Amazon, in an effort to attract more Prime members, is significantly increasing the number of songs available through the membership program, from 2 million previously to its entire catalog of 100 million tracks. Amazon Music for Prime is also adding "hundreds of thousands" of ad-free podcast episodes, which has been the top request from podcast listeners, including Wondery's entire slate of shows. However, there is a catch. Prime members listening to Amazon Music will mostly be limited to shuffle-play mode, based on artist, album, or playlist, whereas previously the 2 million songs were available to stream on-demand. Amazon stated that Prime members will be able to listen to songs on-demand via "All-Access" playlists that are personalized based on their preferences. On the podcast front, Prime members now have access to a large selection of ad-free podcasts via Amazon Music. Among these are Wondery's premium shows such as "Dr. Podcasts from partners such as NPR, the New York Times, CNN, ESPN, Slate, and Barstool Sports, as well as Amazon Music-exclusive shows, include "Death," "Business Wars," "SmartLess," and "Even the Rich."
"MrBallen Podcast: Strange, Dark & Mysterious Stories," "Suspect Season 2: Vanished in the Snow," "Cold Season 3: The Search for Sheree," "Killer Psyche Daily," "I Hear Fear," narrated by actor Carey Mulligan, and a weekly bonus episode of "The Old Man and the Three," hosted by former NBA player JJ Redick, are among Amazon Music's exclusive podcasts. Amazon Music will launch its newest exclusive podcast series, "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer," on November 1. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

What does it mean to enjoy the moment? It means enjoying what's happening now and living for today. Choosing to live in the past or the future not only robs you of enjoyment today, but it also robs you of truly living. The only important moment is the present moment.

8 Ways to be more productive for Adults with ADHD meaning Nov 02, 2022
    Show notes

A Hybrid Work Guide for Adults with ADHD. The sudden shift to remote and hybrid work has been a rocky road for many working adults. The challenge can be even greater if you have ADHD. You were probably happy to say goodbye to your daily morning commute. On the other hand, you may now be dealing with new concerns like Zoom fatigue and feeling less connected. Your old routines have disappeared, and it’s difficult to concentrate. How can you work productively and protect your mental health while you’re doing your job at home? Study this guide to hybrid work for adults with ADHD. Tips for Video Conferencing Daily traffic rose 535% on Zoom in 2020. The increase in video conferencing is even greater when you take into account that many companies use multiple platforms. Becoming comfortable with new ways of communicating is essential. These tips will help: 1.Move around. Being on camera reduces your mobility, so you wind up feeling more restless. Walking around the room occasionally and sitting on a stability ball will help use up some energy. 2. Stand back. The constant eye contact during video calls can be overstimulating. Stand or sit further away from your screen to increase your personal space. Watching yourself can be tiring too, so most platforms have options to turn off 1 the self-view. 3. Look away. Relieve mental and physical strain by shifting your gaze away from the screen periodically. Glance up or fix your eyes on an object in the distance. 4. Use audio only. Be selective about turning your camera on. Assess your company’s rules and culture first to avoid causing any friction. 5. Schedule breaks. Video calls can make a desk job even more sedentary. Pause at least once an hour to stretch and take deep breaths. Tips for Other Hybrid Work Issues When your boss and coworkers are miles away, it’s up to you to stay organized and motivated. Try these tips for developing coping strategies that will help you focus: 1. Take your medication. Many adults diagnosed with ADHD take medication as part of their treatment plan. Follow your doctor’s recommendations to help control your symptoms even if you're staying home more. 2.Plan your day. Structuring your time makes it easier to regulate yourself. Set reasonable expectations and block out enough hours for your top priorities. 3. Designate a workspace. Putting boundaries between your personal and professional responsibilities will help you avoid distractions. Turn a spare room into an office or tend to business in one corner of your dining room table. 4.Clear away clutter. Messy surroundings lead to greater anxiety and wasted 2 time. Clean up after yourself and get rid of possessions you no longer use. 5. Add storage. Visit office supply and home furnishing websites to shop for organizing solutions. Maybe you’d rather use baskets than filing cabinets. 6.Post reminders. Find ways to prompt your memory. Hang a chalkboard above your desk. Put sticky notes on your refrigerator door and bathroom mirror. Set alarms on your phone to remind you to go to meetings or move on to your next task. 7. Find a partner. Do you miss the social support you had at the office? Ask a coworker or friend to help you stay on track. Check in with them each morning or lunch hour. 8. End your day. You might forget to shut down when you live and work in the same place. Maintain balance by sticking to a reasonable quitting time. For adults with ADHD, adjusting to hybrid work requires some thought and effort. However, there are advantages too. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Carson Daly says he suffered from anxiety, panic attacks on 'The Voice' Oct 29, 2022
    Show notes

