Looking For Community In An Online World | Episode 026 Apr 27, 2020

Show notes

Join Pastors Sam and Caleb and special guest, Dr. Joel Oesch, for their conversation on how we might be able to find authentic and genuine community in a world that has suddenly been forced to operate primarily online. Is that even possible? What do we miss from not being physically present together? Should church and other community groups begin to exist exclusively online and virtually? How has this crisis rewired our habits and rituals for both good and bad? On this episode, we wrestle with these questions and more during our conversation from our Facebook Live video.

Dr. Oesch joins us from Concordia University in Irvine, CA. He holds a PhD from Concordia Seminary and is a graduate of Yale University. Dr. Oesch has served as the Director of the Graduate Programs in Theology for Christ College, Concordia since 2012. His research interests include embodied theology, the writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and contemporary culture.

With everything said, we know that God works all things out for good and that Jesus is reigning on the throne! In the end, everything is going to be ok. So grab a drink and pull up a chair as we talk about finding community in an online world.

It's A Wonderful Life | The Table | Episode 020 Dec 03, 2019

Show notes

Welcome to Season 3 of The Table where we're learning to have a seat at the intersection of Christ and culture. This season, we're looking at some popular Christmas movies and drawing out key themes to look at through the lens of faith, Christianity and Jesus. The movies we're looking at either are or have been engrained into culture and dramatically influence our Christmas traditions.

We believe that we can find Jesus in everything because Jesus is truth. Every good story that we come to love and cherish has key themes that remind us and call us back to the greater narrative of God and His story of redemption and restoration.

In this episode, we look at the 1946 movie, It's A Wonderful Life starring James Stewart. In this episode, we explore themes of Loss, Love, Sacrifice, our purpose and impact on the world around us as Christians and other things. So grab a drink and pull up a chair as we talk about the Christmas movie, It's A Wonderful Life.
