    Christmas Vacation | The Table | Episode 018 Dec 03, 2019
    Show notes

Welcome to Season 3 of The Table where we're learning to have a seat at the intersection of Christ and culture. This season, we're looking at some popular Christmas movies and drawing out key themes to look at through the lens of faith, Christianity and Jesus. The movies we're looking at either are or have been engrained into culture and dramatically influence our Christmas traditions.

We believe that we can find Jesus in everything because Jesus is truth. Every good story that we come to love and cherish has key themes that remind us and call us back to the greater narrative of God and His story of redemption and restoration.

In this episode, we look at the 1989 movie, Christmas Vacation starring Chevy Chase. In this episode, we explore themes of What Makes Christmas and expectations during Christmas time. We also listen to and discuss the Christmas song, Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid in 1984. So grab a drink and pull up a chair as we talk about the Christmas movie, Christmas Vacation.

In this episode, we look at two non-Christmas, Christmas movies. These two movies are shown every year during Christmas time on cable TV and many people will vehemently argue that they are, in fact, Christmas movies. We're talking, of course, of the 2001 movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone starring Daniel Radcliffe and the 1988 movie Die Hard starring Bruce Willis. In this episode, we explore themes of loss and longing, as well as heroic sacrifice and vulnerability. So grab a drink and pull up a chair as we talk about the non-Christmas Christmas movies, Harry Potter and Die Hard.

    God Sent Them | Sermons+ | Episode 010 Aug 23, 2019
    Show notes

Thank you for joining us for Sermons+! In this podcast, you can expect three things: a summary of the past weekend's sermon, answers to some of the text-in questions from the sermon, as well as the sermon itself. Good disciples ask questions, so keep the questions coming!

Sermon: A Long Long Time Ago God Sent Them

    Preacher: Pastor Caleb Cox

    Text: Genesis 11:1-9

    Listen to Redeemer's Sermons online

    Watch Redeemer's Services on Facebook

    Text-In Questions:

    1) Why does it matter that they were building with bricks and tar vs. stone and mortar?

    2) Isn't what happened at Babel what's happening now?

    3) Does God cause confusion and different ways of thinking to avoid what happened at Babel?

    4) Did the Babel event really happen? It sounds more like a parable than a historical event.

    5) Did God also divide people into different races at Babel? Did people get new skin colors along with different languages?

    6) If everyone was in the same place after the flood, how did people migrate to Americas?

    7) What did God mean when he said that "Nothing would be impossible for them"?

    8) So where do we go from here? Christ unites us! I get that, but how do we bring that to a world that seemingly has little interest in unity, but rather uniformity?