You're not alone if you suffer from anxiety. In fact, about one in six people do — and that number is likely to grow as our world becomes increasingly chaotic. Whether it's general anxiety or a specific phobia (like public speaking), the important thing is that you know anxiety isn't something to be ashamed of. It's normal and can affect anyone at any time during their lives — even JK Rowling! The good news is that there are things you can do right now that will help take the edge off your worry: The J.K. Rowling quote “I decided that I was going to stop being afraid of failing. I was going to give up being terrified of getting it wrong and instead embrace the idea that life is full of mistakes and failures, and that's not a bad thing at all. Because what you learn from failure is far more valuable than what you learn from success." J.K. Rowling Make a list of things you can control and things you can't on a daily basis. Making a daily list of the things you do control and those you don’t can help reduce anxiety. The list should be short, easy to remember, and include only two or three items per day. Here are some examples: Things I can control: My attitude How much effort I put into my work My attitude towards others (i.e., “No matter what they do, it's not my problem."). Things that are beyond my control: * The weather * Traffic patterns on the way to work . Figure out what you're really anxious about. The first step to getting rid of worry is to identify what it is that's causing you anxiety. If you're worrying about money, figure out why. Is there really something that needs fixing right now? Or are you just having a negative thought about your finances because a friend told you they're worried about their own finances and it got stuck in your head? If the issue at hand seems like an actual threat, try asking yourself these questions: How long will it take to fix this problem? How much can I do myself versus how much will have to be done by others? Will anyone else help me with this problem (or maybe even solve it outright)? Spend more time with friends and loved ones who make you feel safe and secure. Spend more time with friends and loved ones who make you feel safe and secure. Avoid spending time with people who make you feel bad about yourself, or who are negative, or whose problems seem unique to them. This means that if your friend is always complaining about her husband's drinking habit and how it's ruining her life, but she never takes any steps to change things because she's afraid of what might happen if she tries—well then maybe it’s time for a new friend! If someone tells you something bad happened to them (or what they think happened) ask questions like "how did that make you feel?" or “what could we do differently next time?” rather than saying things like “that must have been so horrible for everyone involved”. These comments can be helpful in encouraging someone else to move forward after an event—but only if they lead into specific suggestions for doing so! Schedule worry time into your day, but don't exceed the time limit — then let it go. Here's what to do: schedule worry time into your day, but don't exceed the time limit — then let it go. If you have a job and a family, this will be tough to do. But if you can schedule worry time, even if it's just for 15 minutes each day, it will help keep your mind from going too far down the rabbit hole and costing you hours of productivity or sleep. If you need some extra motivation to stick with this habit once you've established it (which is likely), consider using a timer that gradually gets louder as time winds down—it may give you enough warning before things get out of hand so that when the sound goes off, there won't be any excuse not to stop worrying immediately! Remember that at any moment, it could end — so be kind to yourself and others. Wh --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

In order to claim success, you must first accept failure. Oct 28, 2022

Learning from challenges is a key factor that separates successful people from those who only wish their future was bright. When you take the time to reflect on the things you’ve accomplished and how you got there, you’ll find patterns that you can repeat for many other goals you set in your life. Why make the same mistakes, when you’ve already learned how to succeed? Every situation is different. But often the same creative approaches and tactics you’ve applied in previous situations can be applied again to overcome new challenges. When you succeed, write down the steps you took and the results you got. Let this be your success journal that you refer to again and again when making plans for new endeavors. As an added benefit, you’ll grow as a person when you reflect on your successes. Too often, we vividly remember our failures and shortcomings. But there are many things in your life that you’ve accomplished, so magnify those things by taking the time to remember and celebrate those victories. When you take the time to meditate on your successes, you’ll begin to jump at the chance to go after new and more challenging goals. Instead of cowering in fear, you’ll welcome the pressure because you know the talents and abilities you possess are perfect for overcoming any obstacles. When you take the time to reflect on what happened, you may find patterns that can help you with future goals. Why make the same mistakes when you’ve already learned how to succeed? 6 Things You Can Do Immediately to Change Your Life and Stop Worrying Oct 26, 2022
    Show notes

