Redfall - The Truth Comes Out Jun 05, 2023

Show notes

My own Redfall review was harsh along with virtually every outlet that played it. The Redfall Bloomberg article by Jason Schreier arrived right on time, as previously predicted, the truth comes out. Anyone with eyes could tell that Redfall gameplay was bad before it came out, and the attempts to defend the game now look even more pathetic. But the question is, who is to blame? As an Xbox exclusive it was added to the long list of Xbox Game Pass games that were supposed to bring value to 2023 for Microsoft. However, both Arkane and Zenimax carry most of the blame as the devs wanted the game to be cancelled, and Zenimax had no idea what it takes to build a multiplayer live service game. Redfall is a first-person shooter video game developed by Arkane Austin and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on May 2, 2023. The game received mixed reviews from critics, with criticism for its gameplay design, story, and technical problems. Summer Game Fest 2023 Predictions Jun 02, 2023

Show notes

My Summer Game Fest 2023 predictions are based on all partners listed. After the PlayStation showcase many are looking to the Xbox Games showcase to answer back. But will they both be at Opening Night Live Summer Game Fest with Geoff Keighley? I actually think so. A recent teaser has many thinking that Fable gameplay will be at the Xbox showcase and others are predicting that another PlayStation exclusive is being held back for the event potentially more Stellar Blade gameplay. I could see the next premium Call of Duty 2023 being there along with Elden Ring DLC or Armored Core 6. There is also speculation about Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth being there but it is more likely to be more Final Fantasy 16 gameplay. Summer Game Fest is a live video game event organized and hosted by game journalist Geoff Keighley. The event takes place annually over multiple live streams during the American summer period. The Last of Us Factions 2 Update from Naughty Dog May 30, 2023

Show notes

The latest Last of Us Factions 2 update from Naughty Dog does not look good. The Last of Us multiplayer game was announced last year so many expected to see or hear from it very soon. Last of Us 2 multiplayer has been highly anticipated and it looks like Bungie told PlayStation to halt the project. Now rumors are swirling about The Last of Us 3 in active development along with another Naughty Dog game being made. Those hoping for The Last of Us 2 Factions to show up anytime soon or hoping we get to see Last of Us 2 multiplayer gameplay may never get their wish. It is quite possible that we see The Last of Us Factions cancelled. Naughty Dog, LLC is an American first-party video game developer based in Santa Monica, California. Founded by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin in 1984, the studio was acquired by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2001. The Xbox Showcase 2023 Can Win May 29, 2023

Show notes

I think the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 can win this summer. In the wake of the weak first party showing at the PlayStation Showcase it could be a good time for Xbox to answer back. With big titles like Starfield, Avowed, Fable, Hellblade 2, and more, they could land in a good place with the consumer. All eyes are likely looking to the Starfield direct there are a lot of Xbox games that could be coming and a big push for Xbox Game Pass games and updates could help as well. For some, the Starfield showcase is all that matters. We are promised more Starfield gameplay which at this point is desperately needed. But Microsoft has a lot of great games in under their umbrella. I am hope to see Hellblade 2, Avowed, Perfect Dark, and Outer Worlds 2. But what about Forza Motorsport 8 and Fable or Everwild from Rare? And we can't forget Gears 6 and State of Decay 3 might also be there. The Xbox Games Showcase will be livestreamed on June 11 at 10am PT and we will be co-streaming it. Final Fantasy 16 Previews Proved Me Wrong May 24, 2023

Show notes

The Final Fantasy XVI preview rundown is here and it is proving me wrong. I thought the Final Fantasy 16 gameplay looked promising but the combat looked like a style that I would not enjoy. The Final Fantasy 16 combat gameplay looked too much like game types that I do not enjoy. It is clear that as a PlayStation 5 exclusive the Final Fantasy 16 graphics are going to be very strong. The latest comments in a Yoshi P interview create an even stronger case for the game being an exclusive. Will we see a Final Fantasy 16 GOTY 2023 at the end of this year? Final Fantasy XVI is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The sixteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, it is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - It Could Steal GOTY 2023 May 23, 2023

Show notes

Recent interviews have me saying that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 could steal game of the year 2023 at The Game Awards. With the PlayStation Showcase 2023 just around the corner it is highly anticipated that Spider Man 2 gameplay will be there. I believe the PS Showcase 2023 will have a new Marvel's Spider-Man 2 trailer with extensive gameplay to show off the game. According to Jim Ryan in a recent interview this game made no compromises. And the Narrative Director from Insomniac said they are making the best game they have ever made. So the hope that we get a huge Marvel's Spider Man 2 gameplay trailer in the showcase. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Show notes

The latest Lords of the Fallen gameplay trailer has me thinking this is a GOTY contender. My Lords of the Fallen reaction is that we could be looking at a contender for GOTY 2023 this year. I don't necessarily think it will win, the most recent Lords of the Fallen trailer shows huge promise. With the announcement of the Lords of the Fallen release date we now have another game of the year contender for video games in 2023. Let's discuss Lords of the Fallen vs Elden Ring comparisons, the Lords of the Fallen difficulty discussion, and lastly the horrible music in the latest trailer. A vast world awaits. Experience fast soulslike combat & epic boss fights in the all-new, dark fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. PlayStation Showcase 2023 - Announcement Looks Huge May 19, 2023

Show notes

The Playstation Showcase 2023 announcement looks huge and should include a ton of games. The Playstation leaks about a Metal Gear Solid remake are looking real. There are even rumors that a GTA 6 announcement may be at the PS Showcase. The PlayStation blog may have included a hint about what Hidetaka Miyazaki has been working on. Obvious appearances with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 gameplay as well as Final Fantasy 16 gameplay are easy to guess. But if a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is coming, a Playstation exclusive announcement should be there. There is also speculation about a Bloodborne remake or Bloodborne 2 being included. Kojima looks to be involved and should be about Death Stranding 2 as well. This will be my Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom review roundup with no spoilers. We will be jumping into Tears of the Kingdom gameplay in a second stream so I can try it for myself. Many see The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom gameplay as the best experience possible on the Nintendo Switch. Pretty much every Zelda TOTK review that I have read or watched is incredibly positive. I can't wait to dive into my own Zelda TOTK gameplay later today. The Zelda fusion mechanic and the Zelda Ultrahand ability is also highly praised. Bloodborne Leaks and Rumors Are Getting Old May 12, 2023

Show notes

The latest Bloodborne rumors are claiming that the Bloodborne remake is being made and a reveal will happen sooner than later. There is also claims that Bloodborne 2 is coming as well and that both will be included in the Playstation Showcase 2023. Typically I ignore this stuff, but this time, it feels different. The desire for a Bloodborne remaster is so high that any Bloodborne leak consistently set the gaming news world on fire. And my response is usually just to roll my eyes and move on, but David Jaffe mentioned recently that a reliable reporter told him the remaster is being made, and we should hear something soon. And if this all coincides with Bloodborne II then we are in for a huge PlayStation Showcase. Bloodborne is a 2015 action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4.
