    Run Eat Drink Podcast

Welcome to the Run Eat Drink Podcast!  This is the podcast where we embark on exciting adventures, combining our love for running, delicious food, and tasty beverages. Whether you’re an elite runner aiming for victory or just starting your “Couch to 5K” journey, we’ve got something for you. Let’s dive into the three pillars of our show:

Accomplish (Run): Accomplishment is deeply personal. Are you eyeing a race series win, planning your next “run-cation,” or hoping to set a personal record in your next half-marathon? Each week, we feature fantastic destination races from around the country. Discover scenic courses, learn about the charities they support, and get inspired to lace up those running shoes. And when we’re not on the road, we share interviews, training tips, and insights from our own running journey.

Explore (Eat): Running and traveling go hand in hand. As we explore new places, we also explore local cuisine. We seek out hidden gems—the eateries that locals rave about. Bold flavors, interesting dishes, and passion for food—that’s what we’re after. After each race, join us as we wander the city streets, discovering post-race refueling spots. Whether it’s a gastropub, a food truck, or a cozy café, we’ve got dining options to satisfy your cravings.

Indulge (Drink): When the running is done, it’s time to unwind. We raise our glasses to celebrate our accomplishments. Local breweries, coffee shops, speakeasies, and watering holes—these are our destinations. From craft beers to artisanal cocktails, we explore the beverage scene. Cheers to a well-deserved drink after crossing the finish line!

Join us on this journey of accomplishment, exploration, and indulgence. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or a curious foodie, there’s a place for you at the Run Eat Drink Podcast.

Question for My Fellow Runners Jul 14, 2017

While this is not a "Quick Bite" or a regular episode, I wanted to put a question out to my fellow runners. When I can't travel to a destination race, I will be sharing my experiences running, but also asking questions of those runners who are much more experienced than I am. Like I always say, I am a "back of the pack" kind of runner who makes the most of the race entry fee. I look to more experienced runners to gain information and I will share what has worked for me in addition to filming the full podcast episodes where I feature a great city, destination run, delicious food, and tasty beverages. I always say we accomplish, explore, and indulge together. That accomplishment comes from sharing what I know and learning from the great people I connect with online and through social media.

RED Quick Bite #7: Fresh and Easy Guacamole at Home Jul 08, 2017

    July 8, 2017

Yes! You can make guacamole at home in no time, and I am proof of that! The avocados are looking good at farmer’s markets and grocery stores at this time of year, so why not use them in a healthy recipe like guacamole to put on delicious pork tacos, as a dip with a snack of carrots and celery, or as a topping for delicious nachos or a nice piece of skirt steak fresh off the grill.

Here is the recipe from this episode:

    Ingredients:

    1 ripe avocado

1 tomato (plum or vine-ripened tomatoes are great)

1/4 of a medium red onion

1 jalapeño (you decide if you want extra heat by leaving the seeds and membranes in or removing them)

    1/2 of a lime

    1/4 cup cilantro

1 teaspoon adobo seasoning (not the sauce that comes from the chipotle in adobo sauce, although that might add a smoky twist to the recipe, so if you try it, let me know!)

    Preparation:

    1. Chop all the veggies to relatively the same size and slice the lime.
    2. Chop the cilantro.
    3. Chop the cilantro.
    4. In a large bowl, add the avocado and mash it with a fork to desired consistency.
    5. Squeeze the lime into the bowl and stir it into the avocado.
    6. Add the chopped veggies to the bowl and stir to combine.
    7. Add the adobo of your choice and season to taste.
    8. Stir well.
    9. Taste. Finish with an extra squeeze of lime and any extra adobo seasoning you like.
    10. ENJOY!

Let us know how you like it and what you are eating your guacamole with this summer!

Here's a link to the adobo we used in this recipe and the other flavors Goya offers:

Our inspiration for this recipe comes from one of our favorite restaurants in town, Mexico Lindo. If you are ever in our neck of the woods, you should definitely check them out. Check in on Yelp, too, if you want to try it for free along with the purchase of a tasty meal! (We recommend the brisket tacos... life-changing!! Possible podcast episode at a later date!)

    July 5, 2017

This week I was lucky enough to have a mid-week day off from work so we could go to our favorite pizza joint of all time, Nice Guys Pizza. I will review their food in a later episode, but tonight, it is all about one of the beers they had on Nitro, JDub's Brewing Company out of Sarasota, Florida. Bell Cow Milk Chocolate Porter is smooth, light bodied, and the prominent chocolate flavor makes it the perfect adult chocolate milk.

RED Quick Bite # 5: Yummy Devil Crab Croquette at Columbia Cafe on Tampa Riverwalk Jun 30, 2017

After any race, it is time to celebrate and refuel. At the Columbia Cafe, a part of the Columbia Restaurant family which has been a Tampa staple since 1905, we sample the Devil Crab Croquette. It is a delicious combination of Cuban breadcrumbs, spices, and crab, deep fried together for the perfect bite. It was so delicious, it took 2 minutes to review it. There is so much more we tasted during our outstanding meal from this historic landmark in Tampa. For more from our Tampa Beer Run and visit to the Columbia, check out the full episode.

RED Quick Bite #4 Coppertail Brewing Company's Unholy Trippel Jun 29, 2017
    Show notes

    Send us Fan Mail

In this quick bite, we take 90-second break from running to sample our final beer at the Tampa Beer Run, all of this benefitting a great organization called My Hope Chest. Coppertail Brewing Company's Unholy Trippel and has an ABV of 9.5%, although its light color could fool you. It would pair very well with the deviled crab croquette we had at the Columbia Restaurant (featured in our next quick bite). It has notes of apricot and a bitter finish. Great to sip in the humidity of the Florida summer. For more from our Tampa Beer Run, check out the full episode.

In this quick bite at beer stop #3 on the Tampa Beer Run, we sample Free Dive IPA from Coppertail Brewing Company and tell you about it in less than 90 seconds. At 5.9% ABV, this American IPA has hints of citrus and a bitter finish. It might go well with some Florida seafood, like stone crabs. Enjoy! For more from our Tampa Beer Run, check out the full episode. As always, if you choose to have a cold one, please drink responsibly. My cameraman for this episode was my designated driver.

RED Quick Bite # 2: Funky Buddha Pineapple Beach Jun 27, 2017

This is a quick review of a tasty beverage from our Tampa Beer Run, Funky Buddha's Pineapple Beach. This blonde ale is great for a hot day and light enough to drink while mowing the lawn or after running a 5K. Not overly sweet, hops and a subtle flavor of pineapple make this a great choice in the heat of summer. For more from our Tampa Beer Run, check out the full episode. (As always, if you choose to, please drink responsibly, of course. My cameraman was my designated driver for this episode.)
