How to Find Drive and Ambition When You Have None Dec 09, 2022
    Show notes

Drive and ambition seem to be critical components for success. Most successful people constantly strive to improve themselves, their skills, and their circumstances. A person needs a lot of drive and ambition to keep working when life is hard, or things are not going as expected. People with no drive are bored by life and easily discouraged by obstacles. They give up easily because they see little point in life's struggles. They may even try to destroy themselves by abusing drugs or alcohol or spending time watching TV and never accomplish anything of value in their lives. While these may be extreme cases of zero drive and ambition, we all tend to lose motivation from time to time. Try these tips to help you regain your motivation and increase your drive: 1.Cultivate a growth mindset. People with a growth mindset believe they can grow over time with effort and practice. On the other hand, people with a fixed mindset think they are stuck with their limitations and unable or unwilling to grow or change through hard work or practice. You can cultivate a growth mindset by reading books and articles about successful people and learning about how they overcame obstacles to become successful. You can also practice thinking positively about yourself, even when you make mistakes or others criticize you. Avoid procrastination. Procrastination is a major cause of low motivation and lack of success for most people. We all have certain tasks we put off because we dread doing them, but procrastination is self-destructive because it robs us of the opportunity to achieve our goals in life. To stop procrastinating, write down the tasks you want to complete and rank them from most important to least important. Then tackle the highest priority task and complete it before moving on to the next one until all of your high priority tasks are done for the day. If you have difficulty getting started on tasks, set a timer for 20 minutes and use that time to get started on the highest priority task on your list before you move on to another activity. When you feel productive throughout the day, you will feel more motivated and less stressed about accomplishing your goals. 3. Trick yourself into thinking you're motivated. Motivation is a feeling, so it may seem counterintuitive to create it artificially using tricks like wearing an outfit that makes you feel confident or listening to motivational music before a big meeting at work. However, if you think of motivation as a feeling, you may be able to trick yourself into behaving in a way that boosts your motivation and makes you feel more driven and productive. 4. Think of counterarguments for why you're struggling with motivation. People who lack motivation tend to focus on why they can't do something instead of all the reasons they can succeed at a task. For example, suppose someone feels unmotivated to exercise. In that case, they may tell themselves that they have no energy after work to exercise and shouldn't bother going to the gym since they don't enjoy it anyway. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

How to Change Your Life: The Magic of Goals and Measure Dec 08, 2022
    Show notes

Change is hard. We all know people who start a new diet or workout routine and fail within the first few weeks. Why is it so difficult to change our lives? The answer lies in two critical concepts: goals and measurement. Here, we will explore how these two concepts can work magic in your life to help you set goals and achieve lasting change. What Are Goals, and How Do They Work Magic in Your Life? Goals are the first step to turning your life around. Without goals, you will not have a clear direction or focus. Goals give you something to strive for and help keep you motivated. How do goals work magic in your life? Goals give you a clear direction, help keep you motivated, and hold you accountable. When you set definitive, attainable goals, you are more likely to achieve lasting change in your life. For example, if you plan to lose weight, you are more likely to stick with your diet and workout routine if you have a goal of losing a certain amount of weight by a specific date. It’s best to set SMART goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. For example, rather than setting a goal to “work out more,” set a goal to “work out for 30 minutes, three times per week.

Your Inner Critic: Why is it Always Winning? Nov 28, 2022
    Show notes

Why is my inner critic so strong? The inner critic tells you all the reasons you are not good enough. It is formed from painful early life experiences when we might have witnessed or experienced hurtful attitudes toward ourselves or those close to us. We unconsciously adopt and integrate this pattern of thought toward ourselves and others as we age. What is the purpose of your inner critic? A person's inner critic can play a significant role in shaping one's identity and sense of self. This inner critic can be like a nagging voice that questions each decision and undermines each accomplishment, and it can leave a person with difficult feelings such as shame, inadequacy, or guilt.

    1. Listen to your negative thoughts. This may seem counter-intuitive, but you can only silence your inner critic when you're actually aware of it. ...
    2. Get productive. ...
    3. Re-think how you see other people. ...
    4. Ask yourself this question. ...
    5. Remind yourself of how awesome you are.

