Show notes

The Xbox Activision deal remains in a holding pattern as the FTC case closing arguments just took place. We have the summaries if you are looking for the FTC vs Microsoft live streams. The FTC Xbox lawsuit now waits for the judge's decision in 1-2 weeks. Many found the recent Xbox news that Microsoft wants to spend Sony out of business alarming. The FTC closing arguments focused a lot on Call of Duty along with Jim Ryan and other statements. The Xbox Activision Blizzard deal may not happen if the FTC blocks it. Those who want the Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal to close will have to wait a bit longer. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty - A Completely New Game? Jun 27, 2023

Show notes

Is Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty a completely new game? People who went to Summer Game Fest were able to experience Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty gameplay at the event. Those hoping to dive back in when the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC comes out, it sounds like the perfect time to do it. My own Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty reaction was excited but apprehensive. Many of those discussing this Cyberpunk expansion are saying it is basically a new game. Some aren't sure about charging money for a Cyberpunk DLC after all the problems and issues up until now. Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt. Phantom Liberty, a new spy-thriller adventure to Cyberpunk 2077, arrives on 26.09.2023 (CEST) for PC — pre-purchase now to get in-game access to the Quadra Sport R-7 “Vigilante” when the expansion launches! Starfield Could Win GOTY 2023 Jun 23, 2023

Show notes

I believe that Starfield could win GOTY 2023 this year. After the Starfield Direct I said that if they could nail performance, it can win. Obviously the Starfield 30fps news loomed large and distracted from just how good the Starfield showcase was. I want to recap what stood out to me along with new Starfield gameplay details from interviews and previews. While we said for a proper Starfield preview from more outets, we actually have new details from IGN. I also anticipate both Todd Howard and Phil Spencer dropping more Starfield news before the release date. If we see a Starfield GOTY nomination I will take that as a big win for the game even if it doesn't win. Starfield is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The video game was formally announced during Bethesda's E3 press conference in 2018. Xbox Series S - The Truth Jun 22, 2023

Show notes

Recent comments about the Xbox Series S from Digital Foundry sent me on a search for the truth. The marketing about Xbox Series X vs Xbox Series S is insanely eye opening. There is even an Xbox video that has been set to private on their YouTube channel and we will discuss what it says. The Xbox Series S Carbon Black certainly got everyone's attention at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. And if you go back to the original Project Scarlett reaction re-watching it in the present day feels like 3 minutes of broken promises. Those hoping for an Xbox mid gen refresh will likely not appreciate the Digital Foundry Xbox Series S comments. The description of the Xbox Series S is "Introducing the Xbox Series S, the smallest, sleekest Xbox console ever. Experience the speed and performance of a next-gen all-digital console at an accessible price point." The Final Fantasy 16 Demo Changed My Mind Jun 21, 2023

Show notes

It's official, the Final Fantasy 16 demo changed my mind. I thought that Final Fantasy 16 gameplay would not land on me, and I was incredibly wrong. I anticipate my own Final Fantasy 16 review being quite positive based solely on my experience with the demo. This will serve as more than my Final Fantasy 16 demo reaction after playing through game and the Eikonic Challenge. The Final Fantasy 16 demo playthrough experience is also increasing the game's pre-order sales right now. Final Fantasy XVI is an upcoming action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The sixteenth main installment in the Final Fantasy series, it is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive. Xbox Activision Deal Blocked By The FTC? Jun 16, 2023

Show notes

Some of us want to see Xbox Activision deal blocked by the FTC so the latest news could lead to that. The Microsoft Activision Blizzard deal continues to rumble along and I avoid covering it that often. But between the latest Bobby Kotick interview, the FTC fines Microsoft, the CMA appeal hearing date set, and the suggestion the Xbox games could leave the UK, I need to catch everyone up. Prior to now Jim Ryan, Phil Spencer, and Sony talked about a Call of Duty Xbox exclusive that would hurt the PlayStation 5 and the platform, the real plan is about mobile and cloud gaming. The ABK deal is still far from closing, and Brad Smith thinks the FTC's choice will help to speed things along. Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay Stole The Show Jun 14, 2023

Show notes

The Star Wars Outlaws gameplay stole the show in my opinion. Now that Summer Game Fest 2023 is over gamers are weighing on the best new games from the showcases. The new open world Star Wars game from Massive looks incredibly promising and it coming in 2024. We are supposed to get a new Star Wars game every 6 months, but hopefully this turns out better than Survivor with respect to quality. My Star Wars Outlaws trailer reaction was initial excitement about the prospect of seeing gameplay during Ubisoft Forward 2023. And then my Star Wars Outlaws gameplay reaction was that I was blown away and can't wait for its release date. Experience the first-ever open world Star Wars™ game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Xbox Games Showcase 2023 Review Jun 13, 2023

Show notes

This will be my Xbox Games Showcase 2023 review. My own Xbox showcase reaction was pretty positive, but as the dust has settled there was definitely elements that were disappointing. I will also discuss my Starfield Direct reaction as well. We finally saw more Hellblade 2, Fable, and Avowed, but many are unhappy with what we saw. Obviously the big Starfield 30fps news hit and those hoping for Starfield 60fps on the Xbox Series X are disappointed. It is also clear that Avowed gameplay isn't as strong graphically as what we first saw. I was happy with the Hellblade 2 gameplay but others thought it was too cinematic. And the lack of Fable gameplay as well as a Fable release date got mixed response. Xbox Games Showcase 2023 Predictions Jun 07, 2023

Show notes

My Xbox showcases predictions are increasing after a thread of Aaron Greenburg tweets. The top 5 games I hope to see at the Xbox Showcase 2023 is Avowed, Hellblade 2, Fable, State of Decay 3, and the Gears of War collection. According to Greenburg, there won't be any CGI-only trailers with a focus only on games. Many are only looking to the Starfield Direct more but there are a ton of Xbox games and many Xbox Game Pass games that could be announced. At one level the Starfield showcase is hugely important and we should see more Starfield gameplay that I hope is raw. Microsoft has great games in its catalog. So I would love to see Hellblade 2, Avowed, Perfect Dark, and Outer Worlds 2. But I am curious about Forza Motorsport 8 and Fable or Everwild from Rare. And we can't forget Gears 6 and State of Decay 3 might also be there. The Xbox Games Showcase will be live-streamed on June 11 at 10 am PT and we will be co-streaming it. Diablo 4 Review - Is It Better Than Before? Jun 06, 2023

Show notes

My Diablo 4 review has NO SPOILERS and is based off a good amount of time in the game. I played both betas, and tried multiple classes. Diablo 4 gameplay delivers the goods, but the latest Diablo 4 patch has already nerfed some builds. Some are calling it the Diablo 4 nerf patch in light of what they trimmed down. I continue to think that the Diablo 4 season pass will struggle due to player exodus. The biggest question I had was about the Diablo 4 Druid and if he felt any better. With the Diablo 4 release date right around the corner many of us dove in as fast as we could. Diablo 4 early access gameplay has already lead to some updates and patches. Diablo IV is an action role-playing game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, and is the fourth main installment in the Diablo series. The game was announced at BlizzCon 2019 and is scheduled for full release on June 5, 2023, with early access starting on June 1. Public betas were released in March 2023.
