BI/BI LOVE WITH VANESSA GRITTON Sep 03, 2020
    Show notes

Are you in an "alternative" relationship?

No, you are not, because there's no such thing as an "alternative" relationship.

Who's to say what is alternative and what is mainstream? I'm guessing someone who's in a so-called mainstream relationship. But to other folks, your mainstream relationship may actually look like an alternative relationship. Jesus, I'm writing like an Escher drawing.

Let's look at it this way. If you are a consenting adult and you are in a super happy relationship with another consenting adult or adults, then you are in the perfect relationship for you. And that's all that matters. I hate arugula. Does that mean everyone else has to hate arugula or they're deviants? Nope. You eat whatever greens you want, it's none of my damn business if you want to eat filthy, disgusting and horrible arugula.

And please don't email me about my hatred of arugula. I didn't say anything or judge you when you said you hated tasty, delicious cilantro.

Speaking of tasty and delicious, on this show, I talk with comedian, writer, producer and host Vanessa Gritton about her current relationship. She's openly bisexual and so his her male partner, and you know what, the two of them have never been happier.

Now a lot of people have a lot to say about bisexuality. "That's not real!" "Choose a team!" "You're really gay and can't admit it!" "Arugula is delicious, you are so wrong!"

Yup…it doesn't matter what anyone has to say about your relationship.

    Like, at all.

    Ever.

So instead of wondering what's normal and what's alternative and what's weird and what's acceptable, check out this conversation with Vanessa about her life and her decisions and why she's hella happy. That's all anyone really wants.

    Any maybe some donuts.

    You can follow Vanessa @nesgritton

Vanessa also hosts numerous comedy and pop culture shows for El Rey Network and clearly hangs out in Burbank diners way longer than acceptable. Check her out. She's very happy.

LISTENERS' FAVORITE - MY HAPPY ENDING MASSAGE Aug 27, 2020
    Show notes

    Welcome Back!

This week I proudly present my most popular episode of all time, My Happy Ending Massage.

As you're about to hear, this night was actually part of an amazing, three-day smutstravaganza I went on in Las Vegas.

    Don't judge.

I was away from home for weeks. I was facing a big birthday. I was dehydrated. Whatever the reason may be, I did engage in some very questionable behavior and you're about to hear all about 2/3 of that behavior. The final piece will be revealed in my memoir. It's worth the wait.

To briefly set the table, I'd been working in Las Vegas for several weeks, shooting season 5 of our show Swing, which was all about monogamous couples trying the swinging lifestyle. Just about every night was spent in the middle of the most sex-charged atmosphere you could ever imagine. Plus, we could never find good gluten free pizza.

As a result, I was more than a little frustrated.

So, here's a trip back to the penultimate night of a smutty three day bender. A night that literally changed my life forever.

Other than the bad pizza, I don't regret a thing.

    Plus!!!

At 24:10 don't miss a Screw Confession where a highly ambitious woman absolutely loses it when things get a little too deep.

    NOTES

At 11:58, my dear Canadian friend, Sex & Relationship Expert, Dr. Jessica O'Reilly makes an appearance. One of my favorite people on the planet, I look at Jess as the Great White North Star of Sex.

Oh…and according to Yelp, the Bad Attitude Boutique on East Sahara Avenue, is permanently closed. No word on the lady in the track suit.

CORRECTION: I reported that the floor was cheap vinyl tile. That was incorrect. It was cheap laminate. I do not regret any of the mistakes made in this recording.

LISTENER FAVORITE UNDER COVERS "NADIA" Aug 20, 2020
    Show notes

For the third of this month's Listener Favorite episodes, I present Under Covers "Nadia"

These Under Covers episodes came from a desire to share with women all sorts of amazing and true stories of women of all ages, economic, social and religious backgrounds. What I started to realize is that even though we're all so different, in many ways we are the same.

If you want to take a deep dive into the first ten Under Covers episodes, check out this piece all about all of the conversations on Medium.com.

This episode clearly hit a chord with my listeners as it is the third most popular episode of all time. I was completely blown away by this woman's confidence and how she became the total boss of her sex life while she was still a teenager. We can all learn a lot from her.

If you'd like to be interviewed Under Covers, please email me today and we can set it up. Also, don't forget, all 5-star reviews left this month will receive their very own CUSTOM JINGLE performed by me on the show!!! Come on! Leave me some love and I will sing you a personalized jingle. You can't put a price on awesome!