You obtain hard skills through your education, training, certifications, and professional experience. Soft skills, also called people skills, are the mix of social, character traits, and professional attitudes that all jobs require. How to be a Winner at Life Nov 19, 2022
    Show notes

Everyone wants to be a winner. Let’s not confuse this with how competitive some are. No, not everyone likes to compete. But we all like to win. We all want to succeed. When did you experience the joy that comes with this? Was it as you received admission to your preferred college? When you received the job offer you were expecting? Or when your football team won their game? We have all won at something in our lives, and we love the feeling. Where does this urge to win come from? Scientists believe the pleasure-stimulating neurochemical dopamine is responsible. Yes, beating your friend in a game and excelling in a test gives you bragging rights. Your body also rewards you with a feel-good sensation for winning. What other benefits are there to winning? Winning boosts our confidence. With this boost, it’s easier to win again in similar situations. From the looks of it, even nature supports our drive to succeed. While this desire is inherent to us, it is not always easy to meet. It is because some challenges are more complex to overcome than others. One of the biggest challenges we face is how to succeed in life. Put another way, how to win at life. Sad to say, there is no one size fits all formula for overcoming this challenge. The reason for this is simple. It’s because success looks different to everyone. 1 Yet there are general principles we can all apply to achieve this. Practice these essential strategies to win in life: 1. Set clear goals. A runner cannot win a race unless he knows where the finish line is. Likewise, without establishing what success means, you may struggle to find it. That is why you need a definite goal. You’ll know exactly where you are to head and what it will take to reach there. When we work toward goals, we are working with purpose. And when we reach them, it will count as a win for us. 2.Create winning habits. Habits are nature’s way to help you make sustained progress. They make some behaviors easier to repeat by automating them. Once you establish the habit, you’ll do the action without much effort. These are a few of the many habits we can leverage to achieve success in life: Developing habits that will help you achieve your goals will make it easier. These habits can help you smash your goals and win in life. With regards to organization, be systematic, plan, set priorities, and arrange things like your schedule well. Personal care means taking good care of yourself and paying attention to your health. Frugality isn’t the same as stinginess. It’s being thrifty with money and resources and spending with prudence when the time calls for it. 3. Don’t fear making mistakes. If you are to succeed, you cannot be afraid to fail. When you make mistakes, ask yourself what went wrong. What did you learn from it? What will you do differently next time? We must make mistakes and learn from them to win in life. Before we can learn from our mistakes, though, we need to accept them. It’s important to take responsibility for our actions. Winners don’t make excuses, and they find solutions. Understanding and accepting our errors 2 contribute to us finding success in life. 4.Be willing to learn something new every day. Never stop learning new things throughout your life. There are so many advantages to this. For example, it keeps your mind sharp and reduces the risk of diseases like Alzheimer’s. Also, it provides you with intriguing topics to discuss with others and updates you on what is going on. Besides all this, you will have so much fun when you learn about things that interest you. If, as the saying goes, knowledge is power, then learning is the key to gaining control. You’ll find that power will help you succeed at most things in life. Winning isn’t new to you. You’ve already done so in many aspects of your life. When you work to apply the principles discussed, you’ll continue to do so now. And in the end, you’ll not only look back and see a life well-lived, but ultimately, a life well won. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

How Successful Entrepreneurs Manage Time Well Nov 18, 2022
    Show notes

Time management is one of the most critical skills for any entrepreneur. After all, your time is limited, and successful entrepreneurs need to make the most of every minute. Here are a few tips for how to manage your time successfully as an entrepreneur: 1. First, prioritize your tasks. Create a task list and then order them by importance. Making a list of your most important tasks will help you focus on the essential jobs. Of course, some jobs will always take precedence over others. You can also use the Eisenhower Matrix to help you better prioritize your tasks. The Eisenhower Matrix is a time management technique used to prioritize tasks. President Dwight Eisenhower introduced the method and was known for his practical time management skills. The matrix categorizes tasks into four quadrants: Quadrant 1: Urgent and Important. Quadrant 2: Important, but not Urgent. Quadrant 3: Urgent but not Important. Quadrant 4: Not Urgent and Not Important Tasks that are both urgent and important should be at the top of the list. These are the tasks that you need to complete first. The tasks in the second part of the series are also important. Quadrant 3 tasks are urgent, but you can often delegate them to someone else. Quadrant 4 tasks are neither critical nor essential, and you can eliminate these tasks. 1 2. Second, create a schedule and stick to it. Having a set schedule will help you use your time more effectively and ensure that you forget nothing important. Leave some flexibility in your plan to account for unexpected tasks or delays. One effective way of creating an efficient schedule is to use the time-block method. It involves scheduling specific periods for certain tasks. For example, you might block out two hours to work on a project and one hour to check and respond to emails. Once you have created your schedule, try your best to stick to it. 3.Next, delegate tasks. As an entrepreneur, you probably have a lot on your plate. Don’t do everything yourself–delegate tasks to others on your team or hire outside help when necessary. You can free up your time to focus on the most critical tasks. Hire a virtual assistant to handle some of your administrative tasks or use a project management tool to delegate tasks to your team members. If you have trouble trusting, try using the 80/20 rule. This rule states that 80% of the results come from 20% of the effort. Focus on the tasks that will have the most significant impact and delegate the rest. 4. Set boundaries. It’s important to set boundaries between work and personal time. When working, try to avoid distractions and stay focused on the task. Once you’ve clocked out for the day, resist the urge to check your email or do any more work. It would help if you also learned to say “no” when feeling overwhelmed. It’s better to focus on a few tasks and do them well than to do too much and end up doing a poor job. 5. Finally, take breaks. Working non-stop is not sustainable in the long run. You will burn out quickly if you don’t take breaks to relax and rejuvenate. Schedule some time for yourself every day, even if it’s just a few minutes. Take a walk, read a book, or take a nap. Breaks will help you stay focused and productive when you are working. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Don't be a D#@%- what leaders must avoid at all costs Nov 17, 2022
    Show notes

