extolling the virtues of a vaginal moisturizer product called Revaree. In Episode 14 I interviewed OB/GYN to the stars and famed vagina whisperer, Dr. Sherry Ross. She absolutely RAVED about Revaree for women of a certain age. I recently started using it and, she's right, it's a game changer.

Just know that the opinions expressed on this show are my own. I am not a paid spokesperson for this product and Revaree does not sponsor this show.

    Yet.

KATE QUIGLEY PLAYS SEX ED THE GAME SHOW Jan 30, 2020
    Show notes

Kate Quigley is fearless, brash, and one of the fastest rising comedians working today. Of course she's also hella hot, but that's not why I love her.

In addition to hosting a show for me on Playboy TV, which you will hear ALL ABOUT in this episode, she's been seen on The Office, The Josh Wolf Show, The Megan Mullally Show, Talkshow With Spike Feresten and was the host of The 2016 AVN Awards which aired on Showtime.

Kate headlines as a stand-up comic all over the country. She recently returned from an Armed Forces Tour performing for troops in Japan, Singapore, Guam, and Diego Garcia. She can be seen regularly at the Improv, Icehouse and the Hollywood Laugh Factory and has been featured as a Sports Illustrated, "Lovely Lady of the Day" & The Chive's "Girl You Should Know."

Kate is also the host of the wildly popular podcast, Date Fails, which receives over 30,000 downloads a week on the All Things Comedy network.

She is flat out killing it. Follow her here.

On this episode, we talk about how I totally ruined her life by plucking her from obscurity and putting her on Playboy TV. How she went from being a very sheltered and innocent young housewife to a wild divorcée making up for lost time by exploring balloon dungeons, latex fetish clubs, training as a dominatrix, getting tied up, electrocuted, teased with knives, hosting a swinger party, attacked by a vampire, set on fire, wrestled by an Amazon and having her feet worshipped by randos in Las Vegas, all on camera.

Since I love game shows, Kate and I play America's slowest growing new game show sensation, Sex Ed The Game Show and you should definitely play along, too. Although, your score will totally suck because these questions are really stupid and hard. Luckily Kate's unique training with Playboy TV and her time spent working alongside porn stars gives her an edge. Wait, does that mean she was edged by porn stars?

No, that is definitely not what that means.

Kate and I have a lot of fun on this episode and despite the fact that I deliberately mispronounce classic TV actor/director Peter Bonerz' name for comedy sake, it's a very fun and fact-filled diversion.