Alright friends, sit back and enjoy my third most popular episode OF ALL TIME, Under Covers "Nadia"

    NADIA

    (That's not her real name).

Just like the previous Under Covers conversations, there's a lot I could share with you about Nadia in advance, but the truth is, I knew absolutely nothing about her when I started this interview. I didn't know her age, her job, her socioeconomic status, her religious background, where she lived, nothing. And that was 100% deliberate because these are bits of information we all use to subtly judge and categorize each other in advance. I wanted all of that off the table because going into an interview blind is a great way for me to experience these conversations exactly like you will.

I never knew what her answers were going to be.

This is all about hearing other women's stories with no bias whatsoever, and realizing that there may be aspects of another woman's vastly different life that actually resonates with your own. Suddenly, you're not so alone anymore. Suddenly things make a little more sense. Maybe by hearing these stories, you can move forward with the knowledge that we're all in this together and the best way for all of us to start healing is to start sharing our differences with each other.

    With no judgment.

So, I will keep this brief.

All you need to know in advance is that Nadia is 31, married and polyamorous.

That's where all similarities end…or begin.

    MEMORABLE QUOTES

"There was a decade of my life where I was like, I'm only going to have sex with you if you excite me tremendously. So that was like a lot of really great sex for a while."

"I've always felt constrained by the rules of monogamy."

"The thing with rules is that whenever a rule is set, people want to break it."

"I'm always loving multiple people. That's a thing that is very real for me."

"I think a lot of people often don't understand that this kind of arrangement actually requires way more trust. Way more communication."

"Most marriages do end and I'm much more hopeful for the longevity of my partnership now that we are open and talking about these things."

Be sure to check out all of my super fun writing on Medium.com. It's exactly like the podcast only completely different.

LISTENER FAVORITE -- EXPERT BLOWJOB TIPS FROM A GAY MAN Aug 13, 2020
    Show notes

For the second of this month's Listener Favorite Episodes, here are EXPERT BLOWJOB TIPS FROM A GAY MAN

As you're about to hear, there is a very funny backstory to this episode and how it all came to fruition. Basically, it was a last minute Hail Mary that turned into a total blockbuster with my listeners. Which, of course, makes total sense.

Now as we all know, Michele Bachmann once said, "No one knows his way around a penis like a gay man." Or maybe she was talking about her husband?

    Either way, it's totally TRUE!

That's why on this episode, I went to THE SOURCE! My very dear friend and "gay husband," Mr. LaRue, to find out exactly what blowjob techniques will blow a guy's mind.

I hate to call out the Blowjob Education Industrial Complex, whose annual operating budget must 7,504,503% larger than the Cunnilingus Community College budget, but the hard fact is that men are in charge of fucking everything. Which is why womenpeople are inundated with scrillions of classes, magazine articles, listicles, podcasts, instagram posts, Facebook fights, and videos all dedicated to making us Blowjob Beyonces.

Cunnilingus tips? Heeeey, look over there! It's a boner!

Here is my irrefutable anecdotal evidence: I invited my pal, sex educator Nina Hartley to teach a blowjob class to some of my vanilla suburban friends in my living room, and it was standing room only! And I have a big living room! On the flip side, I had a cunnilingus class in my house and 6 people showed up. That includes me and one friend who happened to be there just to return the Pyrex baking dish they'd borrowed.

So yeah, we're all getting sucked in to the pressure to become blowjob goddesses. That's why I decided to go right to the source and got some insane BJ tips from my boo, Mr. LaRue, who knows his way around a boner.

You are about to learn things that I've never ever heard. And that, my friends, is saying something.

This, one of my most popular episodes ever, really sucks! In the good way.

Be sure to check out my super fun writing on Medium.com. It's exactly like the podcast only completely different.

LISTENER FAVORITE - HOW TO HAVE A THREESOME (WITHOUT HAVING ANYONE ELSE IN YOUR BED) Aug 06, 2020
    Show notes

For the first of this month's Listener Favorite Episodes, we're going to focus on the top sexual fantasy for couples - a THREESOME. So many couples fantasize about having a third join them in bed but…

HOW DO YOU FIND THAT PERSON?

HOW DO YOU BOTH AGREE TO THAT PERSON??

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH POTENTIAL JEALOUSY ISSUES???