Some leaders believe that everything revolves around them and that whatever they say is correct. When you become self-absorbed or have an exalted ego, you create your own sense of reality, making it impossible to gain the trust of other team members. Trust is critical. Leaders are unable to generate buy-in from team members at any level of the organization without it. A genuine sense of community is required to move a health-care system forward. When animosity exists among team members, it is impossible for everyone to put their shoulders to the wheel together. Some leaders believe that encouraging competition among members of their C-suite is a highly effective motivational strategy, but you would be hard pressed to find a successful sports team that thrives on this dynamic. The best teams in any sport emerge from the locker room ready to fight for one another, and they understand that resentment jeopardizes their chances of success. Healthcare organizations are no exception, and leaders who believe otherwise are doomed. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Overcome Negativity and Jealousy by Focusing on Gratitude Nov 07, 2022
    Show notes

We live in a society where material things like cars, houses, and clothes have a high value and status, and we all want more money, bigger houses, and more cars, but we never seem to be happy. Instead of being grateful for what we do have, we complain and feel envious of those who have more than we do. Constantly competing with your neighbors, coworkers, or family members can be exhausting! You'll eventually lose sight of what's important in life, such as your children, relationships, and health. You won't feel fulfilled if you place a high value on things, and you'll end up creating an inner tension that will only drive you away from happiness. Being in constant competition with neighbors, coworkers, or family members can be exhausting! Eventually, you'll lose sight of the important things in life, such as your children, relationships, and health. If you place a strong value on things, you won't feel very fulfilled and you'll end up creating an inner tension that will only drive you away from happiness. After all, happiness isn't defined by the amount of stuff you collect. Remember What You're Grateful For If you had to list what's good in your life, right now, and you weren't allowed to mention any material possessions, would you have a hard time coming up with the list? Do you have a hard time just being happy and grateful because you're always longing for something bigger or better? We all have big dreams for ourselves, but we can't begin to work toward our goals until we accept who we are and where we're at right now. That acceptance begins with a sincere appreciation for the life lesson's of yesterday and the talents and skills we have today. Sure, we all want a big house, nice furniture, big-screen TVs, better paying jobs, luxury cars, gourmet food, fancy jewelry, and designer clothes but how can we appreciate the finer things in life if we can't be thankful for the simple things? After all, a big-screen TV won't matter if you didn't have your eyes to see and your ears to hear! Of course, desiring good quality items isn't wrong, but your focus should be on living and enjoying your life, not things. 1 • Expressing your gratitude doesn't have to be reserved for Thanksgiving dinner. Share with your family why you're grateful today and really listen to what your family says in return. • Encourage your kids to dig deep in their souls to find their gratitude. Kids need to learn how to take their focus off of material items and onto influential people, positive experiences, and quality of life. Refocus Your Thoughts with a Gratitude Journal A gratitude journal is simply a notebook where you write down everything in life you're thankful for. It doesn't have to take more than 5 minutes in the early morning or before bed each night. The idea is to clear your mind, reflect on the day, and see the goodness in life. Here are some tips to help you get started: • Buy or make yourself a nice, attractive journal so you'll take care of it and will look forward to journaling everyday. • Reflect on anything new that came your way: new friends, clients, or opportunities. • Don't be shy about repeating things from previous days; praising your good health and loving family never tires. • Did a friend do something nice for you today? Did you find a lost item? Did you handle a difficult situation well? Gratitude isn't reserved for really big things; you can be grateful for the small things, too. • Periodically, go back over your journal and read all that you're grateful Our Newest Affiliate!!
