Xbox Activision Deal Blocked By The CMA Apr 27, 2023

Show notes

The Xbox Activision deal has been blocked by the CMA over cloud gaming concerns. Prior to now the Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal seemed like it was going through after the CMA provisional findings. While Jim Ryan, Phil Spencer, and Sony have focused on COD and the potential of a Call of Duty Xbox exclusive, the real fight has been for mobile and cloud gaming. The future of Xbox game pass games could be very different without the ABK deal. Playstation in 2023 - Where is Phase Two? Apr 26, 2023

Show notes

When I look at Playstation in 2023 one question comes to mind, where is phase two? My Playstation Showcase 2023 predictions are still in place but in the wake of Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC it seems Sony doesn't have a lot of games for 2023. With everyone looking forward to Marvel's Spider Man 2 gameplay as well as a new Wolverine game trailer many look to Final Fantasy 16 gameplay to carry the summer. But I want to see the Playstation live service games that need to launch by 2026. Obviously questions about the PSVR2 and the Playstation Q Lite handheld are also still in play as we wait for more games and announcements especially new PS5 games for the Playstation 5. Xbox News | Microsoft Unhappy? Apr 25, 2023

Show notes

The latest Xbox news is that Microsoft is unhappy with the state of things which brought Hi-Fi Rush back into the limelight. In a recent episode of Jeff Grubb's Game Mess he made comments that many took to mean Hi Fi Rush flopped despite its apparent success. Jeff Grubb has since explained his comments further in the wake of Aaron Greenburg responding publicly on Twitter. I think the larger discussion to have is about Xbox Series X sales as well as the growing skepticism about Xbox Game Pass games and their success. Especially in light of Phil Spencer saying in previous interviews that Game Pass increases sales. Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks for the Windows and Xbox Series X/S platforms. It was announced on January 25, 2023 and released worldwide the same day. Show notes

The latest Division Heartland gameplay info can be broken down into the good and bad with respect to where they are taking the game. Those waiting for The Division Heartland news will be pleased with all the new information we got in the Division Day Livestream: Official Franchise Updates. A really great video entitled, The Division Heartland: Developer Deep Dive, outlines all the latest info and gameplay details. While we wait for a Division Heartland release date I want to break down both the good and the bad about this new game. Especially for those who remember The Division Survival gameplay. Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland is an upcoming free-to-play third-person shooter action game developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. It is a standalone spin-off set in The Division universe. The Next Gen Console War is Over, and PS5 Just Won Apr 17, 2023

Show notes

Given the recent turn events I truly believe that the next gen console war is over, and PS5 just won. The Redfall 30 fps controversy is just one more disappointment for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Pass games in a long series of disappointments. And with brand new Final Fantasy 16 gameplay and the Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores gameplay, it is no undeniable that Sony isn't just winning, they have won. The latest Sony State of Play showcased 20 minutes of new gameplay from Final Fantasy XVI and was basically a FF16 state of play. The gameplay was more than impressive. On the same day we had brand new gameplay from the HFW DLC Burning Shores which featured improved combat, fluidity, and draw distance. And now nobody even knows if Starfield 30fps or Starfield 60fps will be a thing. The confidence in Xbox and the lack of solid next gen first party titles is hurting sales, and likely hurting the future of this console generation. Redfall 30 FPS - This is a joke Apr 14, 2023

Show notes

The gaming news about Redfall 30 fps broke just yesterday and is being considered a big loss for Xbox Game Pass games and the ecosystem. This also causes concern about Starfield 30fps happening as well. I was anticipating the Redfall game as a great co-op game experience. I was going to wait for the full release before doing a Redfall review but now I may not play it at launch. With the Redfall release date in a month this was not the news gamers wanted to hear. Redfall is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Arkane Studios Austin and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set to be released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on May 2, 2023. Starfield Multiplayer Is Needed? Apr 13, 2023

Show notes

Many people think that Starfield multiplayer is needed and I want to talk about why it could be amazing. I actually think that Starfield gameplay looks solid and could be another great Bethesda game like Skyrim and Fallout 4 before it. But I also think they could learn from their previous games before the Starfield release date arrives. And it would be an amazing announcement to include in the Starfield showcase in June. Many will be tuning into the Starfield direct after the Xbox showcase and looking for big samples of gameplay. Starfield is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The video game was formally announced during Bethesda's E3 press conference in 2018. Redfall Gameplay Looks Bad - Here's Why Apr 12, 2023

Show notes

The latest Redfall gameplay looks bad and I am going to try to explain why Redfall looks bad. The Redfall IGN first gameplay received a ton of criticism which prompted a Redfall gameplay montage in an attempt to make the game look better. I was looking forward to the Redfall game in the hopes that it would be a great co-op game experience. At this point I will wait for the full release before doing a Redfall review of the game. The Redfall release date is about a month away at this point and it simply doesn't look that great and I will attempt to explain why in this video. Redfall is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Arkane Studios Austin and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set to be released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on May 2, 2023. Xbox Game Pass | Were We Wrong? Apr 11, 2023

Show notes

When discussing Xbox Game Pass games I consistently have said that live service games would be a perfect fit for Game Pass new games. In light of the Xbox Activision deal many have looked at the Xbox Bethesda deal and think that Zenimax could be a live service game secret weapon. There are 10-12 Sony live service games announced which may drive Microsoft to launch Xbox live service games to compete. The challenge will be, does Game Pass promote spending in a game you don't own? Will they have to make them free to play games to avoid this problem? I will discuss this with @30nsg and the live chat.