These are all common questions and there's a lot to consider before you both decide to get naked in front of someone else.

In one of our most popular episodes ever, I reveal, step-by-step, the safest and easiest way for you and your partner to have a threesome. The best part is, you get to have sex with anyone you want!!!!

    Don't believe me? Just listen.

    EPISODE NOTES

My long-suffering husband is played by…my actual long-suffering husband, Karl T. Wright. He's dreamy!

Christina Hendricks could have been played by Christina Hendricks. At least, that's what I'm telling myself.

THE SEXUALLY FLUID WOMAN Jul 30, 2020
    Show notes

I'm not the most adventurous eater. In fact, you can say I'm downright picky. There are some foods I flat out refuse to try. Brussels sprouts, lima beans, potato salad — even though I'd never tasted them, I was certain I hated them.

Then one day my husband made brussels sprouts and I tried them. And I liked them! Hey Mikey! Now, whenever I'm in the mood, I eat brussels sprouts.

Believe it or not, your sexual orientation has a lot in common with brussels sprouts. All of your life you can be convinced that you are ONLY ONE WAY. I am gay and that's it! I am straight and that's it! I'm asexual and that's it!

But then someone comes along, lays some serious mack on you and the next thing you know you're getting a hand job from a hot redhead in a dressing room of the Marshalls in Burbank.

    Of course, I'm speaking hypothetically.

But, there's a pretty good reason why you don't have to be so defiantly locked in to your sexual orientation. Like any other trait or restrictive beliefs you might have, there's always some room for fun and new experiences.

Which brings us to the concept of Sexual Fluidity.

On this episode, I speak with a woman who's the all-time Sexual Fluidity champion of the world. Her sexual orientation has taken more thrilling twists and turns than the Monaco Grand Prix. And the best part is, she's happily going along for the ride.

Whether you identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, or asexual…or a combination of any of these…or none of them, this show has something for you. Because, whether or not you use the correct terminology, humans don't actually fit in categories. We're changeable. Evolving. Allowed to change our minds. We're all fluid.

There's a funny thing about labels. They don't really matter at all. As W.C. Fields once said,

"It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to."

If you're curious about where you would land on the sexual orientation scale, in 1948, Drs. Alfred Kinsey, Wardell Pomeroy, and Clyde Martin interviewed thousands of people about their sexual histories. They used this data to develop a Heterosexual-Homosexual Rating Scale—more commonly known as "The Kinsey Scale." There's no official "Kinsey Test" you can take to find out your designation. However, many folks have collated the questions and created their own versions of the Kinsey Scale Test designed to determine where you would land on the Heterosexual/ Homosexual spectrum.

From the folks who brought you such quizzes as, Which Vegetarian Pizza Topping Are You? and Which Friends Supporting Cast Member Would You Most Like To Murder? here's a very fun Buzzfeed version of the Kinsey Scale Test.

Fun Fact: I took the test and the outcome was hella accurate. Also, it turns out I'm a Mushroom and I'd like to murder Gunther.

OKAY, MY KID IS GAY Jul 23, 2020
    Show notes

You're sitting down with your 10-year-old for a dinner of mac and cheese, chicken nuggets and grapes. All on separate plates, of course. On the table there's a box of spilled apple juice, a few Snoopy stickers and several dried-out markers. Soccer gear is strewn on the floor alongside a few of this morning's Cheerios and a naked Barbie missing half of her hair. It's just another day. Until your kid turns to you and says, "Mom, I think I'm a lesbian."

How would you react in that moment?

For many parents this is a moment they never saw coming, but it got there. Fast. What should you say? What shouldn't you say? Were you completely surprised? Have you always known but never really accepted it? How do you hear this and let your child know that they're safe and loved and what they're feeling is perfectly okay?

It's a situation that millions of parents have faced. And thanks to more positive role models and American culture becoming less hostile towards LGTBQ people, the average age of children coming out has dropped from their early 20s to anywhere between 14 and 16. Parents shouldn't just assume their children are straight until proven otherwise. Even if your kid has a different identity in two years or two months, it's important to support how they feel today. But where do you start?

On this episode, I speak with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Childhood Mental Health Specialist, Melody Parks. Reach her here at Parks Therapy. Melody reveals the struggles that children of all backgrounds must navigate and gives parents tools to help their children know that they're loved, supported and safe regardless of sexual orientation. I also speak with a friend whose 13 year-old daughter decided to come out during a family vacation. Blindsided, the mother responded in the best way she could.

