Sol RIPEcast Live from BOC 2018 Mar 21, 2018

Show notes

On this weeks episode of the RIPEcast, we are bringing you our very own cowboy Sol with his live set from Breakfast of Champions 2018. Here are a few words from Sol: BOC… it just keeps getting better!! It was a real treat to be invited play this amazing event for the 12th year in a row!! The weather was absolutely perfect and the music was even better which brought out lots of beautiful freaks and smiling faces. Also this year's line up was super stellar, from all the Space Cowboys and “friends of" to a few of my all-time favorites including DJ Dan, Doc Martin and breakbeat maestros the Stanton Warriors!! I was fortunate enough to play right before both the Warriors and Doc, albeit on a different stage, so I definitely wanted to kick the party up a few notches. I followed right behind Shizzla, who I tagged a couple of tracks with in the beginning, then I jumped into some of my favorite new bomb-diggity bombs that really got the room movin!! So kick back, relax and enjoy the ride!! For more Sol mixes: https://soundcloud.com/solsound https://soundcloud.com/spacecowboys/sets/sol Photo credit: Dirk Wyse http://www.dirkwysephoto.com/

Show notes

On this weeks episode of the Space Cowboys RIPEcast we are bringing you Agent 137’s live set from Breakfast of Champions 2018. Here are a few words from @agent-137: Code Name: Agent 137 @ Breakfast of Champions 2018 (Space Cowboys) Drop Point: New Years Day 7am-8am (sunrise occurred at 7:24am that particular day) I knew I wanted to play a sexy drumnbasstastic sunrise set that eased it in slowly for the crew that just rubbed the sleepy sand out of their eyes ... and then bumped it the funk up for my soldiers just rolling in from a NYE night out. Now here it is in RIPE form to start out your day in the same fashion. I want to thank the Space Cowboys for considering me for their local heroes lineup and publishing this RIPEcast. Even though I live in NYC (hehe shhh), I feel a huge connection and bond to a lot of you and feel so very at home every time I visit San Francisco. I am so happy that I was able to be a part of this really fantastic event. From execution of the the details, to the absolutely bangin music all damn day, to the fans, to the friends, to the t-shirt - BOC is a class act. Thank you!

Deckard and I recently discovered that we were both working on tribute mixes to LCD Soundsystem, so consider this mix as Part 1 of a 2 part series. For my mix, I wanted to use a variety of remixes and odd bits I've collected over the years, including some tracks where Murphy and Wang were featured guests. Stay tuned for Deckard's Part 2!

8Ball - House and Funk and... for Feb 2018 Feb 20, 2018

Show notes

Hello Friends, I started working on this house/disco/funk mix earlier in the month and was going to release it for Valentine's Day. But then 17 kids were murdered by an unhinged teen wielding an AR-15 at Stoneman Douglas HS in Florida. After my BoC set, I'd been listening to these groovy, fun, funky, and optimistic housey tracks and decided mix them. But after FL, I considered deleting the set. Over the last few days the children & families from that HS began talking passionately about change and I got a little more hopeful and optimistic. Maybe you did, too. So with that in mind, here's my mix for Feb. xo, 8b PS: https://everytown.org PPS: https://www.marchforourlives.com

Here are a few words from @Rumblemunk: BoC is my favorite party of the year, and made doubly so when I am asked to play it. I had planned on debuting a new track this year, but alas it was not ready so I squeezed in a couple other originals (I’ll mark them on the timeline). I thank the Cowboys for asking me to become official, and I thank you all for joining me for my Cowboy-debut set! Let’s do this! Here are a few words from #djshooey: It was another great start to the year at Breakfast of Champions 2018! It's always fun to play inside Midway to such a big room... bonus points not DJ'ing on crutches this time! It was an especially satisfying feeling collaborating with my fellow Space Cowboys to make the event happen. Special shout out to our food bank volunteers and attendees who generously donated $7,633 at the gate. The Space Cowboys matched $4,367 for a total of $12,000 to the SF-Marin Food Bank. photo credit: Sunyata Studios / Joshua Lee ★ FB: facebook.com/djshooey ★ Soundcloud: @djshooey ★ More ShOOey mixes: soundcloud.com/spacecowboys/sets/shooey

Show notes

On this weeks episode we are bringing you our very own cowboy 8Ball with his live set from Breakfast of Champions 2018. Here are a few words from 8Ball. Once again I was fortunate enough to start the year off with a day hanging out with several thousand of my friends. This year's line up was packed with stellar talent from home and abroad, so it was a privilege to be included. It also meant I wanted to push my set to be a bit more diverse, moving across a few genres and tempos, with some homegrown mashups and sample drops just for fun. Hope you enjoy. - 8b You can catch more of 8Ball here: https://soundcloud.com/joshdamon https://soundcloud.com/spacecowboys/sets/8ball-mixography https://www.facebook.com/8ballxjoshdamon
