    With a foundational mission to benefit society, EPRI delivers independent, objective thought leadership and industry expertise to help the energy sector identify issues, technology gaps, and broader needs that can be addressed through collaborative R&D programs.

    John Halliwell is Senior Technical Executive of Electric Transportation for EPRI, and the SAE J1772 Document Sponsor and Task Force Chair. We sat down with him to discuss how EPRI is improving electricity generation and delivery worldwide and his role in revising SAE J1772, the Electric Vehicle Adapter Standard. .

    195. Partnering with Law Enforcement for Safer AVs Dec 14, 2023

    As autonomous trucks scale nationwide, law enforcement has a critical role to play in thedevelopment of safe roadway policies for the AV industry.

    In an effort to incorporate this perspective, some self-driving technology companies, like Kodiak Robotics and Aurora, are partnering with experienced law enforcement professionals to ensure autonomous trucks meet rigorous standards before they are deployed on U.S. highways.

    194. A Disruptive Tech Company in the Automotive World Dec 07, 2023

    We don’t compete, we complete. That’s the philosophy at REE Automotive as they redefine the commercial vehicle industry with a fully modular EV platform.

    REE’s x-by-wire corner technology enables a completely flat and modular chassis that supports all mission-specific EVs from Class 1 to Class 6 and provides 25 to 30 percent more space for cargo, people, or batteries than a traditional vehicle. REE’s flexible EV platforms are autonomous-capable, offer a low total cost of ownership, and drastically reduce the time to market for fleets looking to electrify.

    193. Powering Additive Manufacturing in Pittsburgh Nov 30, 2023

    Laser and electron beams as energy sources for 3D printing? It might sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, but it’s all happening at Neighborhood 91, an additive manufacturing campus in Pittsburgh.

    As part of the Neighborhood 91 community, Cumberland Additive is unlocking the power of additive manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) for its customers in aerospace, defense, space, energy, and soon, medical.

    .

    In fact, Cumberland Additive and JEOL USA recently announced that Cumberland’s Neighborhood 91 facility in Pittsburgh will be the first installation in North America of JEOL’s new Electron Beam Melting (EBM) Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) system. This new metal 3D printed e-beam system will expand capabilities, primarily for serial production of parts.