According to The Trevor Project, LGB youth are almost five times as likely to have attempted suicide compared to heterosexual youth. How you respond to your child's coming out can be what keeps your kid alive.

I've also found several very helpful resources for parents of LGBT kids:

    https://www.stonewall.org.uk/help-advice/coming-out/coming-out-advice-and-guidance-parents

    https://pflag.org/sites/default/files/OUR%20CHILDREN_PFLAGNational_FINAL.pdf

    https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/teen/dating-sex/Pages/Four-Stages-of-Coming-Out.aspx

    https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/tips-for-parents-of-lgbtq-youth

    https://nccc.georgetown.edu/documents/LGBT_Brief.pdf

    https://www.insider.com/what-to-do-when-someone-comes-out-2017-12

I also recommend the book: This is a Book for Parents of Gay Kids: A Question & Answer Guide to Everyday Life

Being gay is not a crime and it's not a sin. Some people believe that having an LGBTQ child means they somehow failed as a parent. Disowning your child means you failed as a parent.

I think most experts will agree that the best thing you can say to your child when they come out is: I Love You.

That is the perfect place to start.

SETTING SEXUAL BOUNDARIES Jul 16, 2020
    Show notes

Boundaries. The word itself can be as intimidating as barbed wire.

    Scary to set.

    Scary to express.

    Scary to defend.

But you know what's scarier than setting or defending boundaries? Having no boundaries at all.

There's a good reason you might be afraid to establish boundaries. Perhaps you were socialized never to make waves, or told to be obedient at all times otherwise you might upset someone. Or you were told that you're responsible for everybody else's feelings, or selfish if you ever put yourself first. It's entirely possible you were fed those lines of bullshit. Especially if you were a girl. Also, it can be very challenging to advocate for yourself, especially if you're used to always putting others before you.

Just like applying sunscreen, brushing your teeth, or washing your hands regularly, establishing boundaries should be a critical part of your daily self-care routine. You are well within your rights to ask for what you want and to reject things that are not serving you. Because, you are taking care of yourself and your needs. Plus, how you treat yourself teaches others how to treat you.

YOU ARE WORTHY AND YOU DON'T NEED TO APOLOGIZE FOR IT

Sorry, I have a few more things to say…

In this episode, I mention a recent Canadian study I found that revealed how and why women apologize more than men. Sorry. Many thought that was only a stereotype, but, sorry, it turned out to be true for a surprising reason. Here's a link with info how you can read the study in full. Sorry.

I also refer to a piece on Bustle.com How You Can Set Boundaries With A New Sexual Partner. Even if you've been with someone for a while, the advice here is very helpful and really affirms the importance of establishing sexual boundaries not only for your own health but for a healthy relationship.

I also share the story of a woman who was having painful sex because she was afraid that asking to use lube would somehow offend her husband. GAHHHHHH!

I mention a lube I really like called Sliquid Organics Gel. Because I have a super delicate ecosystem, I love this product. It's aloe vera based and water soluble. 100% Vegan friendly with no animal testing. It's glycerin, paraben and petroleum free. It's latex, rubber and plastic friendly. It's hypoallergenic, non-toxic, non-staining, unflavored and unscented. You can purchase it here.

If you feel as if you're not worthy of getting what you want or that you always find yourself saying "Sorry" before voicing an opinion or really anything, please check out this episode about establishing boundaries, especially sexual boundaries, and why you are 100% allowed and encouraged to establish them for your own well-being.

As Brené Brown says, "Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves even when we risk disappointing others."

Or, as I say, "If people can't respect your boundaries, fuck 'em. Or better yet…don't."

INSIDE A VIRTUAL SEX PARTY WITH LILA DONNOLO Jul 09, 2020
    Show notes

We already know that due to the COVID pandemic, it's not currently safe to attend a crowded restaurant. It's not safe to attend a busy gym. It's not safe to attend large religious gatherings.

So…it's almost certainly not safe to attend an orgy.

What's a sexually adventurous person to do?

    Attend one online?

That's right, thanks to the pandemic, some folks are now opting for video platforms such as Skype, Zoom and FaceTime for their orgies. UK-based, high-end sex party club Killing Kittens hosted a 100 person orgy online in March complete with burlesque performers, a cage, a live DJ, and 100 masked members.

