Brad Robinson RIPEcast Live from BOC 2018 Jan 11, 2018

Show notes

This week we are featuring our first of many live sets from the recent Breakfast of Champions event on New Years Day. This mix is from Space Cowboy veteran Brad Robinson who played mid day inside the RIDE room. Here are a few words from @djbradrobinson: A lot of people will tell you that Breakfast of Champions is their favorite party of the year. There is a reason why. It's because there is so much love and positive energy packed into this party. From the amazing guests that attend, to the artists that perform, to the event staff, and the Space Cowboy hosts that glue the whole thing together. The cowboys have been throwing this party now for 18 years and while things come and go in San Francisco, I am proud to be a part of this group and iconic event. As for the music, this is pure Brad Robinson through and through. Enjoy it! 8ball - Ambient/Chill New Year's Eve Yoga Celebration 2018 Jan 05, 2018

Show notes

Disclaimer: This is a chill mix and not meant for dancing. You can try to dance to it, but don't be surprised if you find it more difficult than usual. I had a wonderful time playing at Mark Morford's yoga workshop on New Year's Eve. Rather than record the event live, which would've included Mark's talk track*, I've recreated the set I played. We started with background tunes while people walked in and got settled, then chill tracks as the workshop began, and later a couple higher energy house tracks for a few minutes of dancing, and finally winding down with more beatless spacey vibes. - 8b * Mark didn't think folks would want to re-listen to his voice on the mix. I kinda disagree, but to record a clean mix of both his voice and music would've required additional audio mixing gear and attention beyond what could be done for the event.

Show notes

On this weeks RIPEcast we are featuring a guest mix from San Francisco's DJ Celeste. This is a live mix from the recent Loveboat Halloween event in San Francisco. Here is a bit about DJ Celeste. @celeste-lear Hailing originally from Los Angeles but residing in the Bay Area off and on for 10 years, DJ Celeste Lear is a professional mobile event DJ who owns her own 6,000watt sound system and has run sound for and DJ'd hundreds of events, including over 200 weddings - but - this is really just the tip of the iceberg for Celeste whose sonic history runs deep and includes, possessing a degree in sound engineering and operating her own recording studio, 6 album releases on her own indie label, 50+ original song placements on film, commercial & television, plus a steady 15+ years history of consistently pushing the perameters in the music production & DJ world with her own unique vision for music. Another interesting note is that Celeste is deaf in her right ear from a car accident since she was 16, but does not let this handicap come in the way of her and her quest to ROCK THE WORLD!!! Recent highlights include, DJing at Outside Lands, Public Works, Love Boat Halloween as well as regular gigs for corporate clients such as Apple, Google, MOMA, Dell and StubHub.

Ardalan RIPEcast Guest Mix Dec 20, 2017

Show notes

On this weeks episode of the RIPEcast we are pleased to bring you a special all vinyl guest mix from Ardalan. Range, appeal and a massive dose of nasty, gritty bass are the three chief weapons every Dirtybird artist has in his quiver, but Ardalan seems to be the peak culmination of all those assets in one wieldy point. This young archer has had the incomprehensible luck to fall into crew with his idols, be reared by their best and given some of their most guarded musical secrets, then hoisted to a platform to blare his prodigious beats from places where most creators can only dream of being. @ardalann @dirtybirdrecords ---------------------------- We are excited to have Ardalan performing at the Space Cowboys annual Breakfast of Champions event on New Years Day 2018, joining an already amazing lineup. Kapt'n Kirk RIPEcast TEN! Dec 06, 2017

Show notes

This week we have a special treat for you....a brand spankin' new studio mix from our very own Kapt'n Kirk. Here are a few words from Kirk: Ten! Why Ten? Ten years DJing? Nope, that’s ~18. Actually, it’s been 10 years since I made a proper “studio” mix at home. I’ve posted many mixes in the last 10 years yet all of them were recorded live (except for one, which I simply re-recorded a previously played live set, but I don’t count that one 😉). Anyway, I put together my favorite tracks I’ve acquired over the last year (ish) and mixed em for ya. There’s some good stuff in there, and I hope you enjoy the show! Peace…kapt’n ------------------ Don't forget to pick up your tickets for Breakfast of Champions on New Years Day in San Francisco featuring Stanton Warriors, Ardalan, Tara Brooks, a gaggle of your favorite local DJ's, and of course the Space Cowboys!!!