Worry seeps into every nook and cranny of our lives. Every day, we worry about our jobs, our children, our relationships, money, and a million other things. It's no surprise that we don't get things done the way we'd like. Fortunately, this does not have to be the case. To change your life and stop worrying, consider the following questions: What Are You Really Worried About? Many times, worry is a mask for something else entirely. A hard look and some pointed questions might be necessary to get to the heart of the matter. On the other hand, once you have a clear understanding of what the real issue is, it’s easier to address the problem and stamp out the worry completely. Is This Even Possible? Worry makes everything appear gigantic and overwhelming. When you think about it, most of our worries are downright silly (or at least highly unlikely). Step back and ask yourself how likely the outcome is, and acknowledge just how silly your worry seems when you take a step back. We’re very good at worrying about something we can’t change. Seriously, what difference does it make if it rains tomorrow? Nothing we do can keep the drops from falling. Obviously, there will be times when we have to let nature take its course. Ask yourself a fundamental follow-up question if you’re worried about the future: “Is there something I can do today that will prevent this outcome tomorrow?” If so, now you have a plan of action. Get to it! Am I Spending Too Much Time? Obsessive worry doesn’t help anyone. If you find yourself circling back to the same concern over and over, you might need help breaking out of this cycle. Consider talking to someone, such as a good friend or even a counselor or trained professional, to help you break out of this vicious cycle. Why Do I Care What Others Think? If you’re worried about the opinions of others, why? If you’re concerned about impressing your boss, there are better ways to do this than worrying. More often than not, though, you’re going to find most people’s opinions really don’t matter. Don’t let them get to you. Once you have the answers to these questions, you’ll find it’s easy to get your thoughts back on track. Worry becomes a thing of the past when we’re mindful of it, and don’t let it become obsessive. Imagine the difference a life without so much worry will make. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

How to stand up to your inner critic! Oct 24, 2022
    Show notes

The most powerful way of learning to disempower our inner critic is to stand up to it! This approach entails identifying the inner critic, labeling it, observing what it does without judgment, and then letting it go. Whenever we recognize the voice of our inner critic, we may practice thinking “Thank you, inner critic.” When it bombards us with unhelpful thoughts, we can resolve not to take the content of these thoughts too seriously. We may say, “Here is the inner critic again, doing its dirty work.” Even better, come up with a more specific name for it. We could call it the judge, the saboteur, the wolf, the demon, or whatever label fits with the unique ways in which it tends to wreak havoc in our heads. When we observe it in action, we may want to remind ourselves that our thoughts are just words and that our beliefs are just that: beliefs, not facts. They are nothing more than the unhelpful noise of our endlessly chattering minds. We are not those thoughts – we can defuse ourselves from them. There is a massive difference between thinking “I am ugly and stupid,” and thinking “My inner critic suggests I am ugly and stupid.” That way, we can create distance between the thought and us, and observe the thought more objectively. Our inner critics – whatever we may call them – have a powerful influence over our inner lives. They determine not just our overall psychological wellbeing, but also how successful we are. The original function of our critical inner voice was to protect us from danger, but later in life negative self-talk can become a major maladaptive habit with wide-ranging negative repercussions. But merely by noticing and labeling these critical inner voices, and practicing the psychological strategies outlined in this article that resonate most with us, we can significantly weaken their impact. If our inner critic were a person, we would avoid them like the plague. They would no doubt fall into the category of an abuser: someone who systematically erodes our sense of self-worth; who mocks, berates, and demeans us; who constantly says the most horrific things about us and makes us feel small, and miserable. Would we tolerate this kind of talk if it were directed at a child, friend, or someone we love? Why, then, should we accept it as our own grim normality? nner critic bookinner critic worksheetinner critic pdftypes of inner criticwhere does inner critic come fromexamples of inner critic