But, despite the fact that they are having a moment, Zoom, is not exactly thrilled with this burgeoning use for their beloved platform. They announced earlier this year that they were going to crack down (no pun intended) on "unacceptable use" and use machine learning to detect sex parties and nudity. For research. Totally.

Meanwhile, they have much bigger problems than a bunch of folks e-banging online. With so much Zoom usage due to the pandemic, the platform faced a huge privacy and security backlash as their default settings lacked real security. Suddenly pranksters started crashing private Zoom meetings, playing offensive videos and being all around creeps.

Zoom, you have much bigger problems than policing a bunch of consensual orgies!

Now that virtual play parties are the new normal and actually a very safe entry point into the sex party world, how do you find one? What happens when you get in? What are the rules?

My guest Lila Donnolo is a veteran host and sex educator. The brilliant mind behind the podcast Horizontal With Lila, she is a founding member of Hacienda Villa, a sex-positive intentional community in Brooklyn, NY. Lila is an expert in making private conversations public, being in service of eradicating shame, and at cultivating connection. On this episode, she reveals exactly what you need to do to get invited to a virtual sex party. The importance of knowing and following the rules. How you let attendees know if you're interested in e-playing with them. How you protect your privacy once you start playing, and even how you protect your keyboard. These are things you need to do before you screw…online.

During our conversation, we also reflect back on the sex party I attended without my husband last year, and the lessons I learned from that crazy night.

Contact Lila for your Personal Intimacy Roadmap, 60-minute sessions of sex-positive, judgment-free, kink-aware, LGBTQ+ celebratory, gender-affirming guidance on your intimate struggles. A session includes: exercises, techniques, recommendations, homework & a tailored document you can refer back to like your own personal intimacy road map!

Definitely check out Horizontal with Lila and follow @horizontalwithlila on Instagram. I'm going to have a much deeper conversation with her later this summer about her work at Hacienda Villa, her podcast and why she's currently hanging out in an Indonesian jungle. She will be back on for a much bigger conversation very soon.

Meanwhile, here's another link I mentioned: 9 Dope Podcasts About Black Love, Family and Sex That Keep It All The Way Real. Please support these podcasts and amplify BIPOC voices whenever you can.

Here's a link to my writing on Medium.com if you want to read about my crazy adventures as head of programming at Playboy TV. Trust me, you totally do.

Now I'm gonna make some space in my nightstand for a roll of plastic wrap. Cause...well, ya never know...

SWINGING WHILE BLACK Jul 03, 2020
    Show notes

When you think of swinging, what's the first image that comes to your mind? Some key party in the 1970s? Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in masks? A suburban couple revealing their lifestyle on The Oprah Show? I'm going to assume all of those images in your mind have one thing in common.

    Everybody is white.

If you've been paying attention you know it's already dangerous to be driving while Black.

    Outside a store while Black.

    Voting while Black.

    Riding a train while Black.

Sitting in your car while Black.

    Wearing a hoodie while Black.

Walking in your neighborhood with a friend while Black.

Minding your own damn business inside your own damn apartment while Black.

But when it comes being a swinger…do Black people really do that?

Yes they do. And for some…it can be, well, interesting.

On this episode, I talk to one half of a "rarity" in the swinging community: A Black couple. Pursuing the lifestyle of their choice, both he and his wife have experienced all sorts of interesting comments, rejections and flat out fetishization. My guest discusses what it's like to be at a sex party with Trump supporters, the crazy expectations or blatant racism they encounter on swinger dating sites and also the historic implications of being a Black man watching your wife have sex with a White man.

Everything you think you knew about the lifestyle is about to change.

If you'd like to contact my guest Mink and his wife Andy, check out the swinging lifestyle site Kasidie.com and search for MinkandAndy. At the very least, you know it's going to be a funny night.

Here's my Medium.com story about the night I dragged my husband to a swinger party for work. It did not go well.

It's important to remember that the racial awareness that's happening right now in this country is not just some trend and we must keep working to educate ourselves and help put an end to systemic racism. White people need to better understand our part in this country's deeply rooted racist past and the millions of ways we've benefited from it without even realizing. There's a lot more work that needs to be done.

Please don't ask or expect Black people to educate you. You have to listen, learn and do the work yourself.
