    204. The Urgency of AV Safety Feb 22, 2024

    40 million miles of real-world driving experience? That’s enough to drive to the Moon and back 80 times! And Waymo is putting that experience to work with an urgent, research-driven approach to AV safety.

    As the world’s first autonomous ride-hailing service, Waymo One is available in San Francisco, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and soon, Austin. To date, the data indicates that the Waymo Driver is already reducing traffic injuries and fatalities in these locations.

    203. How Uber is Prioritizing AV Safety Feb 15, 2024

    The commercialization of autonomous vehicles requires proficiency across many domains: engineering, product development, logistics, public policy, and more. But no matter the area of expertise, one theme is constant: safety must come first. But how do you measure AV safety in a tangible and transparent way?

    Just ask Aurora. As the company approaches their first commercial AV trial run from Dallas to Houston, they are laser focused on achieving their Aurora Driver Ready milestone by validating software, hardening hardware, and closing the Aurora Driver Safety Case, an industry first.
